Still catching up, but Absolutely beautiful Vino. This morning I was in my car when they started talking about 9/11 and it startled me. I hadn't even looked at the date yet and as September started 9/11 didn't cross my mind for the first time in 17 years. This made me so so sad. I never want to get to the point where 9/11 doesn't have a huge impact on my life. I've been in a funk ever since thinking about that day, those we lost, the heroes, the survivors. I really can't believe it's been 17 years. I still picture sitting in my public speaking class Jr year of high school and that announcement coming. The silence in the halls following that period. Everyone in shock. 17 years later and we are still in a war. I feel like that was the turning point for me where the world just started looking sad, scary and so so unfair.

trtlcrzy, I’m feeling good. 39 weeks today... I will be surprised if he comes by his due date though. I will definitely post a baby day thread when he does decide to show up.

sands42, I understand feeling like it’s something he shouldn’t be acting out over at this age. N does the same thing though, just know you aren’t alone. Was he tired or hungry when you went? I find that makes N 10x worse. There are some things we can’t control and I truly believe will only get better as they do it more/get used to the experience.

dapostrophe how was Evie's intake appointment yesterday? It was very helpful and informative, thank you for asking. She definitely has markers for ADHD, but also seems to be exhibiting symptoms of SPD. I guess the two often go hand in hand (same with autism and SPD, etc.) My only experience with kids with SPD has always been the aversion type, but apparently Evie is sensory seeking. She purposely crashes into things, plays rough, talks loudly, and is constantly touching people and getting inside their personal space (this last one was my biggest clue). She also has some oral fixation. When the doc asked what foods she likes and is she a picky eater (yes, my only one), she remarked that it's not typical for 4 y/o to prefer to eat salad. Apparently, it's a texture/crunching thing. Since her behavior and needs are different than my son's, I have a lot to learn. I ordered her a wiggle seat, reserved a few books at the library on SPD and am looking into OT. Formal next steps will be Connors testing at the school and at home to figure if she will need accommodations for Kindergarten.

There is a 9/11 service and memorial in the town i currently live in. I think 18 people from this town died.
I feel like 9/11 is inextricably linked to my career as a teacher. I was student teaching the year it happened so i processed it together with my students as their educator. So my first year with my own history class we were dealing with the aftermath and the one year anniversary.
As time has gone on, I’ve gotten to the point where my students don’t remember. I remember crying during a moment of silence a few years ago in front of my class as it dawned on me they don’t remember and it was my duty to teach them.

After dropping C at school I was at Trader Joe's at 8am with the baby and L (who was a hot mess in pjs, rain boots, messy hair with something blue and sticky in it, up since 5am), stocking up on wine...and I DROP 2 bottles. They shatter everywhere. Hot mess mom with her hot mess kids is just trying to get some alchohol while pretending she's a put together mom...

His WBC counts have gone down, so no shot for him today. I’m a bit relieved because I wasn’t feeling confident after leaving the hospital yesterday and now I’m a little more at ease.

Do you have a name yet that you're sharing? His name is Connor (as N quickly commented is catboy from PJ Masks 🤦🏼♀️) We haven’t decided on a middle name yet. We are between David or Philip... but it’s up to DH since I chose N’s middle name.

wineallthetime Oh no! Poor thing, I probably would have had to come home and have a glass afterwards to calm down! cheeksmum Love the first name and both middle options! Great news lahdeedah It's hard when they can't give you anything conclusive, so I'm glad his numbers are moving in the right direction. sands42 meant to comment earlier, but hugs. Days like that are rough.

Sorry for the rough morning wineallthetime. My step dad was out of town for work one time and went to the liquor store for Makers Mark. He grabbed a big bottle, paid for it, went outside and slipped and fell on the snow/ice. He laid in his broken bottle of whiskey for a bit, thinking about eating the now brown snow, picked himself up, and went in for a new bottle. He said the cashier gave him the funniest look. You are not alone, my friend.

Omg to this neighbor girl. She just showed up, with two other neighbor kids, who I've also never met. She asked if evie could play, i said yes, give us a couple minutes, and asked where they would be. She said in the back. I said 'back where?' She said with the playset, referring to our backyard. Um, no, you will not be in my backyard without me. I told her the gates are locked so she cant get in. I told her we would come out when we are ready, but i was cleaning up dinner.
I just looked outside and shes sitting in the driveway across the street from us, staring at our house.
Is this my future? Because fuck me.
And evie said she doesnt want to play, shes tired from no nap and playing at the park, plus school.

So tonight was my big PTO debut as head class parent. I had everything ready and had to race home from hockey, hand the kids off to my awesome sitter who drove home from college to watch them, and get there. As I was grabbing my stuff, my 8 year old started to scream she didn’t feel well which means she’s going to throw up. I run her into the bathroom and as I lift the toilet seat, she leans over to puke and I knock her in the nose with the seat and give her a bloody nose. Then I got to clean blood and puke. Paid the sitter and told her to get out before she gets sick and texted my co-chair to come pick up all the stuff I was suppose to bring. Now I’m going to work on bedtime then hope there is some tequila in my house.

Omg kim22 I’m cringing and laughing. That was probably a great dose of birth control for your sitter 😂 I hope your poor girl feels better. Godspeed, and hope you find some tequila.

wineallthetime That’s my worst nightmare. Did they make you pay for the ones you broke? Did anyone help you? I was buying wine and they gave me a box to put it all in. (Don’t judge the #of bottles I bought to need a box.). I lifted it from the counter to my cart and the bottom of the box broke and the bottles went everywhere. By some grace of god, none of them broke. I was still horrified though.

Dance class was....awkward. The other moms basically talk around me. I'm surprised they didn't ask me to change seats with them. I'm taking a book from now on.

FX no one else gets the bug kim22 !!! I'm so sorry!!! The worst! Get some red wine if you don't have it... wineallthetime This is why we drink lol..... sh*t like this! I am pretty surprised this has never happened to me... don't sweat it! cheeksmum I had just picked him up from preschool.... he had a snack on the way. He just gets this type of way quite a bit... not listening etc. I'm not sure if I've babied him too much or what? My older daughter NEVER behaved like this so I'm not even sure what to do! I think the big contrast between him and my daughter has me worried.

wedding I don't know where the other 2 kids had gone, I didn't see them. When i looked outside again, she was playing by the fire hydrant, by herself, right next to the street. Like where the fuck are her parents? But don't worry, she came back to see if evie could play yet. I told her we were going for a walk and asked if she wanted to come with us. She said yes and I told her we would meet at her house. When we got there, she wasn't home and her dad didn't know where she was, go figure.

For the moment, everyone is asleep. I missed some fireworks at the PTO meeting (aimed at my committee). People are nuts. Good thing my kid isn’t going to school tomorrow anyway.

WTH to that guy, mwhip. Taking free range Parenting a bit too far, maybe. Interesting information, dapostrophe. Glad you found it helpful. X is sensory seeking with some input and defensive/avoids others. It definitely seems paradoxical. LMK how she likes the wiggle seat, I've been thinking about getting one. Does she play with kinetic sand? The boys love it.

cagoldi Kind of a cross b/n kinetic sand and play-doh, mine love something called "Mad Matter". It never dries out, which is nice, and cleans up easily (i.e., doesn't get ground into your carpet.) mwhip That is bizarre...after 3 years of not knowing these people and now the kid is ready to move in! Makes you wonder what the parents are doing.
