Ugh 🤢 any tips. Just pulled out the infant seat and there’s mildew in it. We’ve never gotten mildew in anything I have no idea what happened. Wash it? Mild soap and vinegar? My anxiety is so high right now with this.

My anxiety is so high right now with this. Just wash via the manufacturer's requirements. No vinegar. Dawn on the straps and regular detergent for the cover. If you use vinegar or any other abrasive cleaners you will void the warranty. What make and model is your car seat? I'm a tech.

nmom so britax is hand wash only which makes it kind of a pain. I would recommend contacting Britax. They have really great customer service and see what their recommendation is. Sometimes they will send you new straps and fabric set for your seat for free or very cheap. You really dont want a fragile newborn sitting in a mildewy seat.

That’s what I was thinking :/ I love this brand but makes it hard with the hand wash only thing. Thank you! I’m going to contact them. I looked on their site to see if they sold a new cover and straps but they don’t.

nmom they still might be able to send you a new one even though it's not an option online. I have a b-ready stroller and the brake stopped working 2.5 years later, I called and they replaced the whole frame.

I would hate to loose so much money we have into this thing for only a few months of use.

haleyscott congrats on your new niece! FWIW I get what it’s like to feel like you never got to experience a part of birth, I hope you are able to make peace with a planned C-section, it sounds like you and I are similar in our risk aversions and I know that helps me feel confident in my choices for the most part. All feelings are valid - relief, regret, happiness, sadness - and you can feel any mix of them at the same time, so just give yourself grace as needed.

My BP is pretty high tonight even after 3 readings, I’m going to take another in 20 mins or so and if it’s still high I’ll call triage for peace of mind. I see my doctor first thing tomorrow morning so I’m hoping they’ll say it’s ok to wait on seeing him. I do not feel like driving for an hour to the hospital this late at night. Surely the anxiety of that wouldn’t be great combined with my BP. 😐

Tlex I hope your BP has come back down. I’m just up with pregsomnia mixed with a toddler wake up call. I’ll complain to H tomorrow, but I was already awake watching Netflix anyways. It’ll make me feel less guilty for taking a nap tomorrow instead of working to finish up the nursery. Also, I’ve long been on the RCS train, but have recently been having doubts. I have no idea how I’ll manage recovery with an active 4 year old. Plus the kid bedrooms are upstairs and last time it was easy to avoid going upstairs with just a baby, but not sure what I’m going to do about DD1. My mom will be here for 2 weeks, but then what.

jacks thanks, my latest BP was a-ok, and I double checked! Sorry about the pregsomnia, It’s the worst. Re: recovery with a 4 year old, I personally would think it will be just fine but I don’t know anything about your kid! My 4 year old isn’t carried anymore and can do most self care tasks like dressing and toileting herself, so compared to when she was freshly 2 and her sister came along she seems so independent. After 2 weeks you’ll be ok on stairs, it won’t be nice but you’ll be able to do it for at least bedtime barring any complications. Letting other people take on the tasks like that is for sure the hardest part about adjusting to two kids, but it’s temporary and you can talk candidly with a 4 y/o about that. IME it will seem like a very long time while you’re in it but then it will feel like a blip, just like everything else about having a newborn. I don’t know anything about why you’re having an RCS/ what your odds of a successful VBAC would be so I don’t want you to get the impression I don’t support a VBAC - I totally do - I just know how brutal it is to recover from a failed labour followed by an unplanned C, so that’s my perspective. A planned C was so different for me, recovery was so much easier.

I'm glad your BP came down, Tlex. I'm awake because I heard E crying and she's kind of caught the cold I have and I don't remember MH giving her anything before bed so I got some ibuprofen and zyrtec and water for her and when I got up there she had peed the bed, too. So I got to clean that and her up, which put me into a coughing fit where I almost threw up, and now 30 minutes later I'm trying to sit up a bit and calm my body down before going back to sleep. Just figures, MH is even off tomorrow (today) so I should have had him get up but thought it would just take a second 🤦♀️ at least he can get up and I can sleep in a bit if I need to, now.

