Hugs calendula. I had a similar experience going back to work after DD1 and it was awful. Can you ask for help with anything? I wish I had reached out and said “this is so hard. I need some one to do XYZ” but I didn’t and cried a lot. I felt like I was letting everyone down and just wanted to curl up on the couch, snuggle DD, and ignore everything else. Please figure out if you can get some thing off your plate. Can you do take out or have pizza so at least you get a break with dinner? Fuck that traffic lady. Thankfully it’s Wednesday. Wednesdays are my favorite day bc once they’re done, the rest of the week seems to fly by. It’s like you’ve made it over the hump and you can FINALLY see the finish line.

L had his 4 month check up and vaccinations. Our doctor said that rolling is not cobsidered a milestone and not to worry if he isn't. I am kind of relieved he isn't at this point because it is so hard to get him to sleep unswaddled. He always forces one hand out which doesn't seem to wake him but he refuses to settle with it out. I don't know what I will do when he starts rolling. When does everyone plan on sleep traing, if you plan to? I know L isn't ready yet but does 5 months seem reasonable? I think that is when we did with K. We're not planning on sleep training, mostly because it doesn't seem necessary atm. Lyra sleeps fairly well.
BUT! I've heard countless times from other moms that talked to their peds about sleep training that 4 months is the golden number to shoot for. Anytime after then is a good time to start. So I think once you and L are ready to start giving it a shot, go for it!

E seems to be handling this round of vax better but she already has had a bit of an upset stomach, I think. She's much pukier than usual.

I'm picking Lyra up later than usual from daycare today so I can get a sweet, sweet shower. I'm looking forward to it too much.

Now I just need to get up the nerve to unswaddle...

We had the best sleep yet last night after vaccinations yesterday. Two wake ups but I was able to get him back down after the 4:30 am wake up and he slept until 6:30. I think he is still feeling the effects though because he has been really sleepy today and seems on the verge of having a fever. I took him temp and it was fine so it might just be from the heat here.

I’m so tired. DS woke at 11 and at 3 for a feed then stirred and made noise waking me at 4 and 5 and finally up at 6. In between all that I had a real hard time getting back to sleep so I feel like a zombie now.

I just put the baby down and someone rang the doorbell. Why do people do this? You know we have babies and barky dogs! Do you want my screaming baby?

stardust84 I have let L cry for a few minutes when putting him down the past few weeks, but it hasn’t been complete sleep training. I am waiting until he can roll belly to back to go all in because he is not a huge fan of laying on his tummy so I have to help when he gets stuck. We never sleep trained DS1 so I am not looking forward to it.

i have my first eye appointment in 10 yrs today. i am super anxious, but know i need to do this. anyone else feel eye appointments are just super awkward? like you end up staring into another persons eyes. i’m pretty sure i got the nervous giggles last time and it was awkward af.

polson the past 2 nights have been better! Fewer wake ups and his cold seems to be getting better, so that helps. H comes home today, thank goodness. And he took tomorrow off, so I’m excited to be able to spend the day together tomorrow. Good luck at your eye appointment! I’m that way at the dentist. Like I don’t have control over my tongue when they’re all up in my mouth. So much awkward.

Yesterday was E's 3rd birthday. I can't believe she is already three.
We were lucky and the rain held off so we were able to go to Sesame Place. She had a blast. And got tons of playdoh for her birthday which made her so excited.
When we were at Sesame Place, I realized I had the bottles of premade formula but the new 8 oz. bottles do not fit the nipples, you're supposed to pour it into a regular bottle. So I had no real way of feeding Noelle. I had to literally pour the formula into the nipple, let her suck the nipple full out, then repeat the process for the entire 8 oz. It was painful, but she got fed.

That thread on GD is making me feel so much better about going back to work and DD2 not taking a bottle. We’ve tried but she fights it SO hard. Unfortunately I think she won’t take my frozen milk 😭😭 Buy hopefully I can pump enough over the next week to cover her for my first day back with fresh milk. She seems to *almost* tolerate that. I know it’s just going to take time. She won’t starve... right?

Thank you <3 Last week I worked late on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, so we DVRd the All Star Game and watched together on Thursday night (we promised DS). We ate hot dogs on the couch for dinner and just passed the baby around and snuggled DS. It was the best night I've had in a long time---so yes totally get what you are saying about just curling up with kid snuggles. Its a good reminder to give grace on the things that aren't totally necessary.

If you taste-test milk you’ve frozen and it has a sour or soap-like taste, that can be the reason. You can scald freshly-pumped milk to prevent that. Just a thought! I’ve gone down the rabbit hole with DS2 refusing a bottle, too.

She will get used to it I'm sure, and she will definitely not starve. If she's hungry enough, she'll eat.

She is more patient and persistent. I’m worried this might break DH.

We keep trying and he keeps refusing. Like I know everything they said is true (that it’ll be fine and he will figure it out) but I needed that reminder. Also - have you tried switching the bags you store your frozen milk in? One brand makes my milk soapy and gross but the ones I use now don’t have that effect.

We finally figured out he was too cold with the AC on in the car so we bundled him up and he finally stopped screaming at us. Also I’m pretty sure I had some blocked milk ducts or whatever. I’ve been massaging my boob in the car and today poured some hot water into a diaper to use as a hot compress. You’re welcome for all that, fellow travelers on the road.
