What are you currently reading? The Handmaid's Tale. I'm liking it so far, I'm not very far along, but it's really intriguing to me.
Favourite book you've read lately? I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reed. A great psychological thriller about a couple on a roadtrip
What's a book you dislike? I never got the love for "Where'd You Go Bernadette" I hated the main character and her selfishness.

Currently: nothing. There are 3-4 books on my overdrive holds where I'm in the #1 or 2 spot so I'm taking a break knowing ill be reading a bunch soon.
Recent: Why Not Me? by Mindy Making which was a much needed nice/light/funny read. Also read this month: The Good Nurse by Charles Graeber. And since it's Asian Pacific Heritage month: The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri and The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka.
I tried to read the book thief but couldn't get into it.

What are you currently reading?
Behind Closed Doors - it is not living up to my expectations, but it's a quick read.
Favourite book you've read lately?
Honestly I feel like I've had a string of bad luck with books lately. Nothing I would recommend, that's for sure.
What's a book you dislike?
I couldn't finish Fates and Furies. I wanted to love it, but...

Currently reading: Stephen King's It and I just got Orphan Train, which I hope to start soon. Recent: The Forgotten Girls by Sara Blaedel was pretty good. It was a nice quick read too. cdnfroggy, all of Margaret Atwood's works are amazing. Love her.

SweetPotato, I was actually surprised I liked Fates and Furies as much as I did (it's not my usual type of book), but I can see why it's not for everybody. kittyforman, I loved Mindy Kaling's first book, I really should check out Why Not Me. klong11, I've been meaning to get around to more Atwood, but it kept getting put on the back burner, but I really want to watch the show, so it got bumped to the top of my to-read list. Same with It, I want to read it before the remake comes out in October.

Hi, I'm new! I just finished reading the Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante. There are 4 books in the series, and I believe it's currently being adapted for TV. I am currently reading Paw and Order by Spencer Quinn. It's part of a lighthearted series told from a dog's point of view. cdnfroggy, I agree with you about "Where'd You Go Bernadette?"

lilafowler, I'm happy I'm not the only one who felt that way about Bernadette, so many people I know raved about it, and it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm listening to The Nightingale. I hope I can get through it before it's due back. It's like 17 hours. 😬
One I read recently that I really enjoyed was The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. I love him and that book was fun in a Neil Gaiman kind of way.
A book I hated that everyone seemed to love is Gone Girl. God I hated that book. I was irritated with it the entire time and only finished it because everyone kept saying it was so good. Still hated it to the end. Actually the end made it even worse.

+1 on Bernadette and Outlander book 2.
I liked the first Outlander book ok but could barely finish the second. I never tried reading anymore of them.

Also, you're totally missing out with Outlander. #justsayin

Just started The Handmaids Tale
Favorite book recently: Jodi Picoults Small Great Things

melohdy try to give the second outlander book another chance, I hated that one but honestly the subsequent books are much better! 45thparallel I loved Ready Player One! I thought it was very cleverly written.

cdnfroggy, my husband juggles about 4 books at a time, and is usually good about suggesting things I'd like, but it took everything in me to finish Bernadette. I am the odd person that didn't really like the first Outlander book, but devoured the rest of them. My mom and coworkers kept telling me to press on, and I'm glad I did. I think initially I enjoyed them mostly for the historical element (history major over here), but now I just can't quit the characters. The third book really sucked me in, so honeylemon, you may want to try one more before completely giving up!

As long as there's no more of that weird royal France stuff, I could try the third Outlander. I liked everything in Scotland. The France parts were awful.

I'm currently DYING for the next Outlander to come out. You'll never believe where they are now if only in book 2. It's mind boggling.

I'm currently reading: The Other Einstein by Heather Terrell about Albert's wife. I just started but it's good so far.
I just finished A Murder in Time by Julie McElwain and I'm waiting for the sequel to be returned to the library. I loved it.
I didn't like I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. I stopped reading halfway through.

I remember thinking years ago that Dragonfly in Amber was a little slow, but I've come to appreciate it so much more in my re-reads.

I'm stuck in the 2nd Outlander book as well. I think I'll need to re-read the first to get back into the groove of it.

I'm stuck in the 2nd Outlander book as well. I think I'll need to re-read the first to get back into the groove of it. It's very detailed and well-researched, which can make it seem slow at times. The third book is my favorite though. SO POWER THROUGH!

I'm currently trudging through a fantasy series by Mary Robinette Kowal that is supposed to be Jane Austen with magic. The series has five books, I had already read the first three and decided to reread before finishing it out. I am not like my ot nearly as much on the reread. I got to the fourth book and hoped it would pick up since I hadn't read this one yet. But no. I'm disliking this one more than the other three.

The second Outlander book has been sitting in my kindle library for awhile. I might have to power through it next. Currently I'm re-reading a favorite romance until I decide on something new.
Just finished A Man Called Ove and Big Little Lies, I enjoyed both.
I disliked Maisie Dobbs. Read it for book club a few months ago and thought the main character was very flat. It's a series so maybe that improves in subsequent books but I have no desire to find out.
