I need to figure out winter clothes for M and I don't want to pay a fortune. My problem is she'll only wear leggings with a dress or possibly a tunic.

I overslept this morning. I turned off my alarm after 2 snoozes and then accidentally slept for an extra 45 minutes. Luckily, the office manager is coming in late today and really no one notices if I'm late or here at all, so whatever.

I'm here pretending to care about my work. This is me most days...until I get so behind that I realize my slacking is truly effecting my work and people may notice, then that kicks me into over drive and I stress.

Morning!
As the meme I saw said, "Waiting for a hurricane is like being stalked by a turtle." Accurate.
DH will be finished with work today but it's undecided whether he will be needed this weekend. If not, we're heading to FL, so I'm just trying to get all the laundry and housework done so we can start packing as soon as he gives me the go-ahead.
School is out and the kids are...not delightful, and of course it's a gorgeous day outside.

Morning from the office!! Colin is back to school today and was bored enough yesterday that he's agreed to go to daycare next Wednesday when school is closed again. And it turns out his best friend A (who goes to a different school) will be there too. I don't even care about the money, I'm so excited for them to have the day together, I've missed her face.
And for a complete 180, it's crazy to me that it's been 17 years since 9/11. I'm feeling a bit somber but I don't know if it's time or what, but it doesn't feel as huge as it used to. I'm probably not expressing myself well at all. I remember feeling like life was forever changed, but I felt that way again after Sandy Hook and more recently after Trump got elected. It's like what used to feel like truly crazy shit is almost normal now. It makes me feel so sad that this is what my boys are growing up in.

I swear, I'm a great employee. LOL

I was thinking about 9/11 this morning too joelies. It seems like yesterday, and so long ago, simultaneously. Most kids in school now weren't even born when it happened and it is just a blurb in their history books (like Pearl Harbor, the JFK assassination, etc. to us) I was at my locker when a kid came in and said a plane had hit the WTC. In my next class, we turned on the TV and started watching. One of my classmate's fathers worked for John McCain and was in the Pentagon that morning; he was outside in the parking lot as the plane crashed into the building. DH was signing his commitment papers that morning for his Navy officer appointment. Sadly we've lost friends and acquaintances to the war on terror in the time since. I don't think it will ever truly be over. I hope our children will never have a moment like that but the odds are probably not in their favor.

Hi! I’m currently pumping. I’m tying to care about work but I still don’t. I did a ton yesterday and I didn’t care about the actual work just making sure my coworkers weren’t overwhelmed. I feel like a bad employee.

I really liked this one, too. It's light weight though and she has plenty of fleeces we could use. IDK. I want both of them!

Morning.
I stayed home with M2 again today. I probably could have chanced taking him to daycare, but he didn’t sleep well. I gave him Tylenol around 6am and he has been pretty clingy this morning, so I may have been getting that call to pick him up at some point today if I did bring him in.

tgrimes I love that second jacket. Where is it from and does it come in baby sizes? I can’t believe it’s been 17 years either. But I agree with the sentiments of joelies and flamingo, its like that was the most horrible thing imaginable, but horrible awful things seem to be becoming the norm now. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it makes my heart heavy. On a lighter note, Landon asked me this morning if I’d been born yet when 9/11 happened, so he’s my favorite for the day. Nothing new here. I’m going to hit the gym and the Trader Joe’s. Dh has a work happy hour tonight so I’ll probably feed the kids Mac and cheese and I’ll have cheese, crackers and wine for dinner.

tgrimes if I had to pick one, I think I'd pick the first one. 9/11 is a tough day here as well. Being so close to the city, everyone knew people either in the buildings or who should have been in the buildings. I am extremely lucky in that I did not lose anyone close to me. I remember it like it was yesterday, and at the same time it seems like ages ago. I lived on the 2nd floor of a 2 family house and was on my way to work. My downstairs neighbor often had the door open and called me in to ask if I had heard anything. I hadn't had the TV or radio on so I had no idea what she was talking about. I watched the news for a few minutes at her house (at that point the first plane had just hit and no one knew what was happening) and left for work. As I was driving to work the second plane hit. I got to work not knowing what was up. One of our employees was heading into the city and I couldn't get a hold of him (I finally did and he was fine). We had a few more who were stuck there but not too close to the Towers so I was able to get them hotel rooms since they couldn't get out of the city. But I still didn't understand the gravity. Then my boss, who NEVER closes work, told me to send everyone home. That's when it hit me how serious it was. Oh and it is also my dad's birthday. I went to my parents house to "celebrate" and we all just sat in front of the TV trying to understand what had happened. 17 years later and I can still remember each moment of that day so clearly.

I'm also perusing H&M. Why does everything have to be so cute? I feel like I need to win the lottery to make these purchases.

Mental health day is going ok. I took a long nap and now I’m watching tv. The cleaning lady comes soon and Dh is working at a coffee shop so we are going to meet for lunch.
Two of our retreat speakers can’t make it due to the hurricane but my boss respects that I am off and cancelled their reservations for me and is working on an alternative so that’s nice.

I always watch documentaries and cry on 9/11. I was a sophomore in high school. I definitely did not grasp the magnitude until I got home. I didn't even know what The World Trade Center's were. It's still unbelievable. I am hopefully taking Gunner to get his haircut after preschool. I have a barber that I'm going to try that my neighbor recommended. I'm nervous about it but she say's he is amazing. So we'll see. I couldn't find a phone number that works so I'm going to try a walk in appointment. So we'll see if it actually happens. He's been asking for a few weeks for a haircut. klong11 I LOVE the blue kitty braces!

Wow... 17 years since 9/11. The specific memories make it feel like it was yesterday; watching the news, working at the airport and the sheer panic in everyone, the planes just sitting anywhere they could land, it was so eerie. In other ways it feels distant because it's getting to the point where it's just life now, as joelies said, it's the new normal and coming into adulthood when this happened is a lot to take in. Who knew that 17 years later I'd be a soldiers wife who's walked the front lines in two tours to Afghanistan, losing countless friends and comrades right next to him, and those moments having an affect on my day to day life in the form of mental illness. I have no doubt that every single person that I know has grown from that fateful day, it has shaped the way we think, act and make decisions but I hope that most of all it changes the way we love, that we love harder than we may have on 9/10. Love you gals, thank you for being in my life.
