We did nothing for NYs except I made a nice rib roast meal on NYE and Yesterday I made potstickers 🥟 and shumai and a special dish celebrating winter solstice- it’s really on the 21st but we weren’t home. DS helped a little rolling the dough balls😄. It snowed and the wind was howling and we were glad to be cosy and warm. We had a good break but also glad to be back to normal. Got mit st of the Christmas decor down yesterday. I still need to box up my bronze tree, juniper garlands and bottle brush forest 🤣 I might leave the forest up on the mantle for a bit yet and the bird branch since both boys love them plus It’s nice to have a little bit of the “outdoors” inside. So what did everyone and kiddos get which they love or hate? My parents got lil fella the FP piggy bank and it’s a total hit! Also the $4 2nd best train Santa got DS is his most fav 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Oh yeah I forgot! Lil fella took 1 STEP on Christmas Day! And I missed it but MIL saw it and was shouting 😂 she was so xcited and it was possibly the best gift for her.

CoachTsWife I’m so sorry about your H - this hole process would be hard on any family, and it sucjs so much that it had to happen over the holidays! I hope his withdrawal symptoms go away soon, and that this is a distant memory before you know if. @diskymonkey Those sound like great presents, especially Your DS2 taking his first step! The food you made also sounds amazing. I love shrimp shumai so much. @bootsorhearts That milk stork program sounds like a great idea/benefit for working moms! Agree with you, however, that more vacation time and more paid maternity leave would be more helpful. cythe Hope you have your stuff by now!

It’s a new year, and I’m back to work. As much as I miss being with the kids all day, I am also glad to be back in the office and taking care of a lot of year-end stuff. I’ve been really productive, and I feel ready to take on a new year!
DS1 has had soccer camp this week, which is keeping him entertained before school starts up again early next week.
DS2 is now on 1 nap a day. The nap part is going well (12-2), but he is a bit more restless at night. I’m hoping he will adjust and he will be sleeping longer by the end of this week 🤞🤞

We are headed home from my parents later today. I’ll time it with the afternoon nap so the goal this morning is to wear them out so they’ll sleep most of the 3.5hr drive. Looking forward to our own house and routine but not the laundry/groceries/cleaning part that goes with it. School starts back up on Monday so we have a few more days to enjoy our winter vacation, even if it’s just at home with jammies and toys.

DS is a teething mess, he feels warm but I haven’t actually taken his temp. He has been wanting to comfort nurse on and off all morning. And keeps sticking a finger in his mouth and crying. He was lying beside me crying and signing more, it was so sad because I had no idea what he wanted more of. I ended up giving him a dose of Motrin and that seemed to make him happy, he is playing with his go go smart wheels saying whee whee at the moment. I just need to pick up my grocery order this morning and do diaper laundry today, so thankfully it’s an easy day. Oh, and I see my private client tonight but at 7:15 so both my kids are in bed by then

I had to take a sick day, I caught whatever DH had the other day. I’m spending the day binge watching some shows. CoachTsWife I hope you guys can catch a break. That sounds terrible. cythe Fx for a smooth trip home. duskymonkey So far the hits are the Owelette mask DD1 got, puzzles and for DD2 the cash register and Squigz even though she doesn’t really know how to use them. She just likes taking them out of the container and putting them back.

duskymonkey my kids were up later than their normal 7pm bedtime but definitely not to ball drop/midnight. DH and I didn’t even stay up that late lol Christmas present hits: DS LOVES his go go smart wheels cars and track. The definite winner DD also loves the go go smart wheels and some Polly pockets, and the lite brite.

Good news, we landed in NY without issue. If I had to complain about something it would be that E decided she dont need no travel nap, so shes awake since 7 am (its 3 now) and just fell asleep during the car ride home.
All things considering she did a great job on the flights and flying delta is the tits. Got our bags, got some lunch and are now about an hour from home.

3.5 drive home was a success!
I caught a cold while up at my parents. Everything from my neck down feels like I got hit by a truck. I’d be concerned about the flu except we’ve been “rock climbing” at my mom’s school gym the last three days and I’m pretty sure the lower body stuff is mostly me using muscles that have gone unused in years 😬😂 hopefully the sore throat and stuffy nose goes away soon. Holiday colds are the worst 😝

He cut his first molar last week so it’s definitely a possibility. Nothing looks imminent/nothing obviously swollen that I can see but he shows all the signs of it being uncomfortable

Turns out I may have the flu. I’m trying to get into the employee health clinic this morning but feel like I got hit by a train. High fever, sore all over, nausea.... I am the only one in my house who has it and I’m trying to quarantine myself but H has to coach tonight so I’ll be parenting sick. All the Daniel Tiger you want kiddos! I don’t even feel bad about it.

Negative for flu and strep - which surprised everyone because I can literally check every box on the flu symptom checklist. So I’ve been alternating between the sofa and recliner. H had a basketball game this afternoon/evening so Netflix took over parenting when I got sick of Daniel Tiger.
The house resembles a tornado and I don’t really care but holy cow can a toddler and baby make a mess when given free reign for the better part of a day! 🌪

We had our first babysitter today and it went well! She let the dogs out, Fed the baby, and had him sound asleep when we got back. I told her we’d use her for a date night soon and have her watch both kids.
She charges $10/hr which H and I both thought was low? I gave her $12/hr today so she would like us and come back. 🤷🏻♀️😬

I hope you are feeling better soon danvers! DH is doing better. He is spending more time with us and slowly doing more things on his own. So much progress. I got sick Thursday though and everything pretty much came apart at the seams. Thank goodness for MIL. She picked up the boys from daycare, fed them, put them to bed (I brought my trash can and managed to nurse LO while trying not to puke), went home to shower and get clothes for work, then came back and stayed the night. LO had a rough night so I'm very glad she was here. We had our last family Christmas get together today and we actually went - the only one we made it to this year. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get the Christmas decorations put away so that next time FIL is here, he can help me get the tree put away and living room furniture put back to normal.

It’s the weekend- we’re not doing much of anything today, because the air quality is horrible (160+). Ugh - ‘it’s the season. Yesterday, the AQ and temperature were great though, so we had the kids outside a lot.
A Canadian family with 2 boys around DS1’s age just moved into our building, and it was so fun playing with them outside yesterday. The patents are really nice, and DS1 gets along splendidly with the boys. I even saw them giving each other hugs while playing. 💕❤️ They will be here for the next 4 years, so I hope this turns into a good friendship between our two families!
We are having the neighbors over this afternoon - their baby is now 1 month old and I can’t wait to hold her!!!

I hope these current issues are teething related because that would mean there is an end in sight 😬
DS hasn’t eaten a normal meal at supper time in like 2 weeks. He refuses to taste or even touch most food, even things that are normally favourites. He literally will eat fruit and veggie pouches, occasionally yogurt or cheese, and a couple of times plain bread. That is all. He normally is a good eater but it’s also frustrating because I don’t want him going to bed hungry. He does slightly better at other meals but not by much. No snacks that are ruining his appetite, I think he is tired and uncomfortable and the things he will eat are minimal effort (although he won’t eat other soft things like potatoes or noodles)
Last night he went to bed an hour late (our fault, we were at a party), but then he was up from 1-3 am!!! I ended up giving him a pouch around 2:30. Once I got him back down he still woke up at his normal 6:15 😭 So now he’s short like 3 hours of sleep, teething, and a total grump. I am so tired.

doodlemommy I could've written your post a couple weeks ago. My LO is doing a bit better now, so 🤞 you're out of the woods soon. 3 molars broke through in about a week span, and I think the 4th one will be through soon. He's still a mess at times, but he's sleeping better and eating better overall.
