Ellie's four months today. I can't believe it.
With all the birthday stuff this weekend, my brother's girlfriend ended up holding her most of the time so I'm taking advantage of Em being at preschool to cuddle with her.

Good morning!
Our sleep regression has improved v v slightly but it does not bode well for our vacation.
Which. We are leaving tomorrow to drive to Ontario. It will take us 4 days. Then we are at a cottage for a week and 4 days drive home.
I’m starting to think we might be insane to do this. But we are going through the States so going to Target is really keeping me going.

I stayed home with L today. He’s still sick and has had 2 of the worst sleep nights since he was a newborn. Up crying every hour or so and basically only sleeping if he’s being held. Also he rolled in the Merlin suit this morning, so it looks like we’re done with that. H is out of town for the next 4 days so the next few nights should be... fun. I might die.

Happy 4 months to Elle and happy belated to big sis cornpop! I am jealous of your clean house polson. Mine desperately needs cleaned but with a sick babe and H out of town, it’s going to stay messy this week. Hope your trip goes smoothly leatherpants! Enjoy it, and enjoy Target especially.

I just got back from dropping off DDs paperwork at school. I officially have a kindergarter. The school system here is a lot different than it is back home. School starts Aug 6th, they have full day kindergarten, and the first week of school all kindergarten students only go one day that week.

School starts Aug 6th, they have full day kindergarten, and the first week of school all kindergarten students only go one day that week. My son's school previously did three half days to start PreS, PreK, and K, which I haaaated with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns. Its such a childcare headache for working parents. The one day thing isn't convenient, either. My son has always been the kind of kid for whom gentle transitions just muddied things up. The best way for him to get used to new routine is...doing the new routine. She's going to do great! Kindergarten is such a fun time.

clementine I hope L feels better soon leatherpants that sounds like quite the vacation. I hope the kids travel well for you and you have a great time. I am having a quiet day. I did a bit a cleaning and am now just holding a sleeping baby. I am taking advantage of all the uninterrupted cuddles because the school year starts again in just a few weeks which means back to full time work.

I did similar to you polson and it's so nice to take it easy this morning. I snuggled the baby while she napped which is rare during the week since I'm usually busy. Happy belated birthday to your D1 cornpop. And happy 4 month to Em!

The baby is absolutely miserable with her teething. She needs to be held at all times and just wants me to rub her gums. She's not a fan of her teething ring.
D1 doesn't have school today so I'm hoping to get her out of the house and to the library at some point if the baby will let me put her down to get ready.

leatherpants have fun on your trip!! Also enjoy Target! I seriously love that place! I also spend way too much money there. I’m sure you are more responsible than me though 😂 clementine sorry for the sick kid! Hope he feels better soon! We just got back from the vet. My dog has a lump on her face that appeared about two months ago. We kept thinking it was a cyst and would go away on its own (and it did seem to get better before it flared up again). Well three quotes /opinions later and the consensus is that it “could be anything” and will likely cost us $1000 to remove. Ugh. I feel like every time we get remotely close to getting ahead money wise something comes up. Adulting sucks.

I remember reading somewhere that infant teething gels have recently actually been found to be unsafe for them, so we haven't use any on Lyra. I'm sure it's just a particular ingredient and the side effects are uncommon, but I'm not comfortable testing the waters after that. The fearmongering worked on me.

I heard similar with D1 and didn't feel comfortable using teething gels or tablets with her and won't with L either. I think even the FDA came out recently this year and wanted manufacturers like Orajel to stop making teething gels and warned consumers to not use them.

Can I just vent my frustration with the cost of medical expenses? My dd3s specialist appointments each cost more than the cost of my sons delivery. We go monthly. I just found out the cost of a comprehensive eye exam when you need more than the annual check up which we need quarterly. Never mind the monthly blood work and medications. Holy crap. I clearly went into the wrong profession. I guess on the plus side we will hit our deductible at the start of the year from now on...

That is yikes! 😱 The Nuby All-natural does not have benzocaine. The active ingredient is extracted from the clove plant

Oh my. Sleep sack night #1 is off to a great start. He’s just in there rolling around and half talking half fussing. And now he’s on his belly. What do I do? Do I flip him over?
ETA: he’s not consistently rolling belly to back, and his fussing escalated to sad crying so I flipped him over. And again and again. And re-inserted the pacifier many times until I gave up and am now rocking him to sleep 🤷🏼♀️

My understanding is that if they get themselves there they are fine. Yeah that’s what our pedi said, but he was not happy being on his belly. And since he’s not great a rolling belly to back I figured I’d flip him over. But I know I can’t be doing that all night long.

clementine +1 if they can get there themselves it’s fine. i know it sucks though when they roll and can’t realize that they can just sleep that way. from what i recall with dd1, the first few nights were rough, but once she figured it out she slept great. this will pass! eta: will he calm down if you rub his back instead of flipping him over?
