We're at 100% totality and the school district has purchased glasses for all students and teachers. They're planning fun and educational activities around the eclipse.
Joke might be on us, GFS is showing potential cloudy weather next Monday...

We had plans to be at the ILs in Western NY this weekend so we decided to stay another day there and skip school. Totality is at 3:20p and we need to drive 8 hours back home for school the next day. If traffic is going to be a nightmare we'll probably drive late late into the night. 😬

But they are anticipating disruptions to traffic.

We JUST got the email from the district adjusting the schedule for a 1/2 day for the eclipse. Cutting it a little close here for people to make arrangements in under a week (people who aren't me luckily that I'm complaining for on their behalf, but still). My kids will be happy.

I didn’t give the eclipse much thought but we are in a path of greater than 70% totality and it’s at its peak right when the middle schools let out. It’s been radio silence from the district but I have vision safety concerns because middle school boys are stupid.
Of course I have an out of town meeting so I guess I need to figure out how to make that happen. There is no way H can take the time off work.
We were in the path of totality during the 2017 eclipse and a thunderstorm rolled through right around totality so we saw nothing. But the combo of the eclipse darkness + storm darkness/lightning and thunder made it really easy to understand why people used to think it was the end of the world. It was really freaky

We are very close to the path of totality. I’m planning to pick up my kids after lunch (so they’ll be missing like 2.5 hours, but yolo and all that) and we’re going to drive a bit to see it better.

also, i had my mammogram last week. i just got a note that i had a result available in my portal. the date of my test is in there but the result is blank.
the rational part of my brain knows that this means nothing. but i sure do with they uploaded the results along with the dates.

I’m pulling my son for the day. He said there are only 2 kids in his class who are planning to be there lol.
The district is dumb for not cancelling school.

This weather is awful. I don't think anything will ever be dry again. I just want to go home and curl up on the couch. I’m on my second migraine in 3 days. The weather changes can eff off any time now …

I'm laughing because I'm one of those people that think calling daycare or preschool "school" is really silly so I WOULD NEVER. My oldest is in first grade and attends real "school" sweptaway!

I don't even call my 3YO's daycare "preschool" because his daycare really is not that.

My school is planning a whole thing and frankly I don't want to be here. I did this whole song and dance in 2017 when I was one million weeks pregnant. I'd rather go hang out with DS at his school or pull him and go somewhere else.

I just got an email from school that DS's field trip money is past due. I sent a check in on February 15 - I know I did because I also emailed the teacher about chaperoning that day, AND DS turned in other paperwork that day for another trip, which was processed. So they lost my check and form and now I am supremely annoyed. The trip isn't until the end of May but still... glad I didn't send cash?

I can't decide if I want to keep DS home from daycare or not. I happen to be off Monday just by chance, so if I keep him home I'm just giving up a kid free day. And he would just want to be on his tablet all day. I'm undecided.

Ope our district just announced an early dismissal for eclipse day. I can't wait for parents to be pissed about it (but honestly they could have called it much sooner)

If I keep him home we'll do something fun in the morning like go out for breakfast or something for sure. I need to find where I put our eclipse glasses.

We are in the path of totality and our district is closed on the day of the eclipse. And it’s just a day off and not a stupid e-learning day, luckily. Our area is expecting thousands of out of town people, apparently? It seems crazy to me, but I’m planning on staying off the roads that afternoon. If that is true, it would be a logistical nightmare to get all of the kids home, from elementary through high school.
