I read Listen For the Lie and gave it 3.5 stars. It was fine, nothing great. I also just finished Do Not Disturb by Freida McFadden. I've read most of her books but this wasn't a favorite. 3 stars. The final twist did get me though. Now I'm finishing The Mystery Writer by Sulari Gentill and I'm starting The Stranger which is Kiersten Modglin's newest. I also just got Kenan Thompson's audiobook and I'm excited for that. Let me know what you think of The Mystery Writer. I’ve liked other books by this author but these reviews aren’t great. I finished today and I enjoyed it and thought it was a decent thriller. However, it didn't really feel like her previous books. I gave it 4 stars.

I loved that book so much! I had no idea it was a movie, I'm going to have to see if I can watch it somewhere. Wow, Kunal Nayyar isn't who I would have pictured for the main character, I pictured him older. IMDb says it’s on Hulu! The only thing I’m a little bothered with is even after reading the synopsis and knowing there’s a good chance you know the ending of the book before you really even read the story, the book cover of kindle version I’m reading (and the cover on IMDb) shows the movie tie in and it’s a scene from the movie and it’s a clear spoiler and I’m like really? Of all the images you could have used for the book, they had to go with that? Still looking forward to reading this one and watching the movie! I’m glad you get a chance to watch it knowing you loved the book ❤️ Ugh, I hate when they do that!

I've been wanting to read Butcher and Blackbird but I've been waiting for the audiobook to come out on my Libby because I've heard the audio is really good. Up until now only the ebook was available. Thanks to your post I just checked again and they finally have the audio! This Wretched Valley sounds like my kind of book, I love wilderness/survival stuff. Definitely adding to my list. Just a heads up, the male narrator of Butcher and Blackbird is Joe Arden, the one who is coming under a lot of fire for manipulative business practices and inappropriate contact with women. I believe the author might have said that she's pulling her audiobook offline for right now, but I can't remember. Well crap, I didn't know that. I'd heard a little about what's going on on tiktok but didn't realize he was one of the narrators for this book.

I am 42% through the audiobook for The Covenant of Water, and my loan is about to expire. I think I’m okay with that. It will be several weeks before I get it again, but I need to break it up with shorter books lol. I made the mistake of starting this one on the plane ride for a weekend getaway. Great book, but it's a marathon, not a sprint. I know the Kindle tells me how many pages a book is, but I still tracked it down at the book store so I could see what a feat I'd accomplished.

I stayed up waaaay too late reading Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey. If you like her style and enjoy a grump/sunshine trope, I thought it was really fun!

Oohhh, I want to read Kara Goucher! Off to find that! I thought it was great (maybe especially if you’re a runner). It’s a quick read but very impactful. I RUN ALL THE MILES

I finished The Fall Back Plan last night and started The Stone Sky today.
I have a few romcoms in my kindle, so it's a matter of deciding what to start tonight.
I grabbed the Kara Goucher book too, but I probably won't start it until I finish Stone Sky.

I don’t remember if I posted about this so I will now.
I finished How Does It Feel? I liked it a lot. It’s avaialble on kindle unlimited which I don’t have. The second book is too. I will have to wait until June when the second book comes out in paperback.
I started Empire of the Vampire because a friend of mine said I would probably like it. I am only 16 pages in so I can’t say if it’s good yet.

I just finished Crescent City 2 last night (House of Sky and Breath) and I need to talk full SJMass universe with someone! My coworker who is also reading her isn't done with the Throne of Glass series and I have spoilery theories!
Next up is book 3 in the Red Queen series, King's Cage.

I was determined and sat down and got 100 pages of Murder Road read. I still have about 150 pages left and I don’t know how I feel yet which isn’t the best when you are 200 pages in

I finished The Mystery Writer and ugh, I didn’t love it. I thought The Woman in the Library was so fun because it was such a unique take on a thriller and I loved the meta aspect of it. This one was a regular thriller but it just dragged for me and I hated the main character. I’ll definitely read another book by her if she writes one but this was a miss for me.
I’m starting The Unquiet Bones next.

I did think it was a decent thriller for a regular old thriller and I like conspiracy theory stuff, but it was nothing like her previous books that I loved. They were so unique and that's definitely hard to find in thrillers anymore.

I finished The Catch by Amy Lea, it was okay. 3.5 stars. Basically It Happened One Summer meets The Proposal.
I listened to Kenan Thompson's memoir and really enjoyed it. You definitely need to read this one on audiobook though.
Now I'm reading Grey After Dark by Noelle Ihli. It's just out today and my first of her books but I've heard they are usually really good.

So I probably set myself up for disappointment!

I finished Yellowface today and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I pretty much hated all the characters and was annoyed by the thriller "twist".
All my holds came in at the same time, so I'm not sure what's next, but it needs to have more plot.

I finished two books today. The first was Just Stay Away by Tony Writ on audio. It was ok. It kept me interested but it was one of those books where you want to shake the main character and make them explain things better. 3 stars.
The other was Sleepless by Michael Omer. Despite not liking the main character, I enjoyed the book and it kept me guessing. I like that he pulls in some supernatural elements into his books. I’ll read the other two in the series. 4 stars
I read Those Girls by Chevy Stevens earlier this week. It was a really hard read but it was good and will stick with me. 4 stars

I’m looking for a book rec for my DD. We went to Barnes and Noble today and she picked up a Freida McFadden book (The Locked Door) and said that is the kind of book she’s looking for. I almost just let her get it but I’ve read all those books and would prefer her to wait. She vetoed A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and is considering One of Us is Lying. I think she wants more of a thrill factor and less mystery. Like she’s read every Edgar Allen Poe short story in school this year and loves those. Any suggestions? Too bad it’s not 1994 and where I could direct her to a billion Point Horror books, lol.

Do you want it to be YA? Just trying to get an idea of your requirements before I think of recommendations! FWIW, I read a ton of Dean Koontz, Stephen King and Mary Higgins Clarke starting in middle school and I think Freida is pretty close to those (probably tamer than King, actually). But obviously parents should get the final say, just wanted to share my experience. 😊

I read Five Survive by her and it was decent. Also Meghan Miranda’s early books were YA thrillers. I really liked Come Find Me.

Maybe I should reconsider. I am honestly not sure what my requirements are. She’s just coming out of a pretty bad depression episode so I feel like I don’t want her to read anything too heavy but that’s not realistic. She’s 13. 7th grade.

Yeah 7th grade was my prime Stephen king period lol. But I understand wanting her to read something less dark. Thrillers are hard because I do think they all tend to have heavy material in one way or another. FWIW, they actually help my anxiety because it allows me to escape. But I’m also an adult, so obviously different. I hope you find something that interests her!

It’s been a minute since I’ve checked in here. I made it through ACOTAR and TOG but I gave up on crescent city. Besides Carissa Broadbent, I haven’t found much romantasy that I’ve liked. I just started spark of the everflame on KU, and it’s keeping my interest so far. 🤞🏻
Amazon has their spring sale for kindle books going on right now. I grabbed butcher and blackbird since my library doesn’t have it and I borrowed if we were villains through KU.
Oh! I also finished the perfect marriage recently. I feel like I’ve seen that mentioned here but I don’t recall the consensus. I HATED it.
