OMG Taitai my stomach dropped a little when I read that. So sorry. Sending T&Ps to your toe. It'll grow back, right? My mom is missing a toenail and I remember when she had to have it removed when I was little (I accidentally bumped into her shortly afterwards while chasing my brother and I stepped on her foot or something equally bad) but I don't recall why she had to have it removed. At least it is summer and you can wear sandals? The doctor said the toenail should grow back, because the nail matrix looks to be somewhat okay. It might grow back ugly and be funny looking for the rest of my life though. Oh well - much worse could happen- I’m just glad I was able to get in so quickly and have it taken care of right away! Also, DS2 stepped on my big toe bandage today (on accident), and I almost went through the roof! It was all I could do to swallow the scream. I feel for your mom!

Prime day was such a disappointment. I didn't get the tub of Aquaphor! I must have missed it somehow. I did get a pair of headphones for DS and hope it fits. Taitai, Owwww! I was cringing reading about your toe accident. I am so sorry and It'll grow back. I lost a toenail once when I was on a hiking trip and forgot to trim it back and didn't pack a nail clipper so it got bruised descending the mountain. It was kinda awful looking and even more traumatizing for other people. Also I cracked up reading about your shopping items. I used to bring back ziploc bags, saran wrap, Jif peanut butter, cereal and cake mixes were very popular and until just recently, Vitamins, unless enough for personal consumption has been banned. I also travel with moving boxes and only put clothing in suitcases otherwise we don't have room to store luggages in addition they get so beat up. August Blooms... I would've definitely hurled with the last pregnancy and totally fine with the first. Despite that, sounded like you had a great time. I think you'll manage just fine and I would also be hyperventilating with a surprise 3rd. You got this and with 2 under your belt, you're a veteran. Just keep reminding yourself it will be hard the 1st yr. CoachTsWife DS is 5 and is in the lower single digit percentile and he just fits on a 16 inch pedal bike. It will also depend on the manufacturer and factor in on the stand over height. Is there a LBS you can check out bikes with DS1? It may cost a bit more but they may have incentives like trade ins for the cost of the next size bike. Maybe go ahead first and speak to the people and arrange for a few bikes in your price range for when you come in with DS so he won't go around pointing to the expensive ones. danvers, I didn't know about the community sharing until my sister told me and I think that's really great. When I was a kid, half my class couldn't afford supplies and and I had a teacher in 1st & 2nd graded who would take the extra pencils and cut erasers into 2 to give out to the kids who didn't have any. I suppose it makes it easier to just get the same stuff. I just grew up with a lot of cute Japanese stationery. Taitai do they have cute stationary in Thailand?

Taitai Ouch!! My DH did that exact thing a few years ago and I remember how painful it seemed. Hopefully yours heals quickly!! I scored some M&D play food sets on Prime day for like 30% off. I'm saving them back for Christmas, but I was excited! I love a good deal 😂

Taitai **tw for more toenail BS** A few days after my transfer with E, I fell down the stairs. At the bottom of the short flight of stairs was my vacuum cleaner that I just didnt get put away. Anyway, much like you my foot went below the side of the vacuum and my toenail went above it. It was gross and awful and i still have a scar on the top of my foot where the skin was ... taken away. This whole gross story is to tell you that I also violently lost a toenail and it grew back without issue and looks just like the other one

cythe mommabakes duskymonkey Thanks for the toenail anecdotes! I hope mine comes back like yours/your H’s did. I had my first post-removal bandage change today, and that was....not fun at all. The gauze got embedded and I nearly cried pulling it off over the course of like 30 min while soaking in saline water. 😩😭. No more gauze (just bandaids now), so hopefully that won’t be an issue again! duskymonkey Oh yes - we have tons of cute Japanese stationary back home! I love the washi tape. DS1 gets lots of cute stuff from birthday goody bags - Daiso and Donki are popular places to pick up that kind of stuff. DS1 loves Doraemon and Gudetama themed things the best 😁

Taitai somehow I missed the toenail story! Ouch!!!!!!! Not a fun thing to deal with on a trip either! I had one of mine removed last year and they poured some type of acid on the nail bed to remove it permanently. It was one of my big toe nails so i didn’t mind the complete removal as much. My little brother had so many problems with his nails he had them all removed. Zero toenails now 🤷♀️ Hope it feels better soon! I think it takes quite a long while for toenails to grow completely back but the girl who does pedis for me said she paints fake toenails for people all the time so I guess it’s not to abnormal 🤷♀️

Is he a runner by chance? I used to be a long distance runner, and I always had problems with my feet from that. If my toenail doesn’t come back, I’ll be hitting you up for suggestions on what to do if I want to wear sandals or expose my toes! I hear you can get acrylic ones put on pretty easily. Also - sorry everyone for basically turning the talk to podiatry-related issues for the past day or so. 🤣😂

danvers I didn't know that nailess toes are sort of common. Taitai I am sure your nail will grow back, it'll take a while and ouch to the dressing, it sounded like agony. Also I am not sure for everyone else but I've not had much to report here, it's pretty much mundane and honestly I am thankful for that. Actually I am wondering if anyone's hair growing back funky? I almost look like I have thin bangs around my hairline and it looks super weird. I've just given up on my hair. Speaking of hair bootsorhearts1 I am having the opposite problem with lil fella. People think he's a girl and I haven't the foggiest idea how to manage trimming his hair. He just won't keep still and I am not even sure if he would sit at a salon let alone allow a stranger to come near him.

