cythe she probably likes the closeness and restricted feeling. DS2 lays sideways too, but his feet always stretch out and then a thigh is wedged in the slats.

cythe I agree it’s probably a security thing. Current sleep position: I think for the same reason this is her favorite. And yes she sleeps with a unicorn and a mermaid because of course she does, and the frilly sleeves are because she decided she wanted to wear an Alice in wonderland costume today and won’t take it off. She is 100% girl. 😂

We spent the day with H’s parents today. It’s hot here but DD1 is thrilled to play with her cousins and is spending the night tonight. DD2 is in love with all the kittens. All I’ve done is follow her around while she picks up the kittens and cuddles them. They are the tamest (and most loved) barn cats around.

Just when I thought we could get through a ton of travel without one of the kids getting sick...DS2 came down with a super runny nose and coughing/sneezing this morning 😩. Poor little guy.
We’ve been on 5 plane rides, three 2.5 hour car trips, slept in 4 different places, and dealt with a 12 hour time zone change all in the last 2 weeks, so I should have known that it would catch up with us.
The good news is that for the next 3 weeks, we have no more trips planned, and we are going to sleep in the same place until we head back home. I’m sooooo looking forward to a break from the packing/unpacking/traveling...even if only for 3 weeks. 🤣

We had a weekend full of running around - car inspections and oil changes, target runs, college grad party, drive by house hunting, and swim lessons. And the kids were monsters all weekend. I can’t wait for work tomorrow so I can get away from their whining and complaining. Omg

mommabakes 👋 good to see you even briefly. What’s bakin with you? Thanks lady! We're doing pretty well. Kids extracurriculars had me super busy through the school year, and then it felt super awkward to hop back in 🤷🏻♀️

Anyone so some Prime Day shopping?
We needed nothing so of course I ended up buying things. H really, really wanted an air fryer so that's coming now I guess. I got a bike for DD1. H wanted to wait until Christmas so we would have a gift suggestion for family when they ask but I can't see the point of a bike at Christmas as we live in the midwest and will be under a foot of snow. Because really, what 4 year old wants to get a bike and not be able to use it for another 4 months?!? Most of the day was actually spent resurfacing our blacktop so that kept me busy and away from all the other deals at Target, Old Navy, and other places. Probably for the best!

I actually got a bunch of stuff on prime day which surprised me since amazon Canada isn’t as good.
Early deals - a musical instrument set for my niece for Christmas and an echo
Today I got a king sized mattress protector, set of black out curtains, 2 tv wall mounts, 2 fabric hampers for toy storage (stuffed animals and dress up clothes), a sound machine and vitamin d drops for baby, some dog food, and a backpack for DD for kindergarten! Oh, and a lego set for DD to take to a birthday party next month. I shipped it all to my mom’s house and she will just keep it there until we are moved in

danvers....that pic of DD2, I DIE! I tell you I DIE! Cute overload. Taitai, LT was for things calming down with your family. Hopefully DS2 is on the mend. Lil fella over here woke up yesterday with green snot and sounding like Darth vader singing wheels on the bus. He's otherwise in good spirits. curmudgeon...didnt you just move recently? I can't remember. Would this be closer to your work cos don't you have a longish commute now?

danvers what bike did you get for DD1? We're looking for a pedal bike for DS and most I am seeing have coaster brakes which we aren't keen on since he already knows how to use vbrakes on his balance bike. I did see a couple used bikes which I should try to contact the seller about size. Also I have a question for our resident teacher. I am going through DS' Kindy class list and they seems pretty specific about certain brands of items, ex. pearl pink eraser instead of just eraser? should I get what they specifically specify? personal preference, I abhor the pink erasers and I already have a stash of polymer erasers. Also do I have to get the plastic pencil box? I have so many questions and hubs is of no help. I am clueless about the school supplies and system here. It's well....foreign to me. Also they didn't specify what size hand sanitizers? I am assuming larger then 8 fl oz? doodlemommy, I am also in the market for a backpack for DS when he starts Kindy in about a month! Eeeeekkkk! So I am looking to get another tub of Aquaphor again. I've been using it on my feet and it's solved my dry cracked feet problem and the occasional dry skin for the boys too. I haven't seen it come up on Amazon. I am wondering if I missed it. I also found a pretty good deal on Babyganics diapers but I couldn't load it onto my cart...super weird and I didn't have time to deal with it at work. I am also looking to see if there are any deals on a MIPS helmet for DS - he's going to need a new larger one I figure in about 6 months? any case the one he has can be handed down to lil fella I think if we can find deals on Yepps or a bike buggy but I don't see any. I need to check out used ones again. The ones I've seen are so beat up and gross. Any rate, I still got a pair of headphones for DS for school, hubs got a pair of house slippers and I got myself an instant read thermometer - been wanting one for so long and now that I am starting to make stuff for the kids and their birthday's and what nots, it will be well used. Taitai or anyone else, any chance you use a travel pillow you can recommend for our young tots and elder?

