I just finished reading the Wayward Pines trilogy. I haven't looked to see if there will be more books but I hope there is with the ending the way it was... I watched the show, but never realized it was based on a book series!

Currently reading The Matchmaker by Elin Hilderbrand. Enjoyed Here's to Us and have another of hers on hold at the library so I guess she's my current kick. Also part way through Barefoot Summer by Carolyn Brown on the kindle but unlike my other kindle books it won't let me read it from my laptop - I sometimes sneak read when things are slow at work via Amazon. For whatever reason I found myself a little irritated with Truly, Madly, Guilty and The Things We Wish were True. Neither were horrible but I think I got a little annoyed at the first and the one story line in the second creeped me out. Let me know how you like The Matchmaker I read this one recently

I am new here but love reading (obviously!) so I hope you don't mind if I join.
What are you currently reading? I am in between books but am hoping to start The Handmaid's Tale next.
Favourite book you've read lately? I recently read The Kind Worth Killing and I enjoyed it. It kept me on my toes the whole time.
What's a book you dislike? I will never understand what was so special about Water for Elephants. Everyone I know ranted and raved about it but I thought it was incredibly boring.

I'm going to jump in.
What are you currently reading? How to Not Hate Your Husband After Having Kids. OK so far, nothing amazing. Is a selection for my book club.
Favourite book you've read lately? Tell the Wolves I'm Home
What's a book you dislike? So many people I know rave about The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, but I cannot get into that book.

I'm also new here but love book talk.
I am debating which to start for the weekend: Miss You by Kate Eberlin or The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan. I started the Bookshop one and just loved the intro where the author describes all the places you read a book and how they can be great/challenging/comforting, so it seems like that one may be a good cozy read for the weekend.
Favorite books lately: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and Close Enough to Touch by Colleen Oakley. Different types of reads, but strong characters. Highly recommended.
Not such a fan of the 20+ book series, usually mystery. They all get boring after a while.

Currently reading- Catastrophic Happiness by Catherine Newman. It has moments that make me laugh out loud! My husband got it for me for Mothers Day which was sweet.
Recent- I sped through The Handmaids Tale so I could binge on the show. It was a great book but I think I like the show even better. SO well done.
I read The Woman in Cabin 10 and did not get the hype. The protagonist (can't remember her name) was annoying. I also attempted Little Women last year and it was so. boring. I tried so hard bc it's such a classic but woof!

There are two books I have thought the movie was just as good if not better: Water for Elephants and The Devil Wears Prada

Maybe she'll grow on me by the end.

The main character is also timid etc but there is a lot more development around her beyond just "oh she likes books so she is quiet".

I finished Eleanor and Park. It was good and a quick read, but the hype of it made me think it was going to be more We're in a fight. I love, love, love Eleanor and Park. Pretty much anything by Rainbow Rowell is fantastic IMO. I loved Carry On. Landline is probably my least favorite, but I did like it.

Currently reading: Midnight Crossroad by Charlaine Harris. I was into the Sookie Stackhouse series at first, but then I got bored. This one is kinda meh, but it was on my wish list and available when I finished my last book.
Recent Favorites: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. I also really liked Station Eleven. To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han was another that I really enjoyed.
My most hated book ever was Mercy by Jodi Picoult. It put me off Picoult forever.

I'm currently hate reading In a Dark, Dark Wood. I don't have high hopes that it will get better but who knows.
One of my recent favourites that was sitting on my shelf for years before I got around to it is The Husbands Secret. I love the complicated women Liane Moriarty writes about. I feel like I recognize them.

I'm currently reading Weekends at Bellevue: Nine Years on the Night Shift in the Psych ER and it is absolutely angering. The book isn't a compilation of stories/cases, but rather seems to be the writer detailing her life and why she's not terrible, but she is. The terms she uses and her behaviors described when she treated patients are disrespectful and unproffesional.
I hate abandoning books, but I'm only 25% done.

It's funny because the Bookshop book came about because it was recommended for those who like the Broken Wheel book (which I loved). I also have read AJ Fikry and loved it. You guys might be better at recommendations than my library website's recommended reads!

Currently trying to read Emma by Jane Austen. It's one of those books that I keep picking up every few months then pick up something else more interesting and it's taking forever to get through.
I just finished Since We Fell by Dennis Lehane yesterday and loved it! It was slow to start but was real captivating the last half of the book. I couldn't put it down.
I really strongly disliked Wild.

I'm listening to The Nightingale. I hope I can get through it before it's due back. It's like 17 hours. 😬 One I read recently that I really enjoyed was The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. I love him and that book was fun in a Neil Gaiman kind of way. A book I hated that everyone seemed to love is Gone Girl. God I hated that book. I was irritated with it the entire time and only finished it because everyone kept saying it was so good. Still hated it to the end. Actually the end made it even worse. HATED that book within the first fifty pages, but people convinced me to keep going. It was like they didn't even know me. Also, you're totally missing out with Outlander. #justsayin I was just about to tag you when I saw some of Outlander comments 😂 I will admit that some of them do take a while to get through (I think it took me a good part of last year to get through book 5) but I've really enjoyed them so far.