I don’t get the CBD thing at all. Like, I honestly don’t know what it is and why it’s such a big deal. It’s not legal in the country where we live, and all of a sudden it seems to be everywhere in the USA. H and I were walking around a mall a few days ago, and there was like a CBD cupcakes place, CBD pizza, another CBD pharmacy-type shop, and some other random places with CBD stuff. We’re just like...must be some trend in America 🤷♀️ 🤣 ETA - not trying to judge or dis CBD....I just don’t get the fascination. I feel so old.

No toe nails as all danvers ? Wild! My mom paints her big toe (no nail) to match her other toes when she wants to wear sandals but it doesn't stay on long. CDB is all over here, too. I have some chronic health issues (autoimmune arthritis) and I'm in a facebook group with a bunch of people who have the same thing. Some have reported some pain relief by using CBD but they all say it needs to be the high-quality stuff. And some people report they don't get any relief from CBD but they do from cannabis. Medical marijuana just became legal in my state. The last time I was at my rheumatologist she actually suggested I try CBD. I.....didn't expect that.

CoachTsWife So interesting that they recommend CBD at the doctor’s office. I decided to do some googling, because I was reallt surprised by how CBD is everywhere here, and I have literally never heard of it in the country where I live. It seems that there haven’t been enough scientific studies to determine whether CBD is more effective than a placebo for anxiety/pain relief/depression/drug rehab/etc.. One study regarding its use to treat a rare childhood seizure disease did find that CBD had a significant impact in reducing the seizures, which - to me - means it must have a real impact for some people, or in a particular area of the brain. But lots of other studies I could find (and scientific articles about CBD in general) say there’s a lot to be learned/discovered when it comes to this one. I’m interested to see where the research goes on this. I still laugh about seeing CBD pizza and CBD gelato at my local mall though. Just seems like trying to market wine pizza or caffeine gelato. 🤣 But if it sells, then okay I guess!

I took off early from work and took the boys for a snow cone and then swimming. Best decision ever because now it’s not even 7pm and they’re both asleep.
We leave early tomorrow for Legoland and then hitting this Candytopia thing on the way back. Has anyone been/heard of it? Tickets were expensive!

Taitai not a runner, just always had issues with his feet CoachTsWife no toenails at all 😂after like the 6th one he had removed he said screw it and told the doc to take them all. When I had one of mine permanently removed the doctor assured me toenails really only serve a cosmetic function now so they were really needed 🤷♀️ It is too hot to do anything here. As I’m sure some of you are melting too! We have no weekend plans because it will be too hot. Daniel Tiger may have to provide some breaks because I think we are all going to be spending a lot of time together inside.

We are home, it is nice and hot and we are having a nice thunderstorm roll through now. The kids were a bit of a disaster on the flight, the airline didn’t put one of our bags on and when we arrived the bridge was broken so we had to push back and go to another gate. I do not recommend traveling with my 21 month old and my missing bag has all my makeup, hair and skincare. The airline says it’s on a flight here so hopefully we will have it tomorrow.
I have nothing to add to the toenail talk, I have all of mine but some of those stories are nasty lol

Okay - some non-toenail talk for me. We had a great afternoon, despite the heat. We took the kids to a really cool park in the afternoon, followed by dinner with my ILs, walked around a cute little main street area of the town we were in, and then we topped the evening off with Dairy Queen. I guess one of the perks to living in the tropics is that you don’t really mind when it’s the mid-90s 😂🤣. We had the park to ourselves, which was great.
Kids are tuckered out and in bed after much needed baths. Now I’m doing some Nordstrom Anniversary sale shopping - excited to get my fav shampoo, skincare BHA, and leggings for the year!

Yup. CBD is definitely a growing trend. I think It's the thrill and thought of cannabis consumption for the average consumer and I am sure the average person only sees it as marjuana. From what I have read and understand, there hasn't been very much clinical research done and since it's a new product, the long term effects are not known. Matters like this sometimes makes doing my job hard because I don't buy into them. I remember working on E cigarettes products way before it hit the market and I was conflicted. CoachTsWife I am sorry you have health troubles and also really surprised to hear that your Dr suggested to try CBDs to potentially ease your ailments. August Blooms hope you had a good trip and bummer about your luggage. I hate it when that happens. Do you at least have extras of your essential beauty stuff at home? It was so hot these past few days and I think I burnt a layer of my skin off walking back from work on Wednesday; I then decided to put on my ridiculously enormous hat for my walk to and fro work and it made a huge difference even though I probably look like a fool, at least I didn't burn to a crisp. I need to check out the Nordstrom sale for some new bras. Hopefully there'll be some well priced Natori's.

