Sierra’s fever finally came down. And it’s normal now and she’s acting normal. This was the weirdest onset. And she hasn’t had Motrin since this morning and it’s staying down. Thankful, but so strange!

Happy holidays everyone! I haven't been able to keep up this week. Now we are headed for a quick trip to Chicago. SUE is back at the field Museum so we'll do that Sunday but tomorrow is relaxing with just evening zoo lights planned. Then family stuff the next few days. My dad and gf fly in xmas day and don't have a return flight. I'll need wine!

So, I think I’ve told you guys that in the last year or so I e started having some major concerns about my mom and her memory. Well, last week she told me that she was seeing a therapist and asked if I would go with her to the next appointment. This is a next level, never in a million years, mind blowing request. My mom is VERY private and we do t necessarily have that type of super open relationship. Of course I said yes, and the appointment was today, but I didn’t want to talk about it yet because I had no idea what I was walking in to. So, it was with a psychiatrist and the bottom line is the word dementia was thrown around a lot. I am grateful that she trusted me, scared for what this means, and overwhelmed with the feeling of responsibility. Anyway. She has bloodwork and an mri scheduled for Monday, and this will bring us a step closer to what exactly is going on and a formal diagnosis.

Cadence only ate an orange and a single bite of a sandwich all day. She requested peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner and so far it has stayed down. She feels a bit warm, but so long as the vomiting is done I think she's doing better.

You guys. Look. I went to the shelter today to drop off an unopened container of kitty litter leftover from Pico and went in to look at the cats on a whim. Look who I found. He's ours now. I haven't seen him since I let him out of the carrier 3 hours ago, but I'm sure he'll come around.