I did a bit of Prime shopping but I dont think I got anything for the little. I did see the Melissa and Doug play kitchen is coming up at like 7am EST and had a little laugh at everyone who will be assembling that later this week. Oh, I got her some pouches on sale hah. I got myself a new Razer gaming mouse to match the gaming keyboard I got last year I also got some of the mesh reusable produce bags that I linked in the prime thread. Overall, im pleased.

duskymonkey I think we got DD1 a Schwinn? It wasn’t a lightning deal but it was 30% off and purple which were important 😂 School supplies - ugh. I know why teachers specify name brands and such but personally feel it creates a lot of extra hassle. Are there better brands? Sure- Ticonderoga pencils! Crayons crayons! But I feel it sucks the joy out of back to school shopping when you start specifying a “plain blue folder” vs letting a kid pick out one they like (puppies! racecars!). Teachers do it to help with organization because it’s so much easier to say “get your blue folder” vs “get your writing folder” but still... That said, yea. I’d probably just buy whatever is specified. Chances are in K it’s going to be community supplies anyway and they will all just share. I’m honestly not sure on the hand sanitizer. Last year was the first year we requested sanitizer and we just copied one of our lower grades and asked for 12.5 oz which is apparently a really hard size to find! Sorry about that parents!!! 😬

I did some Prime Day browsing yesterday but didn't find much. In the past we've gotten the below things that ended up being solid purchases, but I'm not seeing much this time around. Some of these are marked down decently this year. Sound Machine - ($5 off plus extra 30% off at checkout Potty Training Seat - $16 and 20% off that Kids Step Stool - not a Prime deal but a great stool for kids Toddler Pillow - 49% off Kids Booster Seat - "On Sale" for $30 but I got it for $22 on Prime Day 2017 We also got an air mattress in 2017 to have on hand for company - DH was adamant we get it and I didn't want to spend the money on it. Well we got it and we have used it way more than I thought. The one we got is marked way up right now though. We got a full size one but it would be nice to have a twin size as well.
Last year on Prime Day we got a portable "brick" charger and that was so valuable when DH was in the hospital and when he was laid up after his back surgery. And we also got this ice pack which is a deal again this year. I'm laughing that 2 of our Prime Day purchases last year were used a TON during DH's back saga. It's a really good ice pack though.
DS1's bday is next week (!!!!!) and we still haven't gotten him a gift. I'm thinking we get him a bike but DH isn't sold. I should shop for one. danvers what size did you get your daughter? DS1 is turning 4 but he's a bit tall for his age. I feel like this is something we need to have him try out in store but it is hard to surprise him if we do that.

duskymonkey yep! We’ve been in this house 2 years and H is finally seeing how it’s not working for our family. His parents built it and now live next door- which is fine. We had planned to do an addition, but sinking that much money into it in the location and school district it’s in is just not the best option in my opinion. So hopefully when the toddler starts K we will be moving into a new place.

We ended up at a kids amusement park yesterday so I didn’t get to do any Prime day shopping. I had to alternate between chasing a toddler who could only go on limited rides and going on rides with with DD1. I ended up going on a super spinny one, there was no wait and DH wanted to get food. I had no idea it spun that much and my first tri nausea is coming on full force. 🤢Luckily I kept everything down.
I’m still coming to terms with this whole situation, 3 kids in a HCOL area, finances, work, finding balance have me stressed out as to how we can make it work.

duskymonkey My kids are weird and don’t use pillows, so no recommendation for a travel one. LOL to that Bigfoot statue, and WTF to that potty fishing game 🤣 August Blooms I’m impressed you were able to go on a spinny ride and not loose your lunch! There is no way I could have done that during my pregnancies. I hear you about the freaking out for 3 kids in a HCOL - I would be to. I know you can make it work though - you seem to have a really good head on your shoulders, especially on personal finance stuff!

Whelp - one of my big toes no longer has a toenail.
***TW for medical stuff****
On Monday I was trying to get to DS1 quickly, and while opening a door, my big toe went under it, but not the toenail. The stupid door gap was just that perfect height, and my big toenail got bent all the way backwards almost to the nail bed. 😩😬😭. I thought I could save the toenail, because it didn’t fall off, by using neosporin and bandaging the toenail right to my toe, but after 2 days (which includes a day of walking at the zoo and another day of walking at the museum), it was still really tender and not feeling good. So I went to the doctor today, and he was like - oh man - that toenail is awful and needs to come off.
****TW over****
So now I’m hobbling around in flip flops with my big toe bandaged to the size of a plum 🤣😂. DS2 is so cute and keeps saying “Momma owie! Be careful! Not too close!!” DS1 also also had trouble comprehending how I could no longer have a toenail - the look of confusion on his face was hilarious.

OMG Taitai my stomach dropped a little when I read that. So sorry. Sending T&Ps to your toe. It'll grow back, right? My mom is missing a toenail and I remember when she had to have it removed when I was little (I accidentally bumped into her shortly afterwards while chasing my brother and I stepped on her foot or something equally bad) but I don't recall why she had to have it removed. At least it is summer and you can wear sandals?
