danvers we fly out tomorrow morning ... at 6 am. And it's a 2 hour drive to get there. H and I will be discussing our plans for getting there. I'd like to avoid hotels everywhere because, money, but dang getting up ag 2 am sounds terrible.

Getting up at 2am does sound truly horrible cythe. But even if you stay right by the airport you’d have to be up at 4ish which is also terrible. When we do early flights we will get ourselves ready and the whole car packed up and then scoop the kids out of their beds at 4/4:30 and put them right in the car. We worry about getting them dressed etc once we are through security so they basically spend that time in a half asleep daze. Not ideal but it works.

Both girls are having a great time up at my parents. There are lots of adults and only the 2 girls so they’re getting lots of attention and playtime.
We went to an indoor carousel today and DD2 loved it. She kept signing “more” at the conclusion of each ride. I’m enjoying the minimal amount of cooking, cleaning, and laundry that needs to be done.

We usually go to my aunt’s New Year’s Day for lunch etc. She emailed everyone saying it’s still on, but she and my uncle have been battling bronchitis and sinus infections. They’re still on antibiotics. Would you go like usual? Go and not eat? Stay home? I feel bad because we didn’t go to her house on Christmas Day.

curmudgeon if they’re on antibiotics they shouldn’t be contagious anymore if that’s the part you’re worried about. Though they may have viral stuff too so who knows. That’s a tough one. Both my babies have bad colds (DD and DH). So we are a miserable lot. DH has been taking showers with her and him holding a naked chubby baby is about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

bootsorhearts1 contagious and hacking up a lung while cooking. My uncle is out on the grill all day and my aunt is making the rest. I may just go and if they look/sound terrible, visit for a little bit and leave.

Apparently I missed a bunch of updates on the last thread! cythe sorry for your loss. And good luck tomorrow! CoachTsWife I hope your hubs is feeling better soon. Keep us updated! I am up with a sick baby (2am). I played ‘does she have a fever? No, but is she starting to get a fever? Will I be up with her again in an hour?’ So in the end I gave her Tylenol. In the end. We use suppositories because she refuses to take oral medicine. 😂 How’s everyone else’s taint holiday going? Our kids are bored because DS is out of school and all their activities like swimming and gymnastics are cancelled until next week. Hoping for another quiet/lazy day at work Monday before the madness starts again. I have to travel for work in a couple of weeks, ugh. Not a long trip but it’s so much prep and I have to pump which I hate and I miss my kiddos. Boo.

curmudgeon Ah, that’s a tough call. The bacterial infection may not be contagious anymore due to the antibiotics, but like bootsorhearts1 said, they also might still be fighting viral stuff... which could have caused the secondary bacterial infections. I think your plan to test it out and leave early if it looks bad is a good one. danvers Sounds like things are going great with your parents! It’s so nice when there are lots of adults around to help watch the kids. cythe 6am flights are the woooooorst. Sorry. I also suggest keeping E in PJs and just changing her into normal clothes later.

bootsorhearts1 I’m sorry for the baby being up, and your work travel. I have to be gone for about a week in Jan, and I am totally dreading it. It will be my first time away from LO, and I hate hate hate pumping. Sigh.

DD1 might have a bladder infection and DD2 is being her usual grumpy self... I suspect it’s teething since she isn’t showing signs of being sick. I’m on my days off and DH doesn’t have to go back to work until the 2nd. So we will be going to the walk in today and maybe do some grocery shopping.

My younger brother flew in last night from Texas. DD1 is obsessed with him. He is like a giant kid,, albeit a 6’5” thirty yr old kid 😂. We see him 2-3x a year and I try to time out trips home with his visits so the girls can get to know him. He and DD1 have been playing ice cream shop in the basement for over this morning with no signs of slowing down.
Naps, food, and play are on the agenda today.

curmudgeon I tend to error on the side of caution and avoid sick people as much as I can. DD2 being so sick, so often her first year of life might factor into this. If you’re comfortable testing it out first then I say go with that option. bootsorhearts1 I hope baby gets better soon! A sick baby + bored older sibling will make for a loooong break. August Blooms I hope the kiddos recover and the walk is relaxing

