Hope you are all ok with me living in here today and LTing everything. H told me he already took DS with him to vote this morning so DS gets to go twice. If he learns nothing else from us he will at least know how important it is to vote. You're in good company.

So earlier I said it was amazing that there were soooo many people here BUT I'm in a very red like bright fucking red state so it might not be a good thing. I'm hopeful though damn it!

Voted this morning in CT! There was a short line, and lots of people pulling in, so I'm hopeful. I'm just going to be here all day, freaking out. PROTECT CHRIS MURPHY AT ALL COSTS

just to manage expectations a little, huge turnout could mean that people continue voting well after polls close, which will push back results. So don't necessarily expect to start seeing results roll in right at 7.

DS has off of school today for staff development day. I took him with me to vote around 8. It would have been walk right in pretty much but the two old men of course had to fuk up my voter card. It didn't go through the first time & then when they did it again, it said the ballot was already issued so they needed their supervisor (a woman of course.) They were >.< that close to telling me to fill out a provisional ballot since they couldn't get the system to cancel out the card correctly but when the lady finally took me over to her reader to try it once more from the top, she was able to do it herself & said "they were new." Yeah well. Annoying. So I think my vote counted? I was pissed though. All the old people I saw holding Republican fliers went in no problem. Nice.

I am about to go drop off my ballot after getting the kids to school. We have medical marijuana on the ballot here and I am curious how that will go. I know Mitt will win but maybe there are many hidden Dems that will narrow the gap. I love the "exercising the ol' civic duty" line. May have to use it today around here, tm Bookshelves.

PROTECT CHRIS MURPHY AT ALL COSTS Completely anecdotal but my mom this morning, "Is anyone even running against Chris Murphy? I have seen and heard nothing." So hopefully this is how everyone in CT feels about this. The limited polling I have seen (and it is very limited) has Murphy way ahead. I mean I love him. He is easily one of my top picks for future presidential candidates. If CT effs this up I may have to move.

I don't count on anything early Also that's good because N goes to bed at 7 so hopefully I won't be too behind lol.

I have a slightly on topic question. I have a friend in Pittsburgh that has two kids at home sick and her husband is out of town. She is worried about making it to vote. Does not readily have childcare to support. What resources can I point her to? I would post on nextdoor and ask a neighbor for help either babysitting or escorting me to the polls. If I saw that post, I would help.

Seeing people posting pictures of their dogs with their "I voted" stickers is giving me life today. Cute animals FTW.
Oh that reminds me, I need to see if Drunk_Austen started their shirtless dude thread...
ETA: They have not.

I went to vote at 7 this morning and there was no line for my precinct (small town broken up in to like 6 precincts). All the people running the polls must have parked in the lot though because I had to park and walk in the rain. It was worth it. I had one whole side of just judges, mostly unopposed.

Voted for Heidi this morning! I brought both my boys with and they were so well behaved! They were also very excited about stickers. I'm rooting for Heidi today. Oh god me too. I'll be deep breathing all day.

I was voter #134 this morning at 6:50. There was almost no line, which worries me. I waited for about 30 minutes in 2016 around the same time of day. Do you have early voting? (I'm going to ask this question a lot. Sorry.) No early voting here. You can vote by absentee early, but you have to have an excuse as to why you won't be able to make it to the polls on Election Day. I'm in VA.

Took both of my girls to vote today. My five year old was so excited. She helped me press the button to vote for James Smith. I've heard turnout is pretty good in SC so I'm hopeful! I have a small precinct so it's hard to tell but there was a line when it first opened. We've had absentee voting for a couple of weeks now too. My two year old refused a picture but here's my big girl. PDQ

Voting with a toddler should be a new Olympic sport! We didn't win any medals, but we did it. I'm debating whether to follow along today or just bury my head and go to bed early and see what the results are tomorrow. Each election day I have 2016 Election PTSD.
