Hi all. I need coffee. First day actually on my own all day. Eep... You are going to do great! Once you get through the first day alone it feels like an accomplishment and does wonders for your confidence.

I have the same fear as you. I got a wrap this time around but never used it because I couldn't easily figure it out and trust that it would hold the baby. I am really liking the Tula that I got though. We haven't used it a ton but it was easy from the beginning. Maybe start out with a more substantial carrier like that and see if you are comfortable in it? I also bought a Tula. But that is as far as I have gotten with it...buying it omg do yourself a favor and use it!! The Tula has magical fairy dust on it that I swear makes every baby happy. What in particular are you scared of with baby-wearing?

You got this sunfrogger!! Don’t feel guilty if you have to resort to screen time or treats for bribes for the toddler to make it through alive

Today is L’s f/u ultrasound fx his numbers are better. Only one number was off, I really would like to avoid the brace if possible. At least I know what to ask so I shouldn’t have to wait for the doc to know the results. H should be home by the time we get home.

I like the Ktan for squishy newborn stage and the Babyhawk mei tei for after. I actually think my days with the Ktan are over as when I do wear her now I like using the BabyHawk better!

tiffrobot I’m so sorry for all the sickness! Sounds awful. We have gone through those bad stretches too where it’s one thing after another. I find that once it’s over we tend to have a nice long stretch illness free. Hope that happens for you! Ugh I hope so! We haven’t been doing this family of 5 thing for too long yet to have something this big come through. (H has been sick too but luckily so far hasn’t gotten any of the secondary infections, and tends not to suffer from the dreaded man cold haha) And yes easternshoregirl, I’m really hoping it’s a much more muted version than what the rest of us have. She’s the last to come down with a cough by like, several days, so fingers crossed.

Even though weekends don't really mean the same thing after becoming a mom, I am so glad it's friday. MH is going to the gym and out for dinner with his buddy tonight so I am solo. Also solo all day tomorrow while he works. trying to come up with a game plan on how to keep the big entertained.
My big guys behaviour has been SOSOSOO bad these past few days and i'm at a loss. He's lasing out and hitting/kicking us when he doesn't get his way and has been hurting or not being nice to his friends at daycare. I take it personally like somehow i'm failing him in some area because he is so sweet normally and so happy. He loves helping his teachers and me around the house and just generally more easy going but man lately he has some wicked tantrums. Hoping this is just a phase

sarahh yellow711 I was NEVER going to babywear. It’s just not something I wanted to do. However its occasionally necessary for me because I can’t always have the stroller or I don’t want to go all the way to the car to get it. I have a Tula and it’s actually pretty comfortable. The baby loooooooves to be in it. He is usually asleep within 5 minutes of being in it. Try it!

I have an excessive amount of laundry I need to do today. Does it ever end?!
DD1 is currently playing school in her room and I am feeding DD2 and will be putting her down for a nap shortly...hopefully in her crib.
I need to find all of the 6 mo clothes and wash them. They are in a bin somewhere in the garage. I cannot believe this baby is in 6 mo clothes already!

I need to dig out DD1's old clothes too. we are off seasons but I'm sure there are some leggings/tops that will work for now. I also need to see what I need to get for summer. We have so many totes of clothes in our attic that it's overwhelming to think about sorting through them. I was really good at labeling stuff when I packed it away initially but then I would find random small stuff later on that I think it mixed in with bigger stuff.

We had a pretty good night, but DH found out today he has been laid off and only gets one week of severance pay. He makes TWICE the salary I make when I'm working and we are all on his insurance. I'm doing okay at not spiraling down the "OMG WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO" path. We do have some savings, I've already started the process of going back to work early (which I was debating doing anyway) and DH has a very marketable skill set so this should be a very short term problem. He has already talked to several recruiters and has some promising leads. There is never a good time to get laid off, but 8 weeks after having a baby is for sure not one of them.
One of the things that pisses me off right now is the insurance thing. We had already met our deductible for the year and now we will be starting over, so if one of us gets sick or hurt we will be paying 100% until we reach a new deductible. The odds of a serious issue are slim, but with a newborn who knows.

Omg aprilz81 I couldn't imagine. Fx he finds something quickly! Thanks all for the vote of confidence. So far OK.. Big is napping. Little is eating. I'll pop her in the swing when she's done to eat /do schoolwork. It would just feel better if I wasn't running on fumes / sick! Tho we aren't as sick as tiffrobot. Feel better soon over there!!! I plus whatever the wearing. Srsly. I got out the ktan and O liked it until she got sick from the mucus etc and covered everything in spit up.. It feels a hair too small and I def prefer my Lille.

We survived the zoo! DD4 slept the whole two hours we were there and everyone else was relatively well behaved. I need to figure out how to really clean the car seat. This is what poor baby looked like when we got to the zoo. And this is pretty much any time she goes in the car seat. It smells so bad.

aprilz81 I’m so sorry! Hopefully he finds something new quickly. tiffrobot I hope you feel better soon! The baby had a 2.5 hour nap this morning, woke up, ate and now has been sleeping again for an hour. This is so much more than normal, I’m guessing it will make for a rough night. Thankfully since I have to work tomorrow, my husband is on night duty tonight. I haven’t done anything while he’s napped. I go back to work full time soon, so I’m just going to take advantage of the laziness today.

ajetter is that the chicco keyfit? If so, my DS2 was a prolific spitter and we have that seat. You can wash the straps. Turn it over and unhook them from those silver hooks. Take a picture first so you remember how to get them back hooked. The whole cover can be washed too but you probably know that. I just washed our straps before she was born.

DH has already talked to several recruiters and has some promising leads. He is meeting with one of them Monday morning for coffee.
I will have my return to work form on Monday so I will be going back to work on Tuesday. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I'm happy to get back to using my brain and earning money but on the other hand I'm a little resentful that my hand is being forced. This is irrational because 1) I had already contemplated going back to work and 2) 2 years ago I was laid off for 6 months and we made it work and DH was supportive. Odds are he will be out of work for less than a month and I just need to learn to let go of some things.
