🇨🇦 Happy CANADA day 🇨🇦 doodlemommy I hope you had a good long weekend! We went to a Canada day party on Saturday on a rural property, the kids had a blast with all the other kids running around and they even had a semi professional fireworks display! So much fun and then yesterday we had my family over for a dinner. I made mini cheesecakes for the first time and they turned out really good. Overall a good weekend!

Thanks August Blooms! I hope you did too! We are in the mountains for our yearly trip with my family. They do a big Canada day parade which is super fun. And then today is my Dad’s birthday! My parents own a 2 bedroom condo and then they have a deal with the people who own the one next door and we use it the July long weekend and they use ours a different weekend each year so we have space to spread out which is nice! We are staying until Friday but DH left yesterday late afternoon as he didn’t want to take time off, preferring to save it with moving and then the baby coming. So of course DD woke up at 3:30 saying she missed daddy, then DS woke up at 5:00 for the day (usually 6) and DD at 6:00 (usually 7ish) 😭. I predict an early bedtime for all of us.

Im pleased someone said "Happy Canada Day". A friend of mine told us it was Canada Day so i said Happy Canada Day, and then asked if that was the correct way to say it.
He said he didnt know. He may not be a real Canadian.

Happy Canada Day, a little late! bootsorhearts1 No fun with the sickness! I hope it clears up soon. We are almost over jet lag, and the kids seem to really be enjoying America! DS1 was like - can we live here and not go back to Thailand? 😩 They love all the parks and the temperate weather I think - plus, getting spoiled by the grandparents is another big plus! I took DH and DS2 on a quick business trip with me while DS1 stayed with my in-laws, and that went really well too! Looking forward to celebrating the 4th in a few days. We’ve already been to one parade, and it was the first parade my boys have ever been to. Both kids LOVED seeing the fire trucks and police cars, and DS1 thought people throwing candy at him was basically the best thing ever. 🤣😂

curmudgeon kid free vacation, yay! Yeah toddlers can be real jerks sometimes. Mine now likes to take all her clothes off and run around naked and gets mad as hell when you make her put a pull up on. 😬

Then he pulled my fingers apart and bit the webbing in between them. Sometimes I think he’s evil.

curmudgeon yay for kid free vacations! Taitai I hope you’re all over the jet lag by now! Our summer heat probably isn’t as humid or hot as yours but your DS1 might not enjoy the endless winters (if you flew into OHare I assume you all are somewhere in the midwest area). We don’t have access to all that tasty fresh fruit either (and our bday parties are slightly tamer 😂)

I spent the morning running errands trying to find stuff so we can finish the master bath renovation. H overdid it with working around the house this morning and doesn’t want to go to his parents tomorrow for the 4th. However, I just want to get out of the house. As crazy as my inlaws can be the girls do love spending time with their cousins and it gives me some time where I don’t have to be doing house chores or entertaining kids or whatnot. If nothing else our neighbors usually go all out with fireworks so I guess we can sit in the back porch and watch their show 🤷♀️

danvers Exactly! I told DS1 he’d probably love living here if it was summer year round, but he doesn’t realize how cold, grey, and icky it gets in the winter! At least he can think of this place as his happy summer spot 😊

Happy 4th of July O17! Hope all of the Americans have a fantastic time celebrating our country’s birthday! We have two parties to attend today, and I’m really looking forward to seeing H’s 92 year old grandma at one of them. She is in amazing shape, and I love her dearly. So excited for the boys to celebrate the 4th with her!

Didn't you decide to keep the girls in daycare? what did you end up doing yesterday? bootsorhearts1 hope baby girl is back to normal and little tots oh man! lil fella over here regressed eversince being sick. He used to run to the toilet whenever he needed to poop but since he had been sick, he hasn't been saying anything. Taitai that's really great that your kids get to experiece 2 different sets of cultures and that they enjoy both.

We had such a great day yesterday. I was debating on taking the kids to the next town to see a parade along with other activities the town had going on but decided to keep it low key instead. Our podunk town usually has a bicycle parade on the 4th. and so we decided to go to that instead and so glad we did, it was low key and the kids had a blast! DS was so excited to decorate his balance bike and ride the 2 blocks around town. A police car started them off and the town fire truck followed behind all the participants. 2 blocks was short and quick and I had to stop DS from going around a 4th time! He thought it was a race and went so fast that now hubs and I are thinking of actually finding a race he can compete in lol! Hubs and him rode all the way into town and back which was a lot for a little guy like him - about 3 miles round trip not including riding around town and lil fella and me hoofed it, I carried him on my back and I am all sorts of pain tonight haha! Anyways we had such a good time. Both kids were so tired thankfully and actually slept through the fireworks that my loud neighbors were setting off from 9-11pm! I have no problems with people celebrating but I think 10pm would've been a considerate cut off time. I'll even give them the benefit that they were shooting off a bunch of illegal fireworks because it rained yesterday evening plus we have been getting quite a bit of rain and it isn't as horrifyingly dry as it typically is. What's everyone's weekend looking like? I imagine doodlemommy and August Blooms are packing? We've got a busy weekend. DS has a birthday party to attend to tomorrow and we're having a couple of friends over on Sunday afternoon for a BBQ and it's given me an excuse to try this recipe which I've been dying to try ever since I saw it on the cover and I am going to make a Lemon tart which I haven't made in a very long time. Exciting times here.

