orangehibiscus 10 diapers per day is pretty normal. My first (7 lb 5 oz) was in newborn diapers for 6 weeks or so, but my second was in 9 pounds when he was born and was only in newborn for 2 days before I got sick of the leaks. This time I've gotten a couple of small packages of NB figuring I can exchange them if needed, but I have enough for a week or so until I could get more if we end up with another smaller baby.

My first was 6 pounds even at birth, so we needed newborn diapers for weeks. She would have been swimming in size 1s. I've also heard that about 10 diapers/day is a good estimate.
I haven't bought any NB diapers yet, just a few boxes of 1s, but I'll at least have a box on hand in case this guy is small. Could always exchange if needed.

I started an Amazon list. So far, it only has an extra seat for our City Select, the converible cribs, a dual pack and play (or debating if we just pick up another regular one, we have one barely used), a twin z pillow, and the wind/rain cover for the double stroller.
Also debating if we just use our old crib and borrow another. Space is the problem. I think I'm going to draft up our house in Autocad this weekend and see where furniture will actually fit, lol.

Amazon has the Graco Extend2fit in Gotham for $92 right now, in case anyone else had their eye on it! I wanted it for our spare car and was hoping for a sale this weekend.

The E2fit is a great extra seat. Its lovely for rear facing but if you plan to forward fac before 40 pounds I wouldn't recommend it. It has an awkward recline requirement that doesn't fit well in most cars and usually isnt comfortable for the kiddos.

Everything I'd seen said it was one of the most compact front-back seats. It's not an issue for our cars though that have plenty of back seat room. E is also still rfing and close to 40lbs now, so the extended weight limit was a positive for me.

So hes forward facing and this seat doesn't work well for him. My 3.5 year old is still rearfacing in it. Hes only 28 pounds. The weight limits are totally a positive for most people. Just not the ones with super tiny kids. Haha.

Did anyone go straight to a convertible seat instead of a bucket?
I am planning on wearing kiddo, and using a stroller. I'm trying to think financially, because we'll need a bucket with 2 bases, and then 2 convertible seats. Does it make more financial sense to do the 2 convertible seats and a stroller? I'm so conflicted about this, lol.

I baby wear too but if we're out to eat I don't like to have to hold or wear him so I can have some space to myself (lol) but that's just more comfortable for me. We'll go straight to a convertible in the spare car, as we did with E and it worked fine. I didn't love bringing the stroller everywhere either though because I thought it was just extra work and bulk to have around, haha. The stroller we had wouldn't have been great for a newborn though anyways, it didn't recline super far back. When we used it we put the bucket seat in it. I will say you don't have to buy a second base for a second car, you don't have to have a base at all technically, you can install the bucket seat with the seat belt too. Just less convenient, but if there's a car LO will be riding in less often *I* would do that.

lemondrop I am also doing what pambee suggested with only one base and using the seat belt to install in DHs car. He has a small car and with two other kids in car seats a bucket seat using the base doesnt fit, but without the base does.

Part of the issue is my H and I will truly be trading off 50/50 in picking the baby up and dropping him off, so there's really no vehicle he'd be in less often. My H also has a truck, and everything we've read said it really does need the base. I guess I wouldn't need it in my car, but I don't know how comfortable I'd be with that.

I was surprised, I had to install without the base once out of necessity and then was like .... oh, that is so easy and really feels secure and NBD. Now that cars have auto locking belts it’s really simple. I’m with pambee, I haaaaaate the bucket seats but they’re worth the PITA to me. There is nothing I hate more than waking a baby that finally fell asleep in the car just to transfer to the carrier. Also our stroller is no bueno for newborns, so the bucket helps there too. Basically everything she said. Plus it’s so nice to have an automatic spot to safely put baby down in when you’re out, like at a family dinner or restaurant. Baby wearing is my jam but I also need physical breaks from the contact, especially when trying to care for myself (ie eating or peeing).

lemondrop random cookie eating thoughts... you also don’t have to pick now, as much as the urge to prepare for Baby is so real, there’s no harm in trying out the convertible only life and changing it up later if it seems worthwhile. When I was a FTM-to-be I felt like I had to pick a “side” on a lot of things (totally imaginary, just an urge to try and define myself as a new mom I think) and later would realize oh this matters to literally no one except me, if I decide to change it up so what? I had really nosy overbearing inlaws who would question EVERYTHING I did so I think I was on the defensive a lot. I might be projecting right now

