Today is decades day at the dc. Cadence is dressed head to toe as a pink lady. Waiting patiently for mh to send me the pictures of my creation. So fun! Make sure you share a pic. eta: I see you just did--she looks great! Our preschool in FL always had a sock-hop around Valentine's Day. The kids and teachers would dress up and it was SO cute. I can't wait to be back so I can get C a poodle skirt! I think this and and a greaser would be a perfect little Halloween costume for my two next year!

My dad is picking S up early from DC and taking him to Karate and then out to dinner. It's their first time doing something like this alone together and I'm a bit nervous (my dad is 79 and gets confused about stuff easily. And he can't hear at all despite the hearing aids. Fortunately S is super good, esp with him, but still. My dad has asked me 3 different times how to put his karate uniform on. I have a feeling one of the instructors will have to help!
Tomorrow night I have a moms' night out with some of the moms' from DC. Should be fun. And our new couch and bed are both being delivered tomorrow! I'm super excited since we bought them in December and November respectively.
MH got rid of the old couch before he left, so we've been without a couch for a week. It's been weird. But the kids have just sat in their Anywhere Chairs.

Ugh vino that's awful. Out CFO actually lives up by you ( I think, although truthfully, I really don't know where you live), and comes to our office 1 week out of every month. He is constantly sending me weather updates and it's bananas how cold it's been! This has me laughing. Where does he live? I'm in Edmonton.

Hi girls! I just cycled home in sunny 55 degree weather. I put my feet up, put on Gilmore girls and ate a Valentine’s Day chocolate. In an hour I’m going to dinner with my h. This is glorious.

Morning! I slept in and am just now rolling out of bed (I’ve been up for an hour). I want to do a few things before I pick the kids up at lunch time. I’m crossing all my fingers and toes that I conceived a sticky baby last night. You’re welcome for that TMI. crossing everything that we have another november baby. Haha! Getting pregnant on Valentine's Day will get you an 11/8 due date don't ask me how i know this.

Morning! I got an email that Michael's is doing a big sale this weekend and all their spring/Easter stuff is now half-off. I might try to swing by there and get some Easter stuff. I am in such a spring mood; It's almost 70 here today (but going back to the 40s tomorrow--yay. (<--sarcasm)) I saw that, but I don’t think I’m ready for Easter and spring just yet. I put out the every day wreath I have, and I purchased a eucalyptus-y looking one (today, actually) for above the fire place. We don’t usually decorate for St. Patrick’s day, and Charlie’s birthday will be day of and the weekend of his party, but I’m not ready for eggs, carrots, and bunnies. I just want to buy all the things I'll try to wait til March to actually decorate, I want to leave our V-day cards and whatnot up for a bit. I did put up a fresh exterior wreath that I bought last month and some green/white pillows on our porch bench. Things are so brown here, I needed some color. Back home everything is already greening up by this time. Target had a good-looking eucalyptus one in the fall, I think the Joanna Gaines stuff? I was tempted! I have a boxwood one up over the fireplace that I like for year-round.

No such luck...I have a Veteran's Day baby instead (which is also kind of nice for DH, plus easy to remember!)

This year it's practically May!

I’m still not sure what each room needs!

Josie got her school Valentines mailbox and most are cards, maybe a little candy or plastic toy. Both kids are loving it, but we put together a goody bag with a pencil, a set of four stickers, a tiny pad, an eraser, and sharpener. I really thought I was going on the easy side of things. Gift giving is my love language— I don’t know how to tone it down.

jewels that's awesome your dad is up for doing that! I bet they will have fun. I'm hopeful for the day when my dad will offer to take j places.. not holding my breath though. I don't see my FIL doing it either. One, distance but two, he's just not the type. I think he was a very hands-on dad but oddly I don't see that as a grandparent. My dad is really good about taking B out to do stuff and I know C will be added to the mix when she's a touch older. He says he has very good memories of spending time with his own granddad and wants his grandkids to have that, too. I have a lot of thoughts about this since we saw it with my delightful grandmother. She definitely wanted that warm/close relationship as she aged, but she hadn't done much in the early years to build those feelings. I think a lot of grandparents (not speaking to your dad specifically, just in general) they have this idea that they'll do it when the kids are older/more self-sufficient. It's a shame because a) we aren't guaranteed anything time-wise, and b) I really think with kids, you have to make deposits early so you can make withdrawals later. The chance of an older kid or teen wanting to spend time with a grandparent when there's no history there is not as likely as if you'd been spending time with them all along, if that makes sense. Maybe if you said something like that to your dad, it would penetrate.

I was the only one that gave candy with M's valentine's cards. Everyone else had sunglasses, mazes, scratch art, etc.
