This is the hard part with the newer laws requiring 2 years AND 30 lbs. **knock on wood** we don't have a car sick issue with DS1 but he'll be 3 in September and he's only 26 lbs. DS2 is 9 months and 20 lbs so at this rate I'll be turning them both around at the same time. Good luck getting those last 2 pounds out of the way quickly. Have they changed the law since 2017? The CT law then was 2 years or 30, which is what NY passed around the same time Yup. They went into effect October 2017.

Thatβs the most ridiculous thing Iβve ever heard of! (I donβt agree with RF until 2 laws as it is because not every child can until 2) Come move here and commute in π€£

My kid never ever cries when we drop him off and he cried when I left this morning. He probably just wanted more Cheerios I let him have in the car. I was so relieved to drop him off after a morning full of tantrums and cry yelling all the way there but then he actually made me feel bad.

@starzia the 360 cups? I think read you already use them but they donβt work?
@ whomever is struggling with sleep - I did PSL like @starzia but then my kids had a terrible regression that we fed into and ruined everything. I just read βItβs never too late to sleep trainβ and it had really good advice for people with older toddlers and kids, too. Just a suggestion.
Weβre going full sleep training next week. I have hand surgery so I canβt even pick him up if I wanted to. Dh is on vacation. I am out of two for two weeks to recover. π€πΌπ€πΌπ€πΌ

We brought him into our bed one night a couple weeks ago because he was sick and he cried so hard wanting to sleep in our bed the next night but thankfully he seems to be mostly over it. We've had a couple weeks of him crying at bedtime and I am holding my ground so far. I'm going to recommend that book to my sister whose almost 4YO still sleeps with them. ETA: And good luck next week - I hope it goes well!

Make your own pizza night here. Dd put everything on her pizza and went to town because sheβs a beast. Ds put on pepperoni and red peppers...no sauce or cheese. Is it even pizza at that point?! Then he proceeded to eat just the crispy pepperoni and left the crust and peppers. π€¨

DD insists she wants some. Throws a fit. We give her a tiny bit and she sprinkles it on all her food. She then refuses to eat anything that has cheese on it. Me:

I found out that my town's high school has open access to the pool every weekday starting in July from 1-3pm. I mentioned it to my mother and she was less than interested. Yes it's typically during DDs nap, but she's 3 and doesn't always need it and FREE POOL ACCESS! I wish I had more PTO so I could take her.
It's funny because one of the musts when looking for a house was that it had to have a pool or room for a pool. We got one that has a yard that could, with some effort and grading, fit a good sized above ground pool. We haven't done it because we are still waiting on that financial windfall π€£π€£ but I've gotten to a point where I don't really want one. Mh is never home during the summer as it is and if he had to maintain a yard and the pool it would be too much. Also $$$. We have a blow up pool, sprinkler, and water table which is more than enough. I have a feeling in a few years I'll be back to wanting a pool, but by then DD should be old enough for camp anyways.

Are there any community pools that have hours on the weekends for cheap? You could look in neighboring towns too - I think ours is like an extra dollar for non-residents. We are waitlisted (going on 2.5 years now) at a daycare that has a pool and has pool time for preschool aged kids but we'll never get in so.

The other day my kid happily took a big bite of broccoli, chewed it up, and spit it out. Progress?

He is semi-regularly eating carrots and but not much else but I'm mostly ::shruggy guy:: about it and it makes my life easier.

piratecat, I still give DD pouches to supplement veggies. She fn loves them and it's not like she's going to eat a serving of Kale if I give it to her. I have found that she will eat and try veggies raw. She does not like cooked ones, especially carrots.

DS won't eat veggies except corn (he ate it off the cob for the first time recently and thought he was hot shit). He will dip carrots in hummus and lick off the hummus. But that's all we've gotten so far. We serve all kinds throughout the week, but he's not having any of it. Toddlers. Yay.

He wants them even more now that little brother is getting purees. I like to look for the ones that are higher calorie/protein/fiber because it can be a struggle to get him to eat dinner some nights so I like the ones that are veggies with beans or something blended in.

I also grab the carrot broccoli combo ones because DD goes ham on them. Won't touch broccoli otherwise but it's ok in pouch form. π€·ββοΈ

On the flip side, I don't think I've eaten so much broccoli and carrots in my life so I guess that's a plus.

I still give both my kids toddler pouches that are fruit & vegetables. It's basically like applesauce pouches and a little extra fiber never hurts. My oldest has constipation issues and my youngest just likes the way they taste. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Happy Baby and Sprout brand pouches have 4-5 grams of fiber.

Our daycare arranged for a school bus so the kids can play on it for a bit. They sent pictures of the kids and I'm over here thinking I've never seen those kids in my life! I am the worst.

Nah, I know a handful of the kids and that's only because DD talks about them. Most I wouldn't be able to pick out in a lineup. Especially now that I rarely do drop off and pick ups now.

Ugh I am freaking out because my sister is thousands of miles and 11 time zones away and her cats that were being boarded are sick and are at the vet. One is doing okay but the other needs to be transferred to an emergency/24 hour hospital for overnight care and who knows how she'll make out. I am 5 hours away and I wish I could go see them and bring them home but all I can do is talk to the vet and make arrangements for my parents to help out with what they can. This is basically my nightmare - something happening to my cats while we are away. I am trying to get in touch with my sister and I just feel so awful at the thought of my sister waking up to deal with this while on vacation.

sheilathetank, both cats seem to be doing okay, I am hoping they can both go home to my parents' before the end of the day. It's been tricky because they are now being seen by two different vets at two different facilities and neither is their regular vet. They are special needs (wobbly) and neither vet knows their baseline condition. I keep feeling like I'm not asking the right questions, especially because they have very little idea what got them sick in the first place, and I feel like they keep forgetting about the fact that they both turned up sick together and taking that into consideration. I need to call back for updates again soon and see what the plan is.
