DD1s tonsil recovery is very slow going here. My big plans to reorganize the house this week have been rearranged for snuggles and a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse marathon. I can only take so much of this.
So where is everyone at? What are we all up to this week? Are there any bdays left for O17 or have we all turned one? Any more walkers? Everyone’s baby sleeping perfectly and soundly though the night? Whatcha all got?

Also. DD1’s breath is like death warmed over. Death. I was warned before hand but 😳
DD2 is continuing her “uh oh” phase. Daycare said she is being a real stinker and saying “uh oh”, looking directly at daycare staff, and then dropping whatever’s in her hand. She can be so ornery at times!

DS2 will be one on Friday. I'm planning to spend Thursday baking for his birthday. A smash cake, cupcakes, and sugar cookies.

We had our appt with the EI coordinator today. We have ab evaluation apt set for Nov 12, so I guess we've got that long to get her up and moving!

DS2 is walking and babbling but he seems much more...babyish? than DS1 did. However he is much more advanced in testing limits. He was biting on the screen door hydraulic arm and I was telling him no, no. So he stopped, looked me in the eye while he slowly lowered his mouth back to it. Then laughed. 😒

We have a really ornery baby over here. He's definitely testing limits. I don't think DS1 was quite this ornery, but the hard times fade over time so who knows.
He's also waking up a lot. Idk why. I wish I did tho. We are tired.

CoachTsWife and curmudgeon “like” was because DD2 is waaaay more ornery than DD1. Just a look can still send DD1 into tears while DD2 seems to accept it as a personal challenge. I can’t believe at 1 how sassy or ornery they can be!

We never fully baby proofed with DS1 because he just didn’t get into things. He was never interested in cabinets or the dog bowls or electrical outlets. But this baby. Omg. He is into everything. He has managed to pull my (cold) coffee off a tall table twice now. I don’t know how he reaches it and thankfully my coffee is always cold because of distractions. He will reach his little hand behind dressers and our TV cabinet and pull out a fistful of wires. He’s attempted to climb over babygates. That’s a fun one. I hope he is not a crib climber.

Liking all the sassy baby comments- mine is just the same! Totally testing limits over here. When we tell him no, he will look us right in the eye and then slowly try to do it again. Naughty! This morning at breakfast, he kept taking his Cheerios and throwing them on the ground! He would even say “mama” first, to get my attention, so I could see him throw them. On my!

Last day at the beach. We have late checkout at 2pm, and then it’s a 2.5 - 3 hr drive back home. DS1 can swim today, so we’ve been at the pool since 830am to make up for lost time 😁. DS2 loved the pool this morning too, as did our nanny’s kids. No more puking from DS2 either 👍Sad to go home, but at least we all survived!
DH and I had an awesome date night last night. We left the kids with our nannies, pizza, and Paddington 2 on the TV - and DH and I went down to the beach for a surf and turf BBQ. Tables on the sand, mojitos, really good DJ, tasty food (grilled waygu steak and sea bass), and a fire dancing show on the beach to end the evening. Glad we stayed and rallied through the earlier challenges 😊

I could have written this except that it's the tortoise table instead of dog bowls. Literally the extent of our baby proofing was making the bottom 2 shelves of the bookcase his books with DS1. Now i have a child who is into everything all of the time. He climbs on his push walker to get to the next thing, and doesn't know the meaning of the word fear. On the plus side, he is also the happiest, most friendly, easygoing baby of all time. So pluses and minuses.

+1 to having a wild child for a #2 when DD was an easy kid. We also did not fully baby proof with her beyond moving a few breakable things and locking up chemicals/cleaning supplies. Our builder used tamper proof plugs so we didn’t even need those. We currently have all cupboards locked up with makeshift rubber band locks and DH caught DS completely off the ground hanging onto the baby gate at the top of the stairs yesterday (it’s a metal one that matches the railings and the bottom bar is a couple inches from the ground, he climbed onto that and was holding the top yelling Mama -I was downstairs). He is also king of the “uh oh” as he intentionally drops things 🙄

It feels like we are bleeding money this month. I forgot our flood insurance is due and I just dropped my car off for brakes 😬. I can’t wait for November to get here.

Every year our car insurance sneaks around and I’m very 😳 since it’s holidays and such too. This time with DD1s surgery I’m a little nervous as to how it will work out. We have an emergency fund for stuff exactly like this but still. I feel ya.

Gosh, so many ornery babies! Diaper changes might be the most challenging. DS1 never fought us, but this one....oh my. Constantly tries to sit up/stand up/turn around to reach into the diaper bin/immediately chucks anything I give him in an attempt to distract. This morning I found so many things behind the dresser where we have the changing pad - lovies, toys, diaper cream.....
LO can't wave goodbye but we taught him how to give High 5s last night.