duskymonkey That flank steak recipe looks awesome! So glad to hear you guys enjoyed the low key bicycle parade on the 4th. That sounds perfect! - A nice little slice of Americana 😊 We have no big plans this weekend, and I’m thrilled. We have been visiting sooooo many people and driving all over the place. We need some time as a family to just chill and get into a routine. I think a Target run and a trip to the park are all we have for today, which is lovely.

duskymonkey yep - the girls go to daycare most days which helps so I can get all the stuff done around the house. I absolutely hate mowing and we have 2 acres so the outside stiff is on me right now, 🤞 H gets cleared to do some more stuff this week at his follow up The bike parade sounds so cute! Taitai hope you all enjoyed your 4th celebrations! curmudgeon I think you’re on your kid free vacation so I hope you are enjoying lots of sunshine, sleep, and good food!

Hey hey! We just got done snorkeling. H is paddle boarding and I’m taking a beach break because my arms are tired. Lol Also I got my period today, right in the middle of my BC pack so that is just super awesome. Thankfully a gift shop had some tampons so activities can resume a scheduled.

duskymonkey that looks yum! I love roasted corn. curmudgeon are you on the mini pill? I am on that and I feel like I get periods every couple of weeks it’s really annoying. I might ask for the implant or the shot instead. I’m not really good about taking it consistently.

Granted I just started it 2 months ago but ugh I was hoping it wouldn’t come at all, or at least not till the placebo pills like normal.

duskymonkey No packing the house we still have some time but we are packing for our trip out west to visit the IL’s. DD1 got a little too excited and shoved a bunch of her clothes in her backpack. I had to explain that we still had a few more days to go before we needed to pack her bag. curmudgeon Like was for the trip not the surprise period. That’s the worst.

We’re home! At breakfast this morning H looked at me and said hey this time tomorrow you’ll be back at work! Way to ruin our last hours in paradise dude. It was a fun relaxing getaway for a long weekend. Already talking about returning with the boys. They’d have so much fun.

We have indeed starting packing, mostly because I also want to take the time to clean out and purge stuff rather than just cleaning. My mom is coming over 2 days this week and 2 days next week to help me pack! Assuming the sellers agree, we are moving our possession date earlier to July 22 (they asked on the weekend if we wanted July 20 but that’s a Saturday and we were hesitant with banks and lawyers being closed so we are asking for the Monday instead, just waiting to hear back). If it works out that will give the flooring guys 4 full days and we can be working on moving boxes in the evenings so that the Saturday is mostly furniture and big stuff. We are getting so excited but it’s overwhelming to realize we will be moved in 3 weeks!!!

@doodlommy How exciting! Good luck with all the packing and moving. That’s so nice your mom is able to help out. curmudgeon Great to hear that you guys had a nice time in Mexico. I bet your boys would love a trip to the ocean next time! All is good over here. DS1 started a mini summer camp today, which he will attend for the rest of this month for half days during the week. I’m hoping he’ll love all the activities and make some new American friends! We’re trying to get into a daily routine, but with so many requests for visiting/outings, that’s been kind of tough. Not sure when things will settle down though- so many friends and family to see. The boys are loving all the attention though!

We are back from our family beach vacation. The car rides on both sides of the trip were not great and felt unbearable at times, but those car memories are already fading and our time at the beach was really great. We had perfect weather, a truly beautiful beach that wasn't overcrowded, and we made loads of great memories. We are already thinking about when we can go back to this spot.
We had terrible cell reception down there and couldn't get the wifi in our condo to work right, so we unplugged for the week. Sort of annoying at times, sort of nice at times. Back at work today and fully plugged in......

I'm glad your H is on the mend, though. cythe so glad to read the update on E in the June thread. Go E!! It sounds like you are enjoying your trip so far Taitai! Guys I’m pregnant and freaking out. I had an IUD put in September. DH and I have barely been in the same room together never mind having sex and my period is late but it’s been wonky since I got the IUD and I went for a run yesterday and was feeling tired so I went to the dollar store before picking the kids up and got 2 cheapies... they were positive... so I went to the drug store and got 2 more, a pink dye and a digital... and they were positive... WTF!!?!?! DH isn’t home yet. I called the OBGYN they are obviously closed and I’m not in pain so I’m not going to emergency but we leave on vacation on Thursday morning!!!!
