I'm at the dentist for myself. I asked about bringinv DD in and during the conversation she mentions that I should be flossing DDs teeth. It took everything in my power not to laugh in her face. I can barely get her teeth cleaned without her screaming "no, I do it" flossing is not even in my universe at this point. Check these out. My kids love them. And my supermarket also has them on sale for $1. www.target.com/p/plackers-flossers-fruit-smoothie-swirl-75-ct/-/A-50296290

Any tips for dealing with separation anxiety? DS is starting to melt down at daycare drop off. His teachers are usually able to distract him and face him away from the door while I leave, but the sobbing just breaks my heart. I think setting him up with an activity, and if you can sitting with him for a few minutes as a transition, is supposed to help. DD isn't bothered by our leaving if she is doing something "fun" when we give her a last hug. She had some favorite toys at daycare that we'd find for her - and I usually used her reaction in the room to gauge if I should sit with her for a minute or not. Some days she'd crawl right into a teacher's lap and I'd just leave. But if she was more clingy I would sit down and play with a toy. Right now she gets breakfast right as she comes in, so she's pretty excited and happy to eat and some days can't even be bothered to say bye to us.

I’ve watched the people at daycare put DD’s shoes back on 3 times already and she’s only been there like an hour...ugh. Why won’t she wear shoes?? She likes her sandals, but she can’t wear sandals to daycare. I wonder if they hurt her feet. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

I saw the Keens but the smallest size was a 4. I’m thinking shoe shopping will be easier once she wears a 4. It’s hard to find 3 or 3.5 in hard bottoms (I’ve found some online). They go outside to play so those soft bottom booties won’t work.

The woman at the store said that the first shoes need to be completely crushable in your hand, but still have a sole. It was $$$ but DD wore those everyday for months and they held up to crawling and general early toddler fuckery.

Naptimes and bedtimes have been awful. I can’t even get him upstairs to his room fo naps. As soon as I start carrying him upstairs he insists on getting down and then goes down the stair instead of up. When I finally carry his squirmy butt, I can’t get him to sit to read. He wants to get down and play with toys or will fuss to get out of the room. Then he freaks out when I put him in the crib and I’ve been having to give him the pacifier which he doesn’t typically need. He does fall asleep after a few minutes of complaining but he just suddenly hates the process. I really hope it is just another phase and he gets over it soon. I know he is doing it because he heard I was giving advice about sleep and napping.

Also, let them having a chewing brush. It gets the brissles into the spaces between the teeth when they fight

He's in the infant room for another 1.5 months (OMG HOW IS HE THIS BIG?). I'll be interested to see how the toddler teacher handles it, but the waving sounds like a good idea. Some days, I sit him down and he immediately crawls over to his buddy and starts playing and is 100% fine. Days like today, they both sit in the floor and cry together while we walk out. So sad. I find that any change in routine at home can cause issues at dropoff. Also, you may find that it picks up again when you change rooms. Also those kids feed off of each other. If one kid is crying at the window at dropoff then they all do it. But I know that 2 minutes after I'm gone they'll be playing and laughing. This is so true. The slightest change in the routine throws DS1 into a frenzy. That said, if it doesn’t go through cycles, if he just cries every day constantly no matter what, you may want to bring it up to a professional. DS1 screamed every day for over a year at drop off.. I’m told this is not normal

They get their breakfast at drop off which is usually enough of a distraction for DS2. DS1 is my problem child with drop off, and I still drop and run. MOTC over here

I noticed even the toddlers that are not walking are wearing shoes as well (in the toddler room). It's been too hot for them to go outside lately, so I don't know. Maybe my daycare is just strict. The toddlers can't get off their nap mats until nap time is over. I'm just lucky DD is sleeping better in the toddler room, because she rolls on her belly. I will say they have her "trained" every time she hands anyone a book to read, she plops right down on the floor.
Now if they could only help with bath time hair rinsing....

They have to stay on their mats?? DS1 would occasionally refuse to nap. They would just sit and quietly play with him so the others could sleep. Now, he’s usually the last to go lay down, so they let him color for a while while the others nap ETA- we just have to bring shoes. They’re not required to wear them unless they go outside. Most of the 18 month room are shoeless when inside because they remove them. The non-walkers won’t go outside, so they don’t need shoes And bath time has yet to get easier at 3.5 so no help there.. DS1 has longer hair so it takes a few rinses. They’re...challenging

Our daycare is definitely not strict. It says in the handbook that they need to wear shoes. Your kid naps on a mat already? That seems pretty advanced. I can’t imagine my kid sleeping uncontained. Glad to hear she’s napping well though! J hates hair rinsing too but he is starting to get a little better about it.

I swear DD took the hair rinse better as a smaller baby than she does now. I've thought seriously about getting her one of those visors for tub so I can rinse but not ruin her bath.

Yeah they make it seem like the restrictions are state regulated, like they will get a citation but I don’t know. I definitely think the mats and the little tables (no high chairs) they eat at is also so advanced. I had to really put my foot down about her not using a spoon to eat. She wasn’t eating anything, half of her food ended up on the floor. She only has two teeth and she’s a slow eater, a spoon right now only slows her down even more.

I watch them take a toddler who gets off the mat and put him/her back on the mat like a million times if necessary. I’m shocked that when DD wakes up early she just lays there or will play with a toy on her mat.

I know! We’ve tried the visors (multiple ones) and the baby rinse off pitcher thing with a visor, she still hates it. The only things that seem to work (sometimes) is if I rinse my hair first or just a really, really wet rag on her head. I’m just so thankful we only wash once a week and co-wash every 3rd day.

Yea I think it has to do with emergency evacuations or something? But my kid is not walking out on his feet during an evacuation so. J is starting to use spoons and forks on his own but he would not be able to eat a whole meal. Also try and insist on it and oh gosh... it sounds like your daycare is a strict, advanced plane and mine is pretty much the opposite of that.

This is just so bizarre to me lol They don’t transition to the toddler room (and cots) until 18 months, so maybe that’s why? DS2 has yet to come home with his shoes on. I do send him in shoes. They end up off, and we’re never told why 🤦🏼♀️

This is about our schedule too since DD has type 3b to 3c with very low porosity. The worst is finger combing the conditioner through. We use Cantu kids and it says tear free but it definitely stings when I rinse. We do leave in conditioner a lot because of this.
