Hopefully today is my last day of job shadow and I’m free again.
B slept like crap. Not sure if teeth or the next leap. I’m suppose to go out with friends tonight so I will be drinking all the caffeine.

I’m wiped out today. I ran a really tough race yesterday, and then I had to shovel the driveway solo this morning because H is at work. E has been napping for almost two hours now though, so that’s a good thing.
I’ve got so much cleaning to do, but I can’t find the motivation. It’s school vacation week, so I’ll do it another day.

Morning, got a lot done yesterday and actually went to bed last night feeling ready for the week. I'm at work today, no holiday for me, ate my 2 pt WW breakfast and really enjoyed it. I should have packed better snacks, though I was able to scavenge a clementine and some almonds from my stash.

Morning!
I'm at work and tired. No good reason why just a case if the Mondays. Ds2 was not a fan of the snow yesterday lol. He tolerated it for a bit but then he stuck his hand in the snow and his boot and sock fell off and he was done! It didn't help that he was over tired. Ds1 had a blast and both boys took good naps after so it was a win in my book!

Hi! I’m hungover! 🤣 Dh and I went out to a wine bar last night. Then we walked the pier with crazy winds to make sure we didn’t get home before bedtime! Ha. Then we stayed up playing a game with ILs and drinking more champagne when my friend came home with a case from wine tasting. Sunday funday....oooof. 5:45 came quickly.
DS went from finally walking without holding a hand Thursday, to playing soccer yesterday! He’s crazy! Also he has been signing new signs every day! What a leap!!
We went to Seaworld this weekend and the kids loved it. Our friend got us passes, so it was nice not to have to force seeing everything in one day.

Ds2 was up talking from like 1130-1am then started crying so I didn't fall asleep until 145am. So tired. It's a pretty day at least so I'm hopeful to get the kids outside for a bit.

ldubhawksfan you give me hope. B can walk holding on like a champ but when we let go he just plops down. It’s a blast.

bethkate congratulations on your race yesterday!! Thanks! It was rough. I finished in almost exactly the same time as my last half marathon in December, but I was so much more sore!

Today has started off in a very frustrating way. We left the cabin at 10 am on schedule, and then our friends had issues with the chains on their cars and 2 hours later we are still here. 😒 They have finally left after multiple stops. Our car is totally fine because AWD. Our ETA to get home has already increased by over an hour to almost 4 hours. We are now at McDonalds because at this point, why not eat lunch before leaving. Ugh. If it were just us, we would be over halfway home by now.
Anyway. I just had to vent. We had fun this weekend and I would do it again but woof.

There is nothing worse than trouble getting home after a nice weekend away! Especially travelling with kids and car nap schedules!! Fx your ride home is uneventful and faster than expected.

H and I are both very efficient travelers so when we go anywhere with other people it's a struggle. It's why in May we will be flying to Iowa and will meet MIL who plans to drive. Driving long distances with MIL; have done before, will never do again.

I'm on break this week too. I slept in until 530 (lol) drank coffee while it was got, ran two miles, and have been playing with the girls all day. I did run a few questions by the builder and started our pre-approval process. Then I called the city school district out there to beg for a job. I taught one year there right out of college nine tears ago. They made it pretty obvious they can't find health teachers to save their lives, said they'll have multiple openings for the fall, and to update my resume and application so they can try to get me on board sooner rather then later. Then they asked if I was available immediately (also lol). I'll still likely sniff around because I had a pretty awful experience last time, but I was 22 and niave so I'd like to think that since I'm still in urban education now I'll be fine.

So I’m pretty sure I’m going to quit L&D. I have 4 buddy shifts left. I do not feel even remotely competent to practice in a safe manner. I also do feel like I’m fitting in socially on the unit. I really hope that it doesn’t result in me being let go from the postpartum side. I love my job there.

Not much happening with me. Yesterday was my mom’s birthday so my sister and I took her out to a “makers market” and then out to lunch. Today we have started to reorganize an area between our living room and hallway. It’s had a desk there for the last 5 years but the computer didn’t really work and it was basically a dumping ground. I bought a 5 shelf bookcase to replace a 2 shelf one in our living room because our books have gotten out of control. So today was focused on cleaning things out. Tomorrow the boys go to daycare and we’lll hopefully finish it off. I’m exhausted. I’be been having a terrible time falling asleep lately have been up way too late. I have no idea why.

I feel like L&D is probably one of those niche spots for people and they probably see a lot of people who try it and find it's not a good fit. I can only imagine how crazy working in L&D must be. I'm sure it'll be no hard feelings. Hopefully you can still be in the postpartum ward.

H and I are both very efficient travelers so when we go anywhere with other people it's a struggle. It's why in May we will be flying to Iowa and will meet MIL who plans to drive. Driving long distances with MIL; have done before, will never do again. Ugh, yes. On Saturday, I had DD1 and myself ready to go at 7:30 am, and had finished cooking breakfast for everyone, so that we could get out to the door to ski by 7:45. We did not leave until 8:45. I didn’t show my frustration but I was super frustrated. We ran into traffic getting to and parking at the resort, and got DD into ski school late (there was a line so we weren’t last but still). Next time I am insisting on just leaving. This never happens with my family. We always leave on time. So. The 2 hour 45 minute drive without traffic will take us at least 6 hours. We left at 1 pm from lunch, it is 4:35 and we haven’t even gone down past the snow level. We won’t be home until past 7. Which is now past DD2’s bedtime. We will have to stop at least once more. I’m not happy. I just want to be home. Partially it is the bad road conditions. But if we would have left earlier, we would have been much better off.

The girls are honestly being so great though. They haven’t complained much at all. DD1 not at all, DD2 has cried a little. I’m thankful they are so easygoing.

We had DD’s 4th bday party today. Only half of the people came than usual- some were on holidays, some were sick. But it was nice, quiet and lots of fun.
Of course I feel like absolute shit all of a sudden. I started getting the chills and my throat all of a sudden felt like I was stabbing knives done it. It just came out of nowhere. Hoping it doesn’t last too long.
I still have her friend’s party on Wednesday - literally just 2 kids and her at McDonald’s with thief’s parents for lunch and cupcakes. She has 2 besties at preschool that are like inseparable. It’s so cute.
Then on her actual bday (Thursday) we will go to DQ for supper and then the in-laws will come over for presents as they are away on holidays right now.

snuff9861, that's a tough one! There is a lot to learn in L&D I'm thinking. thatgolfb, I hate being late like that. Always happens on group trips it seems. bethkate, nice work on the race! Enjoy your week off and cnf too. I am a bit sick today, what I thought was a cold yesterday started bugging my stomach today. Also DH got it and has been puking half the evening. Thankfully I was starting to feel better by then and never threw up. I took DD to my parents for dinner just to keep her away. Crossing my fingers she doesn't get it too. A pretty sad way to use my long weekend day though.

thatgolfb that really sucks- there was no option to leave them behind? I would have been frustrated too. I wanted to, but their car got stuck in the snow so they wouldn’t have otherwise been able to get to the ski lesson for their son. So after trying to get their car out, we just took them in our car. And today, we could have just left, because really there wasn’t much we could do but help with the chains, but I would have felt bad if they and their kids got stranded and we just left them. IDK. We will be home at 8:15. We stopped and had dinner and I’m hoping Dd2 falls asleep on the way. We are an hour from home.

Anyway, sorry for bitching, everyone. It truly could have been worse. We all made it up and down the mountain safely, and we had an amazing time while we were there. I would 100% do it all again!
I’m going to be positive for the rest of the week. Posting that here to hold myself accountable. 🤣
