Busy day here. We got back from the Cape around 10 and unpacked. Luckily there was laundry at the beach house so I did it all yesterday. Then I went to HomeGoods and the pet store to get some last minute things for the cats. Came home and set up all of their stuff then ran right back out to drive an hour and a half to CT to pick them up.
Eevee did great and hardly made a sound until about a half hour from home when she threw up. I had lined the carriers with puppy pads so I pulled over and it was an easy cleanup. Marty cried the whole ride. When we got home he ran right up to his mom. It was really cute. I didn’t put them in the same carrier because he annoys her in small spaces. They are set up in the guest bedroom. The door is open but they are hanging there for now. Marty has ventured out a couple of times and loves all of the toys. Eevee is content napping under the bed. The only challenge has been getting C to give them space.
Anyway, that’s my cat diary for the day. 😻

Oh FFS I just heard the host telling her kid they're going to eat, then do cake, then water balloons, then a pinata. It's supposed to end in 11 minutes. All the kids already ate because it's damn near 3 o'clock. I want out of here.

inthekitty Is it at a party place or a house? If a house, don’t think they’re sticking with the time. Sorry! klong11 So darn cute! I love her glasses.

There are two Fourth of July events tonight with fireworks that are free. We’ll probably venture out to one of them. I ran errands earlier. I am never going to Walmart on a Saturday ever again in life. The worse part is they didn’t have half my list in stock. 🤦🏽♀️

It should have ended 16 minutes ago and they are just now preparing for activities. I'm never going to a party at a house again unless I know the people well. At a party place at least you know you'll be out at a certain time.

Christ, I'm at a birthday party and 1.5 hours in they haven't done cake, games, gifts or show any signs of doing it. The party is only supposed to be 2 hrs and I want to get out of here by then. #introvertproblems That sounds like torture. What are they doing? We went to a zoo party last week and it was over in 90 minutes. It was scheduled from 1:30-3:30 but wrapped up early. Perfection. 🙌🏻

There's a bounce house. The host was upstairs in the house almost the entire time. She was cooking food (mac and cheese, hot dogs), but the kids already ate the snack food and didn't want anymore by that point. Your party sounds perfect. There's only so much small talk I can make with complete strangers.

Now that hes warmed up they love that he seeks them out.

Literally nothing but having the kids play in the yard/bounce house by that point. Which would be fine if that's all they were doing and then telling people it's time to peace out, but apparently that was just the pregaming and real party didn't start until after it was supposed to end. 🙄 I was planning on being out of here an hour ago.

Can you just dip inthekitty? Just tell the host you have another obligation. I’ve seen parents do this at parties and it’s no big deal.

I would have, but the kids knew there was going to be water balloons and a pinata. Plus Cass lives for cupcakes. I think there would have been a meltdown if we ditched. It's 1.5 hrs after it was supposed to end. Cass is over it. I'm about to collect Maddie.

That is just insane inthekitty. I hope there was booze. Hosting a kid's bday party isn't rocket science...keep it moving, people.

My aunt and uncle are in town. My aunt is some kind of magic. Honest- when she prays for you, you can feel heat radiating from her into you. I would never believe it if it hadn't happened to me. So I had her pray over my belly that I go into labor 😂

Hi boring day here. I’ve done 7 loads of laundry and still have more to do. I have a load of dishes going, lasagna cooking in the oven and a overnight cinnamon roll bake chillin in the fridge. I organized my breast milk stash since C disorganized it so he could put his meal prep in the freezer chest.
I’m hoping to finish laundry tomorrow and do some meal prep for the week and clean out the linen closet.

Speaking of parties... Mh took M to a gymnastics party last Dec and the party started without the birthday girl. She didn’t arrive until almost an hour after it started. She missed half her party. I have wondered ever since what made them late. Like was it just the mom not having her shit together, or like an actual emergency.

Whoa, inthekitty. Keep it moving and then if people want to stay later to play after everything is done, let them if you want!

Like they never said, "oh *birthday girl* isn't here because xyz"? That's so odd.

It's 8:45. I've been laying in bed for 30 minutes thinking I might just go to bed. I'm a party animal.

Ugh my kids. N slept through the party and mh didn't wake her.. so I was there with j, who was the biggest kid and totally into the sports theme, so much that he kept bugging the host dad to pitch to him. He didn't eat anything besides cake so was a bit OOC and talking back to me when I finally got him out the door. The neighbors are super nice and their next door neighbors are really friendly as well, so that is good at least. I'm fairly annoyed mh didn't make an effort to meet people, it's like he doesn't care we don't have friends locally and it's all on me.
Now time for school work...

That's so strange lahdeedah. Was there another adult there (dad, etc) from the family, or just all the guests and the gymnastics place employees?

I spent 3 hours cleaning out the pantry because what I thought was roach poop was actually tiny bugs. So gross.
It’s been 3 hours since every thing has been on the kitchen floor and I’m still finding bugs in the pantry. Where are you fuckers coming from?

This has happened to my parents a couple times when they leave town for the summer and get back. Usual suspects are the pasta, oatmeal, rice, cereal, crackers...check your dry goods. (they have learned and now pitch everything before leaving) Or potatoes and onions...I've seen those, too. eta: www.tasteofhome.com/collection/how-to-get-rid-of-bugs-in-your-pantry/

They come already in packages of what you’ve bought, like rice, beans, etc. I’ve tossed 3 trash bags worth of crap. I take no risks. Lol.
