I read 7 books in February, and the ones I enjoyed the most were: - The Good Part by Sophie Cousens - The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende - Hello, Stranger by Katherine Center
I recently realized that the 3rd Mrs. Bird book is out (since Aug 2023π). I'm hoping to get to that soon, as I really enjoyed the first two. I have so many books piling up and just want to disappear by myself to an island and read without distractions.

cdnfroggy , have you read any Maggie O'Farrell? Your description reminded at first of A Marriage Portrait, inspired by the 16 year old Lucrezia Medici. I haven't yet - I have some of her stuff on my TBR. I'll have to add that one! I just requested both of these!

The Leslie Jones audiobook is seriously so good. Warning: she drops MFers pretty much constantly so, ya know, careful where/when you listen. But I just ADORE that woman and listening to her talk about her life is amazing.

Iβve also had a hard time starting and stopping books. I DNFd Interesting Facts About Space. Like βEverybody In This Room Will Someday Be Deadβ, itβs a whole lotta talkin and not much plot.
I just started an Appalachian based novel called βIf The Creek Donβt Riseβ and so far itβs keeping my attention despite the TW and the stronger southern dialect that can be a little tough to sort through.

Someone in my book club picked The Five Star Weekend for their pick this month. This is my first Elin Hilderbrand novel. Iβve never been a βbeach readβ kind of person so I admit, I did go into it thinking this wasnβt going to be for me. However, I was sort of pleasantly surprised at first, and intrigued by it and wanting to learn more about the characters. But now I feel like I have been reading it for FOREVEERRRR. And the women are so petty and shallow and holding grudges for 35 years. I pretty much know everything at this point, and Iβm only half way through the book and I donβt understand how there is still sooo much left to read. What else could possibly happen? Thereβs a few issues that need resolved, sure, but I donβt understand how this book is almost 400 pages.
During the first 100 pages I thought maybe I will be adding more of these types of books to my list, but now? Not so much.

I finished This Could Be Us. So good. Really hoping she comes out with more books in this series. 5 stars.
Now I'm starting A Love Song for Ricki Wilde.

I just finished Night of the living Rez by Morgan Tasty and it was really good. He says it draws in stories from friends and family but is not autobiographical, and yet the stories felt real. If you liked Sink by Joseph Earl Thomas I think you'd like this. It gives the gritty reality snapshot of life for s family, just on a reservation instead of a city neighborhood.

I am reading The True Love Experiment, it's cute.
I am listening to Wellness, by Nathan Hill and LOVE IT. It's really long, but I think it's very on point and interesting.
Recently finished Heaven and Earth Grocery Store - 5 stars. Loved it.

I just finished The Rachel Incident by Caroline O'Donoghue and even though I wanted to strangle the main character and her BFF at times, I devoured that book.
I'm currently reading Gods and Generals by Jeff Shaara as I finally read The Killer Angels by his father, Michael, a few months back. Although I'm wondering now if I should have read the trilogy (The Last Full Measure is the 3rd book) in chronological order since TKA comes in the middle and focuses on Gettysburg. #historynerd
I also finished The Ball at Versailles by Danielle Steel. Typical DS fluff but when you want to read and not have to think too much, she fits the bill perfectly.

I'm 20% into Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and I'm really struggling to get into it. I love the other books that Leigh wrote, but this one is hard to get into. Has anyone read this and does it pick it up?

I joined Net Galley today after Sara Goodman Confino posted in the Peloton Moms Book Club that her newest book was just put on there. π So I have now abandoned my other (non audio) books to read it.
I am almost done with The Women on audio, and really enjoying it.

I decided to try something light and read the first Class Mom book. Love the concept but I disliked the main character so so much. She was so selfish and judgmental of everyone. I enjoy the sarcastic humor but nothing else in her personality worked for me. Iβm bummed because I really wanted something to relate to.

I grabbed the second book in the Fifth Season series and will start that tomorrow. I also started A Groom Of One's Own for my night time fluff read.

My friend finished Project Hail Mary yesterday. I was so excited to check in with her about it. She loved it (just like I did). I had told her it was going to be a movie and Ryan Gosling was supposed to play the main character. Apparently she forgot I had told her this, so after she finished it, she had googled to see if it was going to be a movie. She screenshoted me where it said about Ryan, but then she also asked something like β¦.(about a character) βwho will play Rocky in PHMβ. She sent me a picture of that and said OMG did you see Emma Stone is supposed to play Rocky?! We both thought that was so crazy, and she said βyeah I pictured him as a maleβ. Again I was like wait, Rocky isnβt even human so I didnβt really picture him male or female in the first place, more like a large robotic spider/dog but I guess definitely less female than male lol Regardless, still weird. So today I googled it myself. The first thing I see is the link with the info about Emma Stone that she had come across. I clicked it, and it was straight from the author himself β¦. posted on April 1. Yeah, it was an April Foolβs joke ππ€£ I was laughing so hard. No wonder it didnβt make any sense.
