We attended the funeral of my brother's MIL on Saturday. Sad occasion, but it was nice seeing so much family and friends from my hometown. We also ran by the nursing home to see my newly-admitted Grandma. She'd been having trouble with her legs and she and her kids decided she wasn't well enough to live by herself so she's in the nursing home. Grandma is 97 and her mind is still sharp but her body is failing her. Sad to see. We also went to see my Grandpa who is 102. He's still living on the family farm (with my uncle) and his mind is also still sharp. But he's really failed in the last 6 months. It was a furnace outside this weekend and Grandpa's house was so hot and he was in sweatpants. The boys played nicely for a bit, but they were both a sweaty mess when we left. I'm glad we got to see them though.
Storms rolled through yesterday evening and overnight and it has drastically cooled off. This week's forecast is perfection.

Sorry if it’s picture overload but I loved this place. And PDQ. Will delete.

curmudgeon That candytopia place looks like fun! I’m so glad your boys enjoyed it. duskymonkey We also do passion fruit pavlova! I will put star fruit, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries as garnish on top too. I will try to keep it sitting in the oven if we are brave and try to make it again. I worry that leaving it in for longer would dry it out and not keep the soft, gooey center though. So many pavlovas I’ve had in Southeast Asia are way over cooked and much too crunchy! Or they are not crunchy at all and just soupy/sad. I wouldn’t drop off DS1 to a party at 5 - I think it’s too young. It obviously didn’t work out that well for the poor kid. Bummer. Maybe the parents saw it as an opportunity for free babysitting/ kid-free time? CoachTsWife You might as well give it a whirl if others are reporting benefits. Worst that happens is that it doesn’t do anything for you, but at least you tried!

Sounds like everyone had a good busy weekend! curmudgeon That place looks so cool and like a lot of fun! Taitai It was very hot and humid here even with the A/C going which is why I was worried about it but they turned out great. DH has even requested it for his birthday cake, he’s never had it before and was upset that I’ve been holding out making it for all this time. duskymonkey Yes the pavlova looks so fancy but is fairly easy, looks healthy with the fruit piled on top and is gluten free. It’s definitely going in the rotation. I’d like the orange cake recipe, I’m working on my GF baking skills. I just got an angel food cake mix that I’m going to make and my sister found GF tart shells. Can you tell I’m pregnant with all the dessert talk? 😂

I've never tried pavlova, but thanks to you all, I'm going to once the humidity eases up here. It sounds delicious!
Also diving down the Asian beauty rabbit hole 🙈
We did storytime at the library today and otherwise just lounging. I haven't been sleeping worth anything lately and I'm not sure why.

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately, I have been busy purging and packing! We donated and tossed so much stuff but it still seems like the packing will never end 🤪 Tomorrow we are moving into my parents house for a week or so and it will be nice to get out of the chaos! We get possession of our new house on Thursday and moving day is Saturday! The floors are being redone though so we won’t fully move in until the floors and baseboards are totally done, hopefully sometime early next week though!

Have you tried reading any of the blogs? My fav is fifty shades of snail. doodlemommy Wow - how exciting that you are taking possession of your new home so soon! Exciting times!!

The library has their swim party tonight - it was a balmy 73° 🥶 DD1 stayed the entire time though and was the last one out two hours later! DD2 stayed home with H - she loves swimming but would have been really cold and not thrilled with DD1 and I doing all the big slides without her.
The copier is broken at school so there’s not a lot I can do to get my classroom ready at this point. H and I are going to binge some movies tomorrow and get Chinese. I may need a nap after the swimming today though too!

DS1 had a field trip to the skating rink today and fell asleep on the bus ride back. This is my fear if he were to ride the bus home from school. He falls asleep in the car 98% of the time.

CoachTsWife definitely do research before using CBDs, although very low, the levels of THC will be different for each manufacturer ( the psychoactive component ). Reports are that the levels are too low to cause any concerns. mommabakes, glad to see you hear. Yasss to making Pavlova! How's your little guy? Is he finally STTN for you? Taitai is your little dude finally STTN too? I can't remember who else was still waking up MOTN. I missed the pics you posted curmudgeon but I looked it up and looks like an interactive installation. DS would go nuts and will probably try to eat everything so that could be dangerous. Sort of reminds me of a photographer who uses food to create scenes - www.carlwarner.com How long is the bus ride going to be? I imagine he would be excited riding the bus with his friends in addition to being noisy, he'll be wide awake. I am nervous about having DS ride the bus and he'll be starting Kindy in a few weeks!! Where did the summer go! Eeeeekkk! doodlemommy, sounds like you have everything under control and and love new floors. Hoping it will be smooth sailing with the move. How exciting. danvers your library has a swimming pool? Is this common huh? August Blooms great to hear you're at least looking forward to enjoying the eating part of pregnancy. I didn't know you were GF too? I'll post the recipe sometime this week. It's a lovely recipe unintentionally GF and doesn't use 20 types of grain flour to make up for the wheat flour. It is on the denser side. I find lots of European recipes uses lots of nut flour instead of wheat.

