I didn't watch and haven't even scrolled for hot takes other than here, but so far I'm beyond thrilled that no one is crowning Biden the winner. That seems like a huge step. IMO, he was a mess last night. He willingly ceded his time. Who does that?! I think part of it is also
he hasnt been on a debate stage in a primary in a very long time.
Debate rules have gone out of the window in the last 6ish years.
Previous debates did not go over time by minutes and moderators shut it down more often than not. I'm not kidding when I say I remember the audience being almost silent in long ago debates. And when there was noise they were admonished. The last couple of debates have been more like rallies and its honestly distracting and ridiculous. You want to cheer? Watch at home or in a green room.
Also I dont think he was prepared for the minute amount of venom directed his way. Up until recently he's really been beloved or had the appearance of it. And it threw him.

Chiming in... after last night, I think I’d be down with a Harris/Buttigieg ticket.

I'm still in on Harris. I need more info to decide who I want beside her though

My list:
Harris Warren Castro Booker Mayor Pete Klobuchar Gillibrand
Castro and Mayor Pete moved up the most on my list after the debates. I’ve been hating on Mayor Pete but I really enjoyed his answers last night. I don’t think he’s ready for President but I’m really glad he’s in the race.
I like a Harris/Booker or Castro ticket or Warren/Castro or Mayor Pete ticket
People I appreciate being there but don’t think are “it”: Inslee, Swalwell, Bennett

I think I'm over Gillibrand. She almost always feels too rehearsed.

I think I'm over Gillibrand. She almost always feels too rehearsed. I left her on my list because I truly love her, but she’s not doing it for me right now. I know she’s passionate and I love her ideas, but something just isn’t clicking. I think her communication of her ideas is strained. Like she must be forcing herself into some non-natural to her communication style. I would love to work with her on a project. She’d be great and then I’d pick someone else to do the group presentation.

I think I'm over Gillibrand. She almost always feels too rehearsed. Gillibrand stays on my list for her fierce advocation of bodily autonomy. But, yes. I don't think she's a natural public speaker.

I'm on vacation so I didn't watch the debates, but I love Warren forever and ever.
Mayor Pete is too green for me.
Pfffft to all the old white guys.

As a politics junkie I have watched a loooooot of interviews with these candidates and they all have those carefully tested and rehearsed lines or responses that they give over and over. But candidates like Harris and Warren and Bootechad deliver them in a believable way without sounding forced

NYT had an opinion piece about a Harris/Mayor Pete ticket. How amazing would it be to watch Mayor Pete debate Mike Pence? I think Pence would shit his pants and I would enjoy every minute of it.

1. Harris 2. Warren 3. Castro/Mayor Pete 5. Klobachar 6. Booker
Harris/Castro or Harris/Castro would be my ticket right now.

A. Warren or Harris B. Buttigieg or Castro
So someone from group A with someone from group B. Although Warren/Buttigieg would be dream ticket as of right now, DH would pick Harris though
My dad (staunch D) is Biden (even after last night), which is disappointing

Current list: 1) Harris 2) Warren 3) Castro 4) Buttigieg (he is a close 3b) 5) Gillibrand/Booker tie (I don't love either for president and am frustrated with them both for different reasons but wanted to still make sure they were included on my list) People I would like to remain in for a while to hear more but don't make my list: Swalwell Inslee Klobuchar O'Rourke Go away right now: Williamson Gabbard White guys whose names on I see on the list but have ZERO idea who they are (Steve Bullock, Mike Gravel, Joe Sestak) Dream ticket, as of now (I reserve the right to change my mind a billion times still): Harris/Castro But I would also not be disappointed with a Harris/Buttigieg ticket This is me 100% right now. Mind twins.

I feel very sad for the Obamas. Biden is putting them in a terrible position right now. This will not end well.

I feel very sad for the Obamas. Biden is putting them in a terrible position right now. This will not end well. Eh. They are savvy political experts who will be fine. They will not be endorsing a candidate until they have to during the primaries, if at all. Too much risk until the candidate is known.

Like do they pick up the phone and say “buddy, you’ve got a blind spot on the whole racism topic”?

In news that surprises no one, Buzzfeed tracks the racist tweets alleging Kamala is not black enough to Obama birthers and Nazis:
