*whispers* I'm not entirely sure how caucauses work.... I'd liken it to a game of Red Rover or Dodgeball. The side with the most people left standing at the end is the winner
Had I not been there in Iowa in 2004, I'd think your explanation was an exaggeration. But this is so accurate.

I still like Harris, but everyone in my world is anti-her because of her background. After the debates I'm all about Castro too. I love Harris, and I need to come up with a better short answer to people who spew sound bites at me about her background as a prosecutor. And also whether she's "electable". Same goes for Warren, everyone I talk to likes her but is worried she's too progressive. Also she's a woman. Womp womp.

All of that would be a nonstarter if Kamala and Liz were old white men.

I'm a little annoyed at some current candidates who are ALSO MEMBERS OF CONGRESS stating that "Kids are being torn from their parents at our border and held in cages—I won’t wait for Congress to solve this crisis. On Day One of my presidency, we will take immediate steps to end this administration’s moral vandalism."
there are 567 days between now and Jan 20, 2021. we can't wait that long and you are a fucking senator, sir. (I'm specifically looking at you Booker, but others are just as guilty)
Its really bothering me and I'm not sure what to do about it. I feel like they are getting whatever from yelling about it but aren't doing anything.

I complete understand your annoyance but what can they do with Mitch McConnell refusing to bring any bill he doesn't like to the floor? McConnell has completely brought the normal processes to a complete stand still. I do think he (and others) should be calling McConnell out by name since he pretty much owns the legislative standstill.

It's really weird for members of the government to visit government facilities and go "this is terrible we should end this!" and not be able to do anything about it. I wonder what it must feel like for the people on those detention centers. "Oh, government officials are here! They are against this treatment of us! Surely things will change now....wait they're getting back in their cars....oh."

And all of this inability to take concrete action really highlights that we absolutely do not have coequal branches of government. These past two years have really stripped away any illusions we once had that every function was codified and protected. It's jarring to say the least.

I agree and I think it should be included in every.single.talking.point. We've gotten to a point where the public is so used to the atrocities happening and the us vs them mentality I dont see a way back though.

It was SO hot today, like 100* heat index and 90% humidity. Kamala sat outside and talked to people for a good hour and a half after she spoke. Seriously, I was blown away by her. She was so gracious, kind, and her speech was phenomenal. She is having a town hall with NARAL this evening. I’m disappointed we can’t make it to that too. If she comes to your area you need to see her in person! Also, and I hate to bring looks into but man, she is absolutely beautiful. My boys were two of only three kids there and the CNN folks gave them a lot of camera time. So if you see two little blondies in coverage of the event, they are likely mine

I love this new kamala poster and I really wish they'd put it on a coffee mug. I'd order one in a heartbeat. Actually, two, so that I'd have a backup.

So we were just at my grandparents house. It's hard to label them. They despise Trump but I don't know that they really have strong or informed views on a lot of policies. They are from the south, definitely have racist beliefs and still articulate certain things now and again.
BUT as we were watching MSNBC and election coverage came on, they showed Kamala and completely unprompted he said, "I hope she gets it." I nearly fell out of my chair. I cannot communicate how shocking this is to me. To hear him articulate that a black woman be our president is just...something. That certainly does not excuse the things he believes and says at times.
He later went on to say that he didn't think Biden would get the nomination. Unfortunately, he has a bit of a colorful past and is unable to vote. We'll make sure my grandma votes when it's time though.

I just ordered the rainbow "KAMALA" bumper sticker and a t-shirt. On the subject of good merch, have you seen the Lovett or Leave It bottle opener and keychain that say "Let's get into it" ??

Biden is quickly becoming BEC for me.
I just listened to (most) of his interview with Cuomo. His "come on man, come on man" really just went up my spine.
He took a dig at AOC, he dug at Kamala. It wasnt outright but it was there, at least in my opinion. "She didnt win a general" (AOC). So what 'man'. Shes still in congress and shes DOING things.
Also I know Kamala, she knew Beau. I dont know why she would say what she said.
sigh

LOL to earlier in the day me. For lunch, we had a GTG with the other side of the family-basically some great aunts and uncles and their kids and their kids, etc. Now both sides of my family are cut from the same cloth-one side is not more progressive from the other.
Anywho, I was feeding the baby and was facing the backs of everyone in line getting food. One of my dad's first cousin's kid (so my age) was wearing a shirt that had the 2nd amendment written on the back of it. Then I noticed that his shirt was bulging on one side by his hip. That idiot had his gun. We are in the middle of nowhere at my great-great grandparents' house surrounded by family-like who the actual fuck did you think you might need to defend yourself from?
The best part...he is a high school history teacher 🤬. I am sure he would be first in line for arming teachers with guns.

I read a transcript. To me, Joe is very much saying "why can't we just keep doing things the way we've always done them? Why do we need all these young/female/non-white people trying to shake things up? I was COMFORTABLE with the way things were before! Come on, man!"

I really do not like candidates offering a chance to win having a drink with them. I’ve seen Warren offer beer and Kristen is doing whiskey. It is really rubbing me the wrong way.
