Haven't read. My mom just called as I'm eating lunch with A and the boys before going to the aquarium. My dad was pinned between a truck and trailer at work and is being taken by ambulance to the ER. She doesnt even know what hospital yet so we know nothing about his condition. OMG, I hope he's ok!

Checking in with yummeecookee. Are you and Yh affected by the shutdown? IIRC, you both have government jobs, right? Thanks for checking on me !🥰 We both left the govt, me in Sept 17 and him last Jan. So thankfully it’s business as usual here.

We know what hospital. My brother is driving my mom. Aquarium is 10 minutes from it so we're taking the boys through it fast and A will drop me off at the hospital after and take the boys home.

mwhip way late, but for a 'hot lunch', sometimes DH will make chili dogs, or we'll do a frozen pizza or sloppy joes. We do eat a lot of sandwiches or leftovers on the weekend if we're not eating out. DH will also get a craving for something (CFA, Chipotle, 5 Guys, etc) and will happily go out and pick up something to go for whoever wants it.

So I know this isn't ideal and somewhat enabling, but it works for now so IDGAF. I let the girls leave their sleeping bags in our room on the floor. The rule is if they come in at night they go to their sleeping bag. They were getting too damn big to be in bed with us because like most kids they sleep like wild hyenas and are all over the place. Now I don't even notice until the next morning and there on the floor. We all get sleep so it's win-win to me. If that would work I’d be all over it. The problem is that they want to be attached to me like barnacles. You may be surprised. My girls are the same way. MH kept telling them they couldn't come in our bed anymore at night. They knew we didn't like it. When the alternative of the sleeping bags was presented it felt like a reward. While they would much rather be suffocating us like snakes after their prey, they are happy with the sleeping bag arrangement.

I tried this one night and Layla was happy as a clam sleeping on the floor. Tim on the other hand clutched his pearls and told her she couldn't sleep on the floor. Well babe, when she starts crawling into bed on your side and sleeping on your head then you get to wake up and bring her back to bed. Till then it's floor or go back to her room. Her choice.

My brother and SIL did the sleeping bag thing with my oldest nephew. It broke him of coming to their room because his bed was much more comfortable than a sleeping bag on the floor. If it ever gets to the point that I don't sleep well when Evie comes to my bed, then I will do the same. She usually only comes to our bed when H is out of town though, so there is room. Although it's amazing the small space a 41 year old woman, 5 year old and 2 dogs can take up, in a king size bed. GTF away from me, you animals (kid included!).

I don't always wake up either, or I do but not to a conscious state where I am actually functional. Set the sleeping bags up before they go to bed and show them to the girls. Let them know you want them to stay in their beds all night, but if they do come in your room the only place they are allowed to go is the sleeping bag or dad will send them back to their rooms. More than likely, he won't have to get out of bed, but just telling them to go to their rooms will make them scurry to the alternative of the sleeping bag. Hopefully they'll adjust.

mskatiep, right? I'm too out of it to carry them back to their bed and if they're awake enough it will likely lead to tears and not going right back to sleep. The girls are happy for now on the floor too so whatever. But like mwhip's nephew, I'm hoping that eventually their own comfortable beds will be more enticing than the floor. My dog tries to spoon with me at night so it's like I'm never fully free of the foolishness in bed. But once she gets comfortable she's at least still and not thrashing all over me all night.

That’s another kink in the plan. For the last weekish they’ve been sleeping in S’s room on the floor in their sleeping bags. We need to just be firm and tell them what’s up.

peachsmama maybe have A drop you off at the hospital and then he go on to take the boys to the aquarium. That way they can be occupied and you can be with your family.
