I listened to the Ex Hex and I absolutely hated the narrator. I think I wouldβve liked it more if I read it. I might give the second one a try. I did not like the Erin Sterling books, and I realized that was why I didn't read the Rachel Hawkins ones. The narrator also drove me nuts, and they were a little too cutesy for me. I was the opposite. I hated the first Hawkins book I read (The Wife Upstairs) but loved both the Sterling books. I did love The Heiress, but I would have never given it a chance if someone hadnβt described it to me as Evelyn Hugo with murder.

I finished The Anxious Generation and highly recommend it for all parents especially those of school aged children.

I read The Kiss Quotient on a road trip over the weekend. I wouldnβt say I loved it, but I was entertained, and ready to read the next in the series based on the sample at the end. Of course thereβs a wait for the Libby copy. I hope all of my βreturn earlyβ karma gets sent back to me so I have something light to read over the holiday weekend.

I read The Surrogate Mother by Freida McFadden. It was okay, not my favorite of hers. I found it more predictable than a lot of her books. 3.5 stars.
I also read The Partner Plot by Kristina Forest. I gave this one 3 stars, I was disappointed because I loved the first book of hers I read, The Neighbor Favor.
Now I'm listening to The Night Parade by Ronald Malfi. I can't remember if I heard about this one here or tiktok but I'm really enjoying it. I'm about 80% into it so should finish this weekend.

I'm really looking forward to the third. But most Hawkins books I haven't liked at all. My hold on The Heiress audio just came in so I'm hoping that one is better. I tried the ebook but it didn't hold my interest.

I just finished Hawk Mountain by Connor Habib. It was not what I was expecting but I liked it. I just started listening to The Way Through the Woods

Behind You is the Sea was very, very good. It started out a little slow and tough to keep track of who each character was and exactly how they were interconnected (I love a family tree in the inside cover), but a beautiful story.
I had to DNF Quietly Hostile; the author is hilarious but I was busy heading out on vacation and wanted to get it back to the library for others to enjoy.

My hold for The Women finally came through, and I'm already emotional on the first page. My dad was a Vietnamese Air Force pilot training in the US in 1966. My parents then escaped from Vietnam at the end of the war and were relocated in a town close to the book's opening location, Coronado Island. This is going to be a tough read, but I know her writing will make it so worth it.

I started Kill For Me, Kill For You last night. So far I am interested! Apparently all I want to read these days is twisty books about murder. Not sure what that says about me.

I am finishing up Yellowface and it is so nice to read a book set in DC where the local references aren't butchered

I read The Unquiet Bones and Murder Road this week. I gave them both three stars, although Murder Road was more like 3.5. I liked both but didnβt love them.
Iβm reading No One Can Know now and it ok so far.
I was looking through my upcoming releases this morning and I have so many books Iβm looking forward to in April! I have high hopes for next month.

I finished A Fate Inked in Blood and overall enjoyed it but it was up and down. I liked the premise and the world building, it started out strong then lulled in the middle then picked up again by the end. The end was fairly predictable but itβs book 1 of a series so Iβm expecting book 2 to really get going.

I finished The Heiress this weekend and really didn't care for it. I also read I'm Not Done with You Yet by Jesse Q. Sutanto and really disliked that as well. I was starting to think I was broken but then I read Her Last Move by John Marrs and loved it. I just picked up another by him and its good so far.

I really enjoyed The One and The Passengers by John Marrs. They are set in the same world (also The Minders and The Marriage Act which I liked but not as much) but not necessarily a "series". I have several of his books on my TBR list, I'll have to add Her Last Move, I don't think I've read that one yet.

I gave Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone 4 stars, rounded up from 3.5. I think had I had a chunk of time to focus on it, I would have enjoyed it more. The sequel is sitting here from the library and I'm debating if I go for it or start something else. We leave for vacation in two days and I don't know if I should bring a library book on vacation - is that the rule follower childhood catching up to me? Also, I'm totally overthinking which books to read while on vacation. I made the mistake of starting Covenant of Water on my last trip and that was way too heavy. The sequel is faster paced, I would bring it with on your trip. It's a nice, enjoyable, easy read. You were right, perfect vacation read
