I still have my medela but I might check out and see what's available through my insurance. Last time I pumped an ok amount but used it daily because was working FT. This time I SAH so I won't need to use one as much.

With DS I never had an over supply, just had enough for him and was able to pump an extra 2-3 oz per day in the beginning. At 8 months postpartum I got my period and it severely affected my supply and I started to supplement with formula. I made it almost a year but I wonder if I didn't have to pump what my supply would have been. I also have PCOS which can affect it too.

I have a Medela Pump in Style from DS1. It was fine. My supply also became an issue after I went back to work and was pumping a lot. I wonder if a different pump would have worked better. I never pumped enough to have a freezer stash, only barely enough to feed him at daycare the next day. We started supplementing at 6 mo and it went downhill quickly from there, completely weaned by 7 mo. I would have liked to have made it longer.
Anyway, my insurance company works with a local medical supply company and they ordered and delivered the pump to the hospital, which was incredibly convenient. I’m not sure if another pump would have been an option. Perhaps I’ll ask this time, though I have so many Medela accessories that it might just be easiest to get the same thing again and have one for work and one for home so I don’t have to tote it back and forth.

frecklesnbrains that was almost my exact experience with both of my girls. BF was easy at first, but the minute I went back to work, even with diligent pumping my supply tanked. With number 3 I am not going to sweat it. If I BF through maternity leave that’s great, anything beyond that is what it is.

My kid pooped in the tub and promptly ran to his room and peed on the carpet. Fun times.

Why is it that when someone asks me when I'm due and I respond July, their response is usually, "oh you still have a way to go". WTF is that supposed to mean?

My husband is a very hands on parent. The only time I've truly seen him nope out of a parenting situation is poop in the tub. I laughed so hard at how freaked out he was. I thought he may never give them a bath again. He bleached that tub like 3 times. Luckily it only happened once.

We had one incident of poop in the bath tub. H was more grossed out when she threw up all over her carpet. 😂😂

H was paralyzed in fear when DS pooped in the tub. He frantically yelled for me and was like what do I do? I laughed hard and told him to take DS out of the tub and dry him off, while I scooped it out with a cup and sprayed everything with bleach. H was like "Oh, that was easy." 😒
H and I have a deal that I deal with poop and he deals with vomit. I can handle poop, but not vomit and H is the exact opposite. I feel like we're perfectly matched there.

frecklesnbrains, If you decide to try something new and go with the Spectra, you can get an adapter so you have use your Medela parts. I think I've mentioned it here before, but if you go with the Spectra, I recommend ordering spare parts because they aren't available in stores (that I experienced). I broke the backflow protectors a few times and was glad to have spares on hand because that part is needed for the pump to operate. I went through Aeroflow for my pump last time. They sent me email reminders to order spare parts and they were covered by insurance. I never knew spare parts were covered by insurance and was skeptical the first time I ordered them.

My insurance only covers the PISA or a Lansinoh pump. I can get a free style for $195 out of pocket. I guess I'm just going to get another PISA. I was really hoping to get the Spectra so I'm a little bummed.

I was looking into them yesterday. The only negative for the spectra for me is that it does it take batteries. Sometimes the power the crazy in our break room and I needed the battery power with DD.

My Medela PISA on battery pack was worthless. I could use the Spectra on battery and not notice any difference between that and plugging it in. It was so nice not to be tied to cords in the office. I just recharged the pump at night and never had to bring the AC adapter to work with me.
That said, I don't think the Spectra is the end-all, be-all to pumps. I know people who responded better to the PISA. I only gave Spectra a shot because I responded poorly to the PISA so I figured I had nothing to lose. The output was marginally better. I think my supply just sucks due to PCOS.

I have 2 PISAs from last time (one mine, one hand me down). I think I'm going to start with those, and see how things go. If it's not going well, I'll use insurance to try out a Spectra.
I also plan to have an additional month at home compared to last time, so that should help, too, to have another month of direct nursing vs. pumping.

I need to buy a large bottle of bleach in August. It's not bad until they're mobile. Once, my cat pooped on our brown rug and I didn't see it right away, but DD did (she was like 8 months and crawling), and investigated. By doing what babies do. And put it in her mouth. Lots of screaming, soap, bleach, and a call to her pediatrician and poison control later, it was all good.

She probably got a huge immune system boost tasting cat poop 🤢😝
