N’s crib just came! I’ll let H set it up because no thank you! He worked at IKEA in high school so he is pretty much an expert at setting things up even if they aren’t from IKEA.

A took off her own diaper this morning...pulled/pushed it right down to her knees, then tried to climb out of it... While I'd love to not have the cost of diapers, I'm not ready to potty train (plus I feel she's too early at 15.5 months).

We cloth diaper mostly but use disposables sometimes and I can't leave it exposed or J takes the tabs off. The cloth diapers have multiple snaps and he hasn't shown any interest in taking those off yet. I do need to buy a potty soon though because the number of times we've had to take him out of the tub and sit him on the toilet is... too many.

Any recommendations? I was looking at the BabyBjorn ones - the smaller one seems nice and portable... is that good enough?

sheilathetank That thing looks so cool! If I had spotted that before buying other potty stuff, I'd want that for DS. piratecat I initially bought this basic Summer Infant potty and I've always been happy with it. We also ended up with this one when we tried letting DS pick out his own potty to motivate him to PT--it's okay, but I had to turn the sound off because it distracts him. I think I'm going to put one of them in my car for potty emergencies, especially since he still refuses to use public toilets.

I think DS is too used to me asking him if he needs the potty when he farts. I farted earlier and he asked me "Mommy, do you need the toilet?"

No "little potty" which also made it much easier when out in public and using public restrooms.

We installed toilet seats with built-in (optional) kiddo seats that are part of the lid. I think they're called "Next Step". I haven't used them with a kid, but we were replacing the cheap/flimsy ones that were installed when we bought the house, and these weren't expensive and seemed like a neat idea. We'll see how it goes.

I can't get my kid to pee on either the little potty or the potty ring 😩😩 he uses both of them like a friggin recliner!
In other randoms, I took DS1 to the dentist today and he did so well that I wasn't quite sure he was my kid! I'm so pleased, I was prepared for a screaming fit. 🙌🏼

DNW to have to dump and clean a mini potty. DS1 was always fine with it, just needed help on and off. He's pretty short so it took for.ev.er. for him to be tall enough to learn to pee standing up lol.

We had one downstairs and one upstairs. He randomly decided to just use the big toilet one day. 🤷 Daycare really helped potty train though and they use the short toilets.

+whatever to the insert on the regular seat. I don't enjoy dumping the little ones, go figure. We actually used all the potting seats at this point. Whatever works with that kid to get them out of diapers.

What do you guys do to prevent your kid from using the entire roll of toilet paper when trying to wipe?

When is she moving into the crib? I put her in yesterday for her nap, but she’s still in bed with us at night. I’m thinking maybe in like a week. There’s a queen size bed in her room that I’ll sleep in but it has a bunch of baby stuff that needs to go into the attic.

He's as tall as a 5 year old and still needs to stand on tiptoe.

What do you guys do to prevent your kid from using the entire roll of toilet paper when trying to wipe? I have boys, so this is a less common occurrence, but I remove the toilet paper from the roll and hand him pieces for wiping, with a heads up when he gets his "last piece." (Then I do final wipe) This is probably not the process I'd use with a girl since I wouldn't want to have to go in every time she peed. But maybe set a wipe limit? Like 6 squares, 3 wipes? Or whatever is reasonable.

She can't figure out how to rip it off the roll so she either takes a tiny pit the size of your finger nail or tears a long strip right down the middle of the paper. Half the roll ends up on the floor and then its either left there or she tries to put it all in the toilet. It's pitiful and comical at the same time.

It might not look nice, but the dispensers in public bathrooms have those sharp edges to help tear. I bet you could find one on Amazon - maybe that would help her get a more limited amount? You could also do those Kandoo wipes and have her throw them in the trash, but that might be too ick. But I know they're not really flushable.

Any tips for dealing with separation anxiety? DS is starting to melt down at daycare drop off. His teachers are usually able to distract him and face him away from the door while I leave, but the sobbing just breaks my heart.

Ours does the opposite, they have them wave bye bye at the window so they are in partial control of the situation. This in the the toddler room. In the infant room, I relied on distraction and GTFO asap. In talking with other parents this is a phase that regularly comes and goes throughout the years.

He's in the infant room for another 1.5 months (OMG HOW IS HE THIS BIG?). I'll be interested to see how the toddler teacher handles it, but the waving sounds like a good idea. Some days, I sit him down and he immediately crawls over to his buddy and starts playing and is 100% fine. Days like today, they both sit in the floor and cry together while we walk out. So sad.

I find that any change in routine at home can cause issues at dropoff. Also, you may find that it picks up again when you change rooms. Also those kids feed off of each other. If one kid is crying at the window at dropoff then they all do it. But I know that 2 minutes after I'm gone they'll be playing and laughing.

They're adorable, but they definitely adapt to the other's mood. His teacher posts photos each day, and he's never anything but grinning and happy. But it sucks to leave on that note. He's also mid-leap, which is always a rough time. Thanks. (:

I'm at the dentist for myself. I asked about bringinv DD in and during the conversation she mentions that I should be flossing DDs teeth. It took everything in my power not to laugh in her face. I can barely get her teeth cleaned without her screaming "no, I do it" flossing is not even in my universe at this point.
