The second Outlander book has been sitting in my kindle library for awhile. I might have to power through it next. Currently I'm re-reading a favorite romance until I decide on something new. Just finished A Man Called Ove and Big Little Lies, I enjoyed both. I disliked Maisie Dobbs. Read it for book club a few months ago and thought the main character was very flat. It's a series so maybe that improves in subsequent books but I have no desire to find out. What's the romance book?

I'm listening to The Nightingale. I hope I can get through it before it's due back. It's like 17 hours. 😬 I recently learned you could up the speed if your listening on overdrive. The last 1/3 of the book I ploughed through.Bring ear buds everywhere. So good!

But seriously, the author has a series set in Alaska and I think that's a lot of the appeal for me. I'm a sucker for those house hunting shows set there.

What are you currently reading? The Shack...not sure how I feel about it, I'm about half way through. My co-worker recommended it. I just got The Handmaid's Tale from the library so I'm eager to start it.
Favourite book you've read lately? I liked Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty.
What's a book you dislike? I really didn't like the "Slammed" series by Colleen Hoover. I read all three thinking they would get better and each one was worse.

+1 on Bernadette and Outlander book 2. I liked the first Outlander book ok but could barely finish the second. I never tried reading anymore of them. The second one is hard to get through, but they get sooo much better! I became slightly obsessed. I'm in deep now and stalk her facebook page for the 'daily lines' she posts periodically which are snippets from the next book.

I've never read Outlander, but I'm Not a historical romance type, maybe that's why? I really liked Gone Girl, it started me down my "unlikeable women" book path that I really enjoyed. But I totally get why some wouldn't like it.

What are you currently reading? Reached by Ally Condie. I really like dystopian fiction so I'm making my way through the series. Favourite book you've read lately? Maybe The Giver? I feel like that series had so much promise but the author really let things go... What's a book you dislike? I'm with kittyforman on The Book Thief. Everyone told me that it changed their life and I just couldn't see it.

What are you currently reading? The Husband's Secret - giving this a try even though my secretary is an idiot and blurted out what the secret was when I mentioned I was planning on reading this book. Humpf.
Favourite book you've read lately? I already shared this in the book thread over at the politics forum, but I really liked Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing.
What's a book you dislike? I know Jonathan Franzen is amazing, but I found that Freedom really grated on me. Like, for big chunks of it I was just hate reading and despised a lot of the characters. I think it's an objectively good book in terms of writing - but just didn't do it for me. Maybe I'll try The Corrections and see if I like that better.

I'm currently reading Dead Cold by Louise Penny. I'm still not that into it. More mildly curious at this point.
My favourite one that I've read lately The Girl on the Train. I also liked The German Girl.
Disliked? I'll have to think. There are definitely a few I started and never finished but their name are escaping me.
I've got What Alive Forgot, The Light Between Océans, and All the Light We Cannot See on deck.

Currently reading: Flatwater Tuesday (I think. Just started. About a high school rowing team.) Loved recently: Just finished Not forgetting the whale, by John Ironmonger. Loved, loved, loved it so much. Original story, wonderful characters, nice read. Disliked: Girl on a train. It was such a good idea, but done so badly.

Least favorite: I've had several lately that I didn't finish but I'm not sure if they were bad or I was in a reading funk

What are you currently reading? Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. It's alright so far, but pretty creepy. Vinyl Cafe by Stuart McLean. I have a soft spot for all of Stuart McLean's book
Favourite book you've read lately The Orphan's Tale by Pam Jenoff. I really enjoy war time stories (however, I found The German Girl pretty boring) I've also been loving Liane Morairty books recently
What's a book you dislike? Could not stand The Girl Before by JP Delaney

@martini Yea I gave Stephanie Plum series longer than I should have but I eventually gave up on her ever picking Joe or Ranger. And I just couldn't with any more wishy washiness while both men waited endlessly for her. I gave up around 14.

So I managed to read 3 books this week because Airplane. All Grown Up by Jami Attenberg which was probably my fave read of the year so far, Jennifer Weiner's hungry heart (memoir.. it was good), and Originals by Adam Grant which was excellent if you're into reading business books.
Not sure where I'm going next but I think I may continue on the non fiction trend for a few more books as I'm enjoying the change. , a few months ago I started reading a nonfiction called "the accidental superpower: America and the coming global disorder" which is about geopolitics... so I think I'll do my best to finish that (it's a bit dense but fascinating).

As for the dislike question, even without the discussion here I would have said Outlander. I thought the concept and storytelling was good but I found the sexual violence way too disturbing.

What are you currently reading? The One from the Selection series, Kiera Cass I think? I like it I think
Favourite book you've read lately? the final book in the Court of Thorns and Roses series.
What's a book you dislike? I downloaded The Handmaid's tale, and I just cannot get into it... I will give it another shot later, maybe
for everyone considering continuing with Outlander, book 3 IMO is the best of the series! I devour them when a new one comes out, and I am SO EXCITED to see what the 3rd book gets re-imagined into on the Starz series.

I'm reading a Useful Woman. It's a Jane Austen era murder mystery. I'm about 1/4 of the way through and I am hooked.
I posted on the last place that I just finished listening to Dracula with DH and I loved it!
ETA forgot the last question. I tried to read the Little Paris Bookshop and had to abandon about half way through. Hated it, though I wanted to love it. Maybe one day I'll finish.

Currently reading The Matchmaker by Elin Hilderbrand. Enjoyed Here's to Us and have another of hers on hold at the library so I guess she's my current kick. Also part way through Barefoot Summer by Carolyn Brown on the kindle but unlike my other kindle books it won't let me read it from my laptop - I sometimes sneak read when things are slow at work via Amazon.
For whatever reason I found myself a little irritated with Truly, Madly, Guilty and The Things We Wish were True. Neither were horrible but I think I got a little annoyed at the first and the one story line in the second creeped me out.

I just finished reading the Wayward Pines trilogy. I haven't looked to see if there will be more books but I hope there is with the ending the way it was...
I hate to say this but I think I dislike the Game of Thrones books. I bought them all thinking I'd love them but I keep starting the first and not getting anywhere. Eventually I will probably get far enough into it and get hooked I'm guessing.
