Doesn't it only last like 3 minutes? Total eclipse lasts for a few minutes but there is quite a bit of time before and after of partial eclipse.

Doesn't it only last like 3 minutes? We had people drive in from all over the place - traffic was a nightmare. People get stupid.

The eclipse is happening at dismissal time here---so all kids are getting solar eclipse glasses for it. But besides that everything is normal. Right now it is super clear per the weather---we are in the 90% totality range.

He bought some kind of special viewing telescope thingee as well as eclipse glasses. Also our school district (I'm sure purely by coincidence) timed things well since it'll happen during spring break.

Ope our district just announced an early dismissal for eclipse day. I can't wait for parents to be pissed about it (but honestly they could have called it much sooner) That is super annoying for parents. It's not like the eclipse was a surprise

I have a meeting in Dallas for the next couple days. It was purposely planned there so people could stay for the eclipse (I’m going home)

Heading to Austin on Saturday for the eclipse - staying with family. Monday is a school holiday, and we’ll probably head home on Tuesday (and our girls will just miss school that day).
We’re celebrating a milestone birthday of a family member while we’re in the Austin-area as well. And my dog’s 3rd birthday…we’re having a little party for him! Big few days!
I’m really hoping traffic isn’t too terrible, but I honestly just have no idea. I’m so used to crappy, unpredictable traffic anyway that I think my expectations stay in check.

Every hotel in our area is completely booked for Sunday and Monday and have been for a year so traffic in our already bad traffic city mixed with it being at dismissal time is why the schools canceled around here

Also in the path of totality here with kids off school and every place booked. Our city announced a location in the event of mass casualties due to the large influx of people coming here and people are now certain the government has something planned to kill us. 😭 I weep for humanity.

Our town just announced a eclipse viewing event and I'm torn between thinking it sounds like fun and not being sure I want to be that social. 😅

Although CLE isn't a picnic either. Cincy is the worst! It’s the worst I hate it.

My sister is 36 weeks and is at the high blood pressure point. She has had preeclampsia for the other 3 so this is not new but it never gets not scary.
She is at the doctors now so I’m on waiting game for if it’s hospital time. We were hoping for at least one more week to make it to 37 weeks

I had elevated blood pressure with my 2nd pregnancy and my doctor admitted me about a week early so they could monitor up to when she wanted to induce at 37 weeks. I never went into full blown pre-eclampsia, but it's still nerve wracking. The good news is that she's being monitored and they're watching out for her and the baby. Sending her all the healthy and safe delivery (at 37 weeks) vibes. 💗

With my nephew she had a terrible doctor and was at stroke level when she went in for her induction so nothing will ever be as bad as that so I just have to remember that.

Any tips for comfort for new braces today? Kiddo is getting them and I know they're gonna be miserable about it. The appointment is at 9am of course, thanks XH.

It's early release day plus we'll probably have a snow day tomorrow if not also Friday, so I'm trying to get my work done (impossible), prepare for the storm (brave the store), and then also get ready for a wedding and sending the kids with their grandparents on an 8 hour drive and first sleepover for the 3YO this weekend.

We are in the path of 85% totality. Lots of drama from in our district because they annoyed that the schools won’t be providing glasses for the kids. It’s supposed to peak right as the elementary school will be boarding buses to come home.

The school is providing glasses, and then donating them to Astronomers Without Borders, which I think is so cool.
I love stuff like this, I'm a space nerd even though it freaks me the fuck out. Why is it expanding? Expanding into WHAT? HUH?1!?1?!?1

They might surprise you, DD has been a champ and she's decidedly NOT a trooper with medical stuff. Otherwise, motrin and let them get a cold treat they like.

It's snowing. I am the only one in the entire state who is thrilled, lol.
Well, and Bagel. That Bernese Mountain Dog half of her is obsessed with cold weather.

The transportation department put out a notice saying that we should stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary on a Monday. It wasn’t popular.
Also some weird thing about letting visitors use your bathroom? I’ll look it up. ( eta:It was an April Fool’s joke!)

Although I did let a stranger use my bathroom once when her son had a car accident in front of our house.