duskymonkey exactly right. Interactive and you can touch all the art, but it’s shellacked so much I don’t think your DS would want to taste any of it! They do have bins of free candy to take since they know the temptation is real. They have green screens for pictures, confetti that flies out of pig butts, and flowers that have a foot pedal and spray out candy scented air.

I don't think DS2 will ever sleep through the night. I will be straight up SHOCKED if/when it ever happens. My DS1 has STTN about 5 times his entire life...he’s 4. So yeah, some kids not picking up the STTN thing does happen. I pray that once he hits the teenage years, he’ll actually STTN...pleaaaaase. DS2 is better - he sleeps in the crib from about 7:30pm - 5:30am, when he wakes up to nurse and I just bring him into bed with me until 7am, when he is up for the day.

Taitai I've been telling myself he'll grow out of some of his....challenging....ways, for MONTHS. Not STTN is just one of the things I'm ready for him to outgrow. Idk if DS1 is just a super easy kid or if DS2 is super duper extra challenging. Last time I got my hair done, my girl was telling me about her middle child and how she was difficult from day 1 until about age 4 and I was like

CoachTsWife Some kids are definitely just born easier than other kids (IMO). DS1 and DS2 are good examples- we’ve parented them the exact same way, but DS1 is much more head-strong and difficult, while DS2 is much more chill. I hope your DS2 starts STTN for you! I will let you know if my DS1 ever figures that out.

Taitai when do you go back - or are you already back home? Are your boys ready to be home or still loving all the attention from extended fam? duskymonkey the library just rents out the local community pool for an evening each summer. It’s actually super common for kids around here to do that for summer bday parties because it’s not ridiculously expensive and you can invite tons of people that way. curmudgeon the school busses in our community have special buzzers that have to be shut off in the back of the bus once the driver takes the key out of the ignition.. So they physically have to walk to the back of the bus and walk by all the seats forcing them to check for sleeping kids. It does happen (to my 4th graders even!) that some fall asleep on the way home and miss their stop only to wake up somewhere later on route.

I’m not sure if ours have buzzers. He really wants to ride. I’m not sure how long the ride is since it’s a brand new school and they haven’t planned routes yet. MIL lives next door and has offered to do pick up every day so we’ll just start with that. And maybe try the bus later.

Y'all, my neighbor has been using a palm sander on his scrap heap if a car for over 2 consecutive hours. He started about 9:30 this morning and its past noon now. The low grade buzzing noise is going to make me shank a bitch.

cythe Ugh - That’s so annoying. Are these the same neighbors as the one older lady who came to your home to hide from her husband? danvers We have another 1.5 weeks left in America, and then it’s back home. Our extended visit has been great - but I’m ready to get back to our normal routine and all of our stuff. I miss the whole support system we have at home too.

Also! I got a print that I ordered a few days ago, and im so excited. Since we move so much, I dont do much decorating but this is for E's room. Its the planetary alignment the minute of her birth. How cool?! Im going to buy a frame and hang it in her room. Maybe she will grow up to love space too!

We were going to take DS to watch a movie in the park but it starts at 8:30 and it’s not a movie I really want to see so I convinced him to let us take him for shaved ice instead. My mom is coming to sit with DS2 so it’ll just be the 3 of us. Like old times. I’m excited for some sugar.

OMG you all. I just spent 9 - NINE - hours in a lecture hall for a professional conference today. We broke for a half hour lunch. 9 hours.
My brain hurts. It was all about robotics and did have useful information for our robotics club at school but there were also long bits of time where I was like “omnidirectional drivetrain?!” “passive drive!??” “Gear torque ratio something?!” 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
My littlest brother just graduated as a mechanical engineer and I can’t imagine sitting for four years of college classes like this 😂

Moving day today!! Well we have moved a ton of stuff the last 2 days but furniture comes today! The flooring guys finished the main level yesterday and will work on the upstairs today. Painter sprayed all the new baseboards yesterday so those can get put up over the next couple days too. He is rolling a fresh coat on a couple bedrooms and spraying the new closet doors today too so it’s going to be busy! We can’t really set up all the furniture because they are still working but we have to be out of our current house by Monday so it’s just getting piled in the middle of rooms 🤷🏽♀️
