The baby is moving a ton today so that is making me really happy. My appointment is in an hour. I'm nervous. I've never had more than a vision test ala reading letters, and I have no experience with keeping my eyes open/still on command.

goldenbird , I hope you get some kind of answers today. How was the patch It was kind of meh. I bought some adhesive ones, but they put too much pressure on the eye itself, which is sore. I got a fabric dome one which doesn't put pressure on it, but it was just uncomfortable and weird having it on. I left early.

My ob was running late this morning, which was actually kind of nice. I got to sit by myself in peace and quiet for a few. Rhogam hurts and my blood draw wasn't exactly pleasant either. Oh well. Here's hoping I passed the 1hr gtt.
I meet with HR tomorrow to talk about maternity leave. I requested my breast pump through McKessin. We're getting closer to being able to set up the baby's room. I'm happy to keep ticking things off of my to do list. I'm a little anxious that the baby still doesn't have a room and that we haven't ordered anything for him.

goldenbird, I hope you get some answers about your eye and that you are feeling better soon. Eye issues are the worst.

I hope you get a treatment plan today! And FX it's not the serious version.

We started potty training with DS on Saturday and he was originally beyond resistant (think full tantrums about using the toilet) to now staying dry overnight and having maybe one accident a day. I'm in shock! My sciatic nerve has been killing me the last few days and I'm hoping this is not my new normal. And I'm exhausted. And I don't want to work anymore. Anyone want to pay my bills for me? How old is your DS? Mine will be 2.5 next week and I haven’t pushed the issue yet. He is adamant about not wanting to even try, and I don’t have the energy to force him. DD wanted to potty train as soon as she turned 2, but then it was 6 months before she figured it out. I’m wondering if I should just wait until after the baby comes or try to get him trained before then....just have no energy! Your story gives me hope. They do a big shift of classes at preschool in August (after a bunch of kids leave for kindergarten) and he has to be potty trained to move up to the 3yo class. I’m worried he’ll get left behind for another 6m+ even though he’s very ready otherwise.

So I took an Ancestry DNA test a few months ago and it told me 100% Eastern Asian (-_-). But I uploaded my raw data into another database, and it gave me 50% Chinese, 33% Japanese, and 3.4% Korean. I've been told my entire life I'm 100% Korean, so that was a shock.
But then 23andMe had this special yesterday where I could upload my data for free, and it gave me 50% Korean, 33% Japanese, and 3.6% Chinese. So my guess is that China and Korea are too closely linked for them to really tell them apart. It's interesting how the %s align so well though. And the 1/3 Japanese. My dad's family, Korean, has been living in Japan for over 100 years so it's possible that someone had a kid and didn't tell the truth about who the daddy was lol. Also, that was back when Japan ruled Korea, and a lot of them took Korean women by force, so I guess I'll never know. I was curious because my body type is so different from most Eastern Asian, and I was positive I had some type of Pacific Islander or Mongolian in my DNA (I'm broad, with thick legs, and darker skin), but nope. Less than 1% SE or Islander. DNA is so fascinating.

That's super interesting kaeguri and makes me want to take a DNA test - lol. I've assumed that I'm 50/50 Chinese and Sri Lankan. However, my mother's family migrated to Malaysia, which is where she grew up. I'd be interested to see if I'm truly 50/50.

Oh crap, I failed the 1hr test! Now I need to take the 3 hr test😭😭😭 I’ve had to take it twice this pregnancy. The first time I passed with flying colors and felt absolutely awful. The second time I barely failed and felt fine the whole time. Just don’t be concerned if you feel bad - it’s an insane amount of sugar to force on a fasting pregnant woman! And 2/3 of the women who fail the 1hr go on to pass the 3hr. If you don’t pass, there are already a couple of us with GD — we can start a check in as more join. It’s a pain, but totally manageable.

Oh dang. Bummer cornflakegirl. I'm in the same boat with you if it makes you feel any better. My 3 hour is on 5/7 and I'm pretty sure I'll be dealing with GD as well. I love the check in idea that tarheelmom mentioned!

Thanks guys. He said it's iritis, inflammation of the iris. Apparently scleritis is pretty rare. He prescribed steroid eye drops, which I'm waiting on a call back from the OB to make sure I can use. They are Cat C because there haven't been enough studies on their use in pregnancy. I saw one thing about oral-facial clefts. But I'm 24 weeks so his face and mouth are already developed so I hope that wouldn't be an issue. I really need to use them because he said it wouldn't go away anytime soon/easily without them.

If my doctor's office doesn't call me back today I'm going to start them anyway. 🙊 Like, I can't freaking live like this. The baby has zero chance if I crash my car while driving because of my damm eye, so I think the benefits outweigh any possible risks.

I did pass that one with DS so FX that I do this time too.

You should do it! My mom's side has lived in Korea for as long as anyone remembers, but my dad's side immigrated to Japan in the late 19th century, but still married within the Korean community there. The 23andMe site said my Japanese DNA came in somewhere between 1900-1960, which would make sense. My husband thinks he's mostly German and Irish, and his mom said there's also Polish, Russian, and a bunch of other European countries thrown in there. His beard has red and black and blonde and brown all mixed in. It's so fascinating. And our daughter looks white, no trace of Asian except her dark brown eye color.

goldenbird, I would go ahead and start, for the reason you mentioned. I hope they work quickly! cornflakegirl, I know a lot of people who failed the 1hr and passed the 3hr, so FX! vvvvvfee, aw, I should have posted here! A friend on FB posted it late last night, so I just barely got mine in before midnight (west coast time). I will! I think they were doing it for World DNA day, which was yesterday. I haven't heard of that book. *runs to google* WeGene is another free site that you can upload your raw data too.

The baby has zero chance if I crash my car while driving because of my damm eye, so I think the benefits outweigh any possible risks. I had lasik done the same month I got pregnant #oops. I had to use steroid drops for about a week. I looked at the studies that have been done on the drops and it was something like (I’m totally paraphrasing) “the monkeys were given 500 times the dose by mouth and these side effects were recorded” I decided that since the drops were going in my eyes at a minimal dose that I was probably okay. My opinion (no doctor here) is that baby will be just fine if you use the drops and that if you don’t use the drops that will likely have a worse effect on your pregnancy (stress, anxiety, depression etc.)