Thanks Tlex! DD1 was a failed induction turned unplanned c-section. I think the official diagnosis was her head was too big. She had a huge red mark on her skull where she was pushing up against a bone. I feel pretty confident that this one will have a giant head too (thanks, H!), so RCS is probably the smart way to go so I don’t have to labor prior to surgery. I do forget how quickly I healed the first time, but H had major surgery in a city 5 hours away when DD was 5 weeks old, so hopefully it’ll be at least slightly more helpful to have him help instead of being a patient. My mom really got in my head saying that I couldn’t drive last time or go up stairs. I have pretty much blocked that period of our lives from my memory, so while I don’t recall those restrictions, I guess she does?

jacks omg to your H having surgery 5 weeks after you and all that goes with that, PLUS a newborn. No wonder you don’t remember anything ummmm I would block that out too! FWIW I am not a superwoman, I take all the pain meds for the first week minimum. I wear a belly binder because I feel like my insides are going to fall out without. I don’t drive for 2 weeks regardless of how I feel because I’m a super duper rule follower, but after that I’ve always felt ok to drive (you’re supposed to feel confident you could slam on the break without hesitation due to pain). I avoid stairs at all costs and basically made my family live in the living room if they wanted any attention from me! It is undeniable that it’s a recovery process but this time it should be all about you, and you won’t also be recovering from all that labour entails which I promise makes a huge difference.

Tlex I think I remember you saying you’ve had SPD pain and did PT. Did that help you manage the pain? It helps more with repairing things after, for pain management during I found chiro most effective. It’s not really my jam outside of pregnancy but was a godsend for me for spd so I’ll always give it credit there! The thing that helps most is prevention of further injury, do you have a list of all the do’s and don’ts?

I just sent a message to my doc and she said I could have a PT referal if I wanted it, and to try cat/cow stretches. I’m in so much pain when I go from sitting to standing, almost drop me to my knees sharp stabbing pain in my pubic area. It’s not bad on weekends where I can rest more but I work mon-wed and today is my 12 hour. I’ve been reduced to tears 2x today so I finally messaged my doc. It also is that painful if I’m in my feet for too long. I’m at the end of my rope and can’t imagine going through 9 more weeks and this intensity or worse.

remi I have had similar pains and I went to my osteopath telling her where my pain was. One manipulation and it was gone. I had been dealing with it for weeks.

I went years ago when I threw my back out and again when I was pregnant with my DD 6 years ago. If it will help I will gladly go! That’s really encouraging to hear.

I’m do sorry, I see below you are going to call chiro and I think that’s great! They can probably help you most right now. Very warm (dare I say hot?) baths help me manage the pain most when I’m already hurting badly, Tylenol is crap but take a couple anyways. I use a hot water bottle on my lower back pretty religiously because keeping things loose helps prevent me from overcompensating and hurting my pelvis more. The basic rules are: - minimize walking, no more IKEA that’s for sure! Yes it sucks. Having SPD after having your baby out sucks more. I promise. 😑 - when you’re getting in or out of the car, sit down sideways on the seat keeping knees together, then pressing those legs together swing your body around to forward facing - no sitting on the floor, hard benches etc - no straddling anything - some people find swimming a major relief but be very cautious, it can be easy to overdo it in the pool because it feels so good but the joints are still just as loose as on land so just be aware - sit down to put on underwear and pants, ask for help if you need it - sit down to do the stairs if you need to ... I think that’s most of them but I’ll add anything that I remember! I’m so sorry you’re in pain, it’s really hard. It will end, so just be super easy on yourself and SIT. Tagging orangehibiscus because she was mentioning SPD pain too

I am happy to go into as much detail as you’d like about a planned C section and what it’s like, if that would be useful. IMO it’s a totally different experience from an unplanned one. Someone on the old parenting board told me to think of it as a very exclusive spa treatment that ends in a baby and that cracked me up but it’s not entirely unlike the experience, it’s so relaxed. Recovery was so much better for me the second time because of the relaxed vibe and because my body hadn’t already been through hell and back.

My induction with DD started Monday night and I had the c section Wednesday morning and stayed in L&D in bed for another 24 hours on magnesium. I'm pretty sure that the only way things can go is up. I'm scheduled for 8 in the am. MIL will come stay with DD. I'd like some time right after delivery to just be DH, the baby and I. Last time we really had visitors too quickly and I should have taken more time to rest and snuggle the baby. When will you have your girls drop in?

An exclusive spa treatment that ends with 2 babies I can get down with! I've been stressing a little about my c section because the last one was unplanned and slightly traumatic. Everything was fine in the end, though. Recovery was not bad but we didn't have stairs amd now we have a lot. I'm not sure if I'll hang out on the first floor with the kitchen and half bath, or upstairs with the full bath and my bed???

His head is literally sitting on my bladder and urethra, which causes shooting, burning pains through my vagina when I'm walking. The OB I saw yesterday also suggested the cat/cow stretches, Bradley pelvic tilts, kegels and suggested we have sex in the doggy style position. LOL. K, doc, I'll get right on that. (although H lit up like a Christmas tree at the suggestion). I might take the chiro suggestion myself.