E is constantly twisting around trying to grab things in the diaper bin. I just checked behind the dresser/changing pad and there is all sorts of stuff down there. The hose to my nose Frida, lotion tube I lost, wipes, cloths.
Thankfully she just reaches for something, once she has it shes content to play with it while I change her 😂😂

Good news is my brakes are fine. Bad news is the master cylinder needs to be replaced along with some other parts and is $1100. Nice.
I’m home with a sick baby. The doctor wrote down bronchiolitis. It sounds like a fancy word for a cold. The snot is overwhelming though and he woke up this morning with a dried bloody nose and messy sheets. Hope that was a fluke. He’s alternating happy and screaming.
One of his happy moments today. Hide and seek in brother’s closet. [

curmudgeon thumbs up for the good break report and the happy baby picture. Thumbs way down for the unexpected repair cost and the sick/unhappy baby. Rough day!

Took the girls to the local parks dept trick-or-treat event. DD2 is going in DD1s old “little pig” costume and DD1 is going as Elsa... for the second year in a row. DD2 made it all of 30 minutes before H swung by after a late b-ball practice and picked her up. She was asleep before we got home so I had to pump. DD1 had a good time despite having no appetite for candy or popcorn. She loved the hay ride and games.
She’s such an extrovert and loves being around any and all people but it can be so draining for my introverted self. Day 5 of tonsil recovery has been pretty rough so this was nice for both of us.

✅ Difficult diaper changes ✅ Extra baby proofing ✅ Opening, throwing and pulling things down ✅ General sass
Sounds like all our second borns have a lot in common.
I am currently having my first spare moment in 36 hours. 10 hour work days plus commute time plus 2 kids equals zero time to myself. In laws fly in tonight to start their 2 week visit and the postal strike has delayed the air mattress DD1 is supposed to sleep on. DD2’s birthday is on Friday and I have done exactly nothing for it since I only got my work schedule yesterday. I fly out Sunday for a week of work training and have to leave my grandmas 100th birthday party early to make it to the airport. So I have a lot going on. I’m still breastfeeding so I’m not sure if I’m going to wean or not since I’m going to be away from the baby. I’m afraid of how my boobs are going to feel.

I went to target and got E a little Halloween costume. She will be a raccoon, I got her a little tail and a headband with ears on it. We will be heading to Michaels today to get some felt to make a little bandit mask. I'm pleased that her costume will cost me a under $10 considering we are only going over to the neighbors this year the nor'easter that's coming our way on Saturday doesn't help either.

cythe the costume sounds adorable. I think we’ll need a baby Halloween thread next week to see all these cuties! August Blooms do you have a way to transport a pump even if it’s just to pump a little to relieve pressure? I developed a clog at the hospital with DD1 and I had only missed one nursing session and one pumping session 😕 I was pretty miserable even after I was able to pump in the evening.

Wassup ladies! Too much going on here and oh we’ve been sick on top of that. Luckily not me but hubs and the kids but I’m tired with little sleep. I also discovered my passport expired and I’m scrambling to get all documents in order to get it renewed. My gov. Don’t take too kindly to nationals living abroad without an active passport 😩 of course my printer inks need replacing and since we haven’t used it all too much for work I’m feeling sour about spending a bunch on new inks. They’re not cheap Bah! This is when I wished one of us worked at an office do we could utilize printers. I also got a call about a huge project proposal last Friday which the studio I was at wants to use my creds for so Fx they win the contract which means steady work for quite a while. Will need to catch up later

The baby is still sick and will probably be out the rest of the week. All of the babies in his daycare class are out. Some have RSV, which I don’t even know what the difference between that and a cold is. And I think one teacher has pneumonia. So super week over here.

danvers I may have to get a cheap one for the trip, I sold my electric a while back since I wasn’t using it. I’m used to going 13 hours without feeding during the day now but I think after 24 hours I will be very uncomfortable.

Today is my 30th birthday! My mom made delicious supper and cake and gave me a weekend away (with DH) all expenses paid at one of two choices of resort/spa! And my boss booked my plane tickets to Boston for a conference in a couple weeks, wahoo! I’m planning on bringing my pump just to keep supply up so I can keep nursing DS when I get back, I have no intention of weaning anytime soon

Back to normal over here after our mini vaycay. Our big Halloween party is in 2 days, so I’m trying to get ready for that. I think we’ve decided that LO will be a football. We have a football onesie and I’m going to put a little black face paint on his cheeks. This way he won’t get too hot in a polyester costume and break out in heat rash everywhere! DS1 will be a pilot. DH is trying to convince me to be an air hostess, but I’m like...how about DS1 is my co-pilot?
