Good morning! We are getting ready to put G on the bus for school. Then I am heading to target with little man. There is a handful of things I need to pick up. MH will be home at his normal time today so I don’t think today will be too bad.

Talk to me about the Magic Merlin sleep suit. With DD1 we couldn't use any swaddles or anything since she was in a brace for her hips so I have no experience. DD2 did not like being swaddled so we haven't been doing anything. She can now turn herself around in her bassinet and I feel like she's constantly moving. Would this thing help calm her and maybe give us stretches longer than 3 hours? I mean she's 12w now. Get it together baby. Has anyone tried the sleep suit after not being swaddled that long? I wonder if she will hate it and it will make sleep worse for us.

sarahh, I'm a fan of the Merlin, but obviously some kids don't like it. They are $$$ but I see them on the yard sale sites sometimes. I would think it would be a good option for you because it's more similar to PJs than to a swaddle. With DD I started at 3 mos with the 6-9 mo size and used that until she could roll in it. They run SMALL ime. Joel is 13.5lbs and he's almost out of the 3-6 mo.

benandjerrys, good to know about the sizes. I saw one posted on our local bst for $8 but it's a 3-6mo and baby is about the same weight as Joel. I'll have to see if there are anymore listed in the next bigger size.

I was able to get the baby a ton of stuff at the consignment sale yesterday so I need to do that laundry. Mainly housework that’s been put off is my goal and coming up with my Easter menu.
And I think DS2 caught DS1’s cold so I’m trying to make sure he’s upright as possible otherwise he sounds like he’s gaggig/choking.

I’m taking all four girls to the zoo today to meet up with friends. Pray for us. Lol. It’s a small zoo and I’m really only concerned about DD3. She’s a runner and a terrible listener. We’re going to Disney end of April and I’m seriously considering putting her on a leash and getting some sort of GPS device to stick on her. 🤷🏼♀️
We’re stupidly hosting a sleepover birthday party tomorrow for DD1. I haven’t accomplished much for it. I know the reality is, as long as we have food and a couple activities they’ll be fine and have a good time. But usually I go big for birthdays so this is hard. I just didn’t have it in me this year and I’m feeling guilty about it.
Mom guilt is dumb.

ajetter don’t feel guilty. I’m sure whatever you do DD1 will love it. Could you let them do make your own pizzas or cookie decorating? When we watch movies we like fun popcorns (Erica’s sweet tooth has tons of ideas).

sarahh not the merlin but my DD1 did not like the swaddle. At 12w we moved her to her crib and used a Love2 Dream sleep sack. It worked well for us. Fx you find something!

DD had another night of decent sleep. DH fed her at 930pm, then she slept until 3, ate and back in bed by 4. She started crying at 6, so I brought her into bed with me where she slept until 830. I celebrated by having leftover sweet cornbread for breakfast with coffee and raspberries.
Unfortunately we got a bunch of snow/ice/melt yesterday, and I can't really get out of the driveway to pick up the rest of the Easter stuff that I want to get for DS. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get out next week and they will still have what I'm looking for.

Just dropped off DD1 at daycare, so now I have 2 hours before I’m heading back out to pick her up. *Almost* feels not worth the hassle, but it is. Just hope baby is cool with chilling in the rnp so I can take a shower. sunfrogger You got this! I’m alone all day as well. H gets back tomorrow from this week’s trip. My sanity saver is dance parties with the toddler. I wear baby, put on fun wedding dance songs and DD1 runs around while I “run” around. It feels less lonely, and gives us 20 minutes where she’s not trying to smother the baby with her snot.

I need to get over my irrational fear and anxiety of baby wearing.
I think putting him in a carrier would make life a little easier.

I got a wrap this time around but never used it because I couldn't easily figure it out and trust that it would hold the baby. I am really liking the Tula that I got though. We haven't used it a ton but it was easy from the beginning. Maybe start out with a more substantial carrier like that and see if you are comfortable in it?

I am still not at the point of getting baby in by myself, DH has to help me get her in correctly. But it's nice to have it for DD1's gymnastics class so I can help her with stuff and baby seems to like it because she falls asleep every time. I can see us getting a lot more use out of it when the weather is nicer and we go downtown for events and festivals more often. Especially since DD1 will rarely stay in the stroller anymore.

Morning all!
I’ve hardly been posting this week or even lurking. After gettingvoretty sick last week and ended up with a ruptured eardrum on Monday, I kept getting sicker and more consistently fevering pretty high so I went back to the doctor yesterday and it ended up developing into a pretty massive double ear infection. I’ve already been able to keep my temps down with the new antibiotics I’m on and I just can’t wait until my ears are unplugged, it’s going to be a glorious moment. On top of that, DD1 ended up with a more minor ear infection last Friday, followed up with a rapid breathing spell and high fevers on Saturday night that earned herself her own set of drugs, and Wed night DS woke up puking and in so much pain and he ended up with his own pretty mega ear infection that’s blocked his hearing too. OY. It’s like living in a pharmacy right now making sure everyone is getting all their appropriate antibiotics and OTC meds for comfort. So I need all the best thoughts that N doesn’t come down with any of this. She started coughing yesterday afternoon and had a stuffy nose today but has so far kept her temps down and is breathing ok. I’m going to be keeping a close and paranoid eye on her.
Anyway, that’s about the gist of my week. We had to skip DS’s hockey wind up party yesterday which was a huge bummer but when I texted the team manager what was going on (since she’s a friend too) she brought us over food from the party when it was over with the promise of more this weekend 😭😭 so nice.

DD1 has been up since 5 so I'm hoping in an hour she'll go down easy for a nap .. But no idea what to make for lunch. Or dinner for that matter. I was going to go to my mom's today but I didn't feel like leaving on no sleep.
We do a lot of movies here. I can't get it up to care. 🤷♀️ right now it's the Grinch.
O is sleeping all morning but probably because she's sick and also she didn't sleep well last night.

That sounds awful tiffrobot, I hope you are all feeling better soon! sunfrogger I am new to baby wearing but I have the Ktan and love it so far! DH has one too and I've found it really easy to get DS in and out of, and he falls asleep in there a lot.

I'm not sure if I shared this here but I ended up doing Zumba with the TODDLER on my back in the Ergo. Just dancing with me wasn't enough. he wanted me to pick him up. I only lasted one song like that but it was fun!

tiffrobot, sorry you guys have been so sick. From what I understand it is good for the baby that you got it and less likely she will get it. (or if she does, a less terrible version)

One thing about buying it used, I think they do eventually lose their stiffness after a number of washes. Something I’ve noticed but maybe it’s just me.

I’m finally getting the hang of the moby ) I struggle with how much fabric there is). For the ergo when I’m by myself I click the waist and first, then put one arm in. Then I slide DS2 in the side that’s not on my shoulder yet. It’ll be even easier when he’s not in the infant insert. Oh but peeing while wearing it is quite interesting.

After going to two stores to pick up the last of our Easter stuff, I am home. Little man did really well. I fed him at target and after he burped I put him back in the stroller. He then lasted through old navy and 5 below. I’m now waiting for G to get home. After we hang out a bit it will be lunch, nap and then MH will be home.

tiffrobot I’m so sorry for all the sickness! Sounds awful. We have gone through those bad stretches too where it’s one thing after another. I find that once it’s over we tend to have a nice long stretch illness free. Hope that happens for you!
