Ugh, I have been dreading this. I went SO over the top with DS1's 1st birthday. Literally, as it was a blue and red circus theme, and also with decorations. I don't really want to do that again but I want to make sure he has a good birthday party. His bday is 11/10 so we'll probably have the party that day at my mom's house since it is bigger. We did a nacho bar for DS1 because it is so easy. I think I might do a few different soups for food. I need to start thinking about themes.
This is likely the last separate bday party the boys will have for a while. Their birthdays are 12 days apart and I just can't imagine inviting the same people to two parties moving forward. Last year for DS1's 2nd birthday we just went out to brunch with his grandparents. I actually quite liked that. We'll probably do something low key like that again for him but maybe at my mom's house and have food catered in. His is at the end of October so I should probably decide.

Add me to the chili stealing! So smart.
Not sure what theme yet, maybe based on Dr Seuss ABC book. I'm still not sure if I'll just do a family party or invite friends too or have two parties? Sigh, summer birthdays are easier because they can be outside. I have a small house 😣

We give ds2 his present on his bday though

I have already called my mom and asked to do this party at HER house.

I am actually a little jealous some of you guys can combine parties. I'd love to get it done in one fell swoop.

I’m doing a joint bday party for both kids in November (N15 & D17). I’m trying to think of ideas. Hate the thing 1 & 2. I told dh about some Mario bros things on amazon that were used for cake toppers that I almost snagged on Prime day and we’ve kind of been toying with the idea of that. DD could be princess peach and ds looks more like toadstool than Mario! 😂🤷🏼♀️ I might Pinterest ideas soon to see if I run with it.
The date is set though so my mom can fly out not for turkey day and ILs leave OOT after that so no Dec.

Ok, I think we are going to do a Lumberjack/flannel/bear theme. Chili for the main dish and then plan around it. We will have 40 people so chili will be easy and right in a nesco. ooooo chili is a great idea! Better than pizza, which we always do for partys. Maybe some tortilla chips and cheese too. I'm stealing your idea 🤣 And cornbread!! Yum!

E is 10/30, so Halloween themed will be inevitable, I think. lol I am thinking maybe just pumpkin or fall colors/leaves for a theme this year. I’m not sure. My biggest decision now is whether to have it at our house or rent a hall. Being her first bday, we’ll invite everyone, so that added up to a guest list of around 60 people. I’m sure only 30-40 will come, but that’s still a lot of people for an indoor party at our house. I wish we could guarantee decent weather so people could be outside. Dd2 is 10/26 and it's going to be all Halloween birthdays all the time until she is old enough to argue otherwise. Or at least mandatory dress up parties.

We don't actually normally throw big birthday parties. We may do a small play group thing, but for the most part it will just be us and cake.

So this is now the train I’ve been on all day. I’m struggling to find a hall that isn’t $300-400 to rent and/or that allows outside food and drink. I talked to my H and he’s adamant that we can’t fit that many people in our house, so we either have to have her party like 3-4 weeks early to hope for a bit warmer weather, or we need to rent a place. Ugh. I’m definitely not a party planner.

I was planning to do a Frozen themed party for the girls, but then I was thinking I should save that for when they're a bit older when they actually know what Frozen is and I'll just go with an easy winter wonderland theme since they're 12/15 and the house already have a Christmas vibe going on. I did already buy dresses for them in Anna and Elsa prints though so they're at least going to have to wear them for pictures. My main thing though is that I want have it at brunch time and have a hot cocoa bar! Some of my favorite inspo pics... I really like these colors And I'm thinking of a few small cakes, like tiny smash cakes for each of the girls and then two cakes. That way I don't have to just pick one design! lol Is it going to look too barbaric if one baby is tearing into a reindeer cake and the other is tearing into a polar bear? And Cocoa Bar Inspiration!

I haven’t thought much about it. I love having a theme, I generally don’t go over the top. Just decorations and a few foods to match.
DS1 first bday was John Deere themed, DD’s was twinkle twinkle little star, I don’t know what to do for N.
My go-to’s for party meals are chili or a taco bar.

ldubhawksfan, DS1 is insisting that he and DS2 are going to be Thing 1 and Thing 2 for Halloween. I've tried talking him out of it but there is no wiggle room. At least the costumes are easy.

belle0720 I love those inspiration ideas! And I wouldn't think twice about a baby destroying a polar bear or raindeer head 😂 I made ds3 a ladybug smash cake for his 1st (we call him bug) and even with the red frosting it didn't look too gruesome lol

Do you have indoor ones through your city’s Park and Rec dept? The one I reserved is $70 for the whole day.

I think I have decided that we will go to our fave brunch place, which is also the place we got married.
They have unlimited mimosas, and C will be weaned. I did all the work a year prior, so I get to celebrate too. 😂

belle0720. I saw the hot cocoa bar idea too. I would love to do that but there are only going to be 6 kids total and not a lot of adults who would drink it. I don’t think it would be worth the trouble.

I could put something out for those not driving but I think a majority would skip it. It’s a thought though.

I told him he could but we are going as 101 dalmatians. Dh and I are going to be Horace and Jasper. The boys will be puppies

Is it lame to want to do the party at the same local park and hire the same taco cart guy as DD’s 1st bday?!

thatgolfb - not too boozy! We had wine and beer and DS’s party. My former SIL toasted me on 1 year of being a mom. Definitely plan on some this time too - I want to celebrate twice over this time!