I’m guessing our air quality might be a bit better here so if you all venture to the playground or park you’ll have it to yourself 😬 August Blooms ugh that flight! I hope you stuff shows up soon! Our weather is often hotter and more humid than this for most months of the year - exception being Dec - Feb, but even then we still regularly have days in the 90s...with poor air quality to boot! It’s surprising how one gets used to it though. The heat just doesn’t bother me and the kids as much anymore...unless it’s really really hot, like 100 degrees plus. Another thing is that there is a huge difference while in the shade. We never let the kids play outside in the direct sun when it’s super hot (USA or back home), because that is a recipe for dehydration. Staying in the shade or being in water (with tons of sunscreen) is key.

We stopped at the zoo on the way in and I was dying. I stupidly wore sweatpant joggers bc I’m always cold in the car. So I walked around in them in 99 degrees. My shirt was soaked. This was DS2’s first zoo trip and he was so excited.
Legoland was a shitshow but DS1 had a blast. However, we will not be back. H and DS1 are now swimming while DS2 and I are showered and ready to turn in. I’m exhausted!

All my stuff was delivered by the airline as of 2pm yesterday! So I didn’t have to get by very long without my stuff. The kids are experiencing bit of a post grandparents and trip hangover but we are working through it.
We went raspberry picking and to the park this morning and then we are off to my moms for dinner. I’m making berry pavlova for the first time so we will see how this goes... I’m waiting for them to finish baking. We can have berries and whipped cream if it doesn’t work out.

This weekend was super busy for us. My side of the family had a big reunion celebration for my grandma and grandpa’s 90th birthday. It was crazy and busy, but we ended up having a great time. We even got a picture with almost all family members in it - I counted 54 people in the shot! My family is massive - can’t wait to see how it turns out.
My H also has a big family, and we’re doing a similar celebration for his grandma’s 92nd birthday next weekend. Let’s hope the kids don’t go on party overload!

Yaaasssss! Pavlova. Lurve it too. My cousin in NZ makes a fabulous passionfruit pavlova. They are such elegant desserts. I've forgotten about them. I'll have to make it next time we have company. I should try to plant a couple of raspberry bushes, the kids would love them. I just tucked in a couple of strawberry plants a couple of weeks ago and hope they can overwinter. Taitai , meringues weeping in humid weather makes me....well...weep. Could you try leaving it in the oven with the door cracked and oven off after baking for 15 mins-20 mins? Also sounds like great fun meeting up with family. Thought you had no plans this last few weeks curmudgeon , what happened at Legoland? also tell us what is this candytopia thing? What comes to mind in like a Willy Wonka type? We had a really great weekend. The weather cooled off with some rain yesterday afternoon so that turned out pretty good. I took DS to a birthday party yesterday afternoon at a park and rains rolled in. There was a shelter so all the parents were dry except for the kids. All the kids ( all the boys! ) kept on playing and were soaked to the skin and had the best day ever! DS was scooping mud and was so dirty I cannot believe I allowed him to do that but I didn't want to be that parent plus what was I going to do, keep him under the shelter and watch his friends let loose in the pouring rain rolling in mud. I figured he owes me big time now and cannot ever deny that I never let him play in the rain and mud. So there! Also today, I took lil fella out to get groceries and get a car wash too and he was SUPER...excited and he didn't puke! Here's another thing. There was a kid there that his parents just left him? Maybe they arranged it with the hosts? since we got there and he was already there so I don't really know. Kids are all 5 but I think it's too young to leave your kid by themselves at a party at this age. Maybe I have very little faith in my own child I dunno? I and another parent had to break up a fight between that kid and another and he of course started crying. There were times I felt sorry for him and was trying to get him to sit with the other kids and getting him snacks and cake. What do you think? Should the parents have been there? Not gonna lie but I was totally judging. He repeatedly did say his parents were taking a walk around the park but clearly they weren't anywhere close at all. I saw his dad drive and park 2 hours later to retrieve him. ETA. August Blooms Pavlova is such a great great GF dessert everyone can enjoy too. Great choice! Reminds me, I have a lovely GF orange cake recipe. Happy to share the recipe with you or anyone else.

Taitai and duskymonkey I think my dr has another patient who is seeming to have success with CBD oil. She just told me it was worth a shot and I didn't have to worry about any drug interactions, etc. I keep meaning to do some more research on it but I haven't had the time. I am open to giving it a try! Just need to look into it more.