But with my DD my mom watched her when I went back to work so we needed her to have a seat with her at all times and in my van. We ended up doing the convertible with a base in my car and my moms..(when my husband occasionally would grab her he would snag my moms base) then we switched to convertible when she was around 9 months. We bought one for my car and one for my moms. Now she is in school and only with my mom occasionally so there’s one in my car and my husbands and my mom will grab a seat when she gets her. Eventually we will buy her one as well. So financially I’m not sure that was the best move because we bought britax for everything which is pricey BUT it helped on the switching things back and forth. I mentioned her age because I live in the land of snow then realized that might not apply to you. But we went with the bucket so I could carry her in and out in that when it was cold... then switched to a convertible in the middle of winter🤦♀️ Lol and looking back I think either way was fine. I enjoyed the bucket for going out to eat but I wasn’t really a stroller person I wore her in stores and outings. I rambled. But there’s my life history in car seats 😂😂

I preferred the infant seat with my DD who was also born in March. It's still cold in my area then, and I preferred to just grab the infant seat and blanket to run into the store. Planning the same this time with the twins.
I will say, we made it with one base only in my car until I saw a friend of a friend selling an extra base second hand. I do 99% of daycare pick up and probably 80% of drop offs though.
The stroller I went with for DD let me attach the infant seat to it, then it converted to a regular stroller when she was able to use it normally. It was under $100 normally, and I think I got it for $70 that year on black Friday.

I'm looking at prices and sticker shock is getting to me. We might go with the bucket seat anyway because evidently babies in my H's family like to come super friggen early (H's cousin's baby was just born at 35 weeks) so if he happens to be tiny and the convertible doesn't fit snug enough, I don't want H to have to race out and get a seat while we're still at the hospital.

It's definitely still borderline chilly in mid-late April, but if he happens to come on time, cold shouldn't really be a factor. But then I'm all, "if I wear him all the time especially as we head into summer, we're both going to be hot, sweaty messes". So who the hell knows, lol.

I got 2 infant bucket seats on Black Friday - Evenflo Lite Max 35s? They were on our list as narrower than most (under 18 inches wide) and rear facing 4 to 35 pounds. I hope they fit in our car- if not, it was free returns. I got them for $79.99 each on Amazon. They are supposed to be delivered today, along with a dollhouse for DD.
We are going to register for a double stroller frame. Even if we only use it while the twins are little, I think I prefer being able to snap car seats in and out in case they fall asleep.
I want to get an extra seat for our City Select gor when they are bigger, and was shocked at the price. I just checked and it's on sale for $127 today instead of $170 so I think I'm going to buy. My poor wallet.
(I did some serious wallet damage over the weekend, but DD is done for Christmas.) I just want to get something fun for my H, like a board game or...? Otherwise he's getting new work pants, shirts, jeans, and boxers. Oh and 2 sawhorses for his bday.
Nieces are done, still need something for my nephew, then I think I really am totally done. Early this year for me.
Sorry for the rambling, lol.

Eames I’m guessing with twins coming and especially with having an older kid in the mix, any item that helps serve as a pair of hands is a good buy, even if it only meets a need for a few months your sanity is critical and you can probably sell most things 2nd hand to get a lot of your costs back. I’m also pretty much done my Christmas shopping, just waiting for it all to arrive in the mail (and the postal workers are on strike so ... hopefully it gets here before Christmas?). I have stockings left but I mostly do consumables aka chocolate in those. I ought to get the dog a special chewy too I suppose.

Ok STM please give me recommendations on video monitors. We had a cheapo monitor for DD that I hated and I want a nice, but affordable video monitor with decent signal connection We used a Leneva with E, it was a middle range option at the time and worked well enough. We actually still use it because we haven't set up the new ones yet, so it still works 3.5 years later. It just doesn't have any extra features besides being able to talk to her through the parent monitor. I bought these to use when Henry gets here, because I still wanted a camera in E's room to be able to keep an eye on her. This time I specifically looked for one that would pan/tilt being controlled from the parent monitor, because the kids rooms are awkwardly shaped and once they're out of the crib you can't see them. I also loved that ours didn't keep the screen on continuously, it only turns on when sound is detected. This one will do both of those things, and I can even view both rooms on a split screen if I want instead of switching between rooms/screens. I haven't set this one up yet but it has good reviews.