I am holed up in the nursing mom’s room at church with a sleeping DS in the wrap and coffee in my mug. Service should be starting on livestream momentarily.
Last night DH and I discussed the timing for #3! We have a family trip to the Bahamas in feb 2020 planned and I don’t want to do a trip that hot/far more than 30ish weeks along and can’t have a baby too close to when we leave because we need time to get a passport etc. So either we aim for a nov/dec 2019 baby or a may/June 2020 baby. We are leaning to the spring option because otherwise we basically need to be ttc now and I don’t know if we’re quite there at the moment. Also it took us a year and two losses to get DS compared to getting ku with DD on the second cycle ttc and the first one with good timing so wtf knows

cythe hope you’re n your way to your destination and it’s uneventful and 6am flight is rough with or without baby to begin with. August Blooms yes so very happy to be home. Hope dd1 will be ok. curmudgeon bless your aunt and uncles heart for still wanting to host even when feeling poorly. Good thinking regards to checking out situation first. Taitai bummer about the AQI sounds like all had a great Christmas vacation. bootsorhearts1 hope baby girl feels better and I find hubs more attractive with baby 😅

Things that suck:
- Getting up at 2:45 am - Getting a 1 year old up at 3 am - When your one year old doesn't sleep in cars - When your plane sits on the tarmac for a half hour waiting to take off while your 1 year old who has been awake since 3 am struggles with life - When you have 1 connection and the airport manages to not put your luggage on the plane - When your luggage will not arrive until 9 PM to a town you wont even be in and so you have to wear your travel clothes to your grandmothers funeral
So yeah.

We just finished unpacking and putting away all the laundry this am. We opened Christmas presents yesterday am and lil fella last loved ripping through the gift wraps. I also went to the grocers yesterday for much needed food and picked up a hunk of prime rib at a great price so I guess we’re having that for NYs tomorrow. 😬 I couldn’t figure out what sides plus DS decided he needed to go poop so I told him to hold it till we got home. Anyways hubs is out now picking up stuff for potato gratin as we just had mashed taters for Thanksgiving and last week at ILs. I’ll just have to figure out a veg side dish with whatever I got yesterday.

cythe OMG I’m so sorry about your luggage! I hate transits and will pay extra for direct flights to avoid that situation. FWIW lil fella refuses to sleep/nap in cars but thankfully because of missed naps, he slept during our flights and I wAs a human binky the entire 2+hr flight and I hear you about sitting on the tarmac. It gets hot and stuffy when they do that. Glad to hear you’re safe and a time your destination.

When she did finally sleep it was because I nursed her on take off and she passed out using me as a paci. My aunt is trying to find someone who is coming from the city to the small town where the funeral is so maybe I wont have to buy new shit. Sigh

cythe well you survived! And there were no poop blow outs! (Or were there?) 😆 hopefully the return trip is easier on you guys. doodlemommy omg are people talking about #3? Is that a thing now? I’m simultaneously excited and horrified for you. I think we’re squarely in the land of two is enough given I am pretty much out of eggs and maternity leave here sucks donkey balls. We did get milk stork at work this year though so there’s that.

I told him to think about it, we can always try for a couple months and if it doesn’t happen in the window needed for before our trip then take a break for a couple months before trying again to aim for a due date after our trip. We’ll see what he thinks of that lol. I have always wanted 3 and he has slowly come around 😛 Being in Canada maternity leave is great and we have family that babysits for free when I work (part time) so daycare expenses are thankfully not a consideration either.

I just finished taking down Christmas and I’m going to spend the evening sorting through baby clothes for my sister while DH watches the colts game. My sister is having her first baby, a girl, at the end of April. She has been bugging me for clothes since they found they were having a girl a few weeks ago. I just needed the time to sort through everything because some of the stuff (swaddles etc) got put away with DS’s clothes so it’s a bit of a project. My goal is to get her the newborn-6 month stuff so she can stop bugging me for a while 🤪

Well, my luggage was supposed to be dropped off to me last night but the airport delivery called at 10:45 (!) to say because of the freezing rain, I'd get it tomorrow.
So since the baby woke up at 5:15 (local time, 6:15 her time) we are off to the grocery store for baby pouches and a pack of diapers because she has 1 left. Then its off to raid my aunts clothes for something to wear. FX I dont look like a child playing dress up in her mom's closet.
