I much prefer drinking out of a glass or cup in general. I really struggle with the stainless steel taste. I’m a plastic bottle girl for cold drinks. Steel for hot drinks. The thought of water and steel makes me squirm a bit.

I much prefer drinking out of a glass or cup in general. At home, for hot beverages, yes. And for non water cold beverages, yes. I’ve adapted for water though and now pack my straw tumbler when I travel bc I need it to feel right in my life. Also my slippers. And sleep headphones . Bc I’m 82 in my soul. Okay, now we’ve found my version of a water bottle. I have in ear and headband types. Last night, I managed to drop my headband in the toilet when I got up to pee. How do I clean it?!

joy, since it’s basically garbage already I would throw the headphones in the washer on a hot wash setting then let it air dry. If the headphones work I would keep using it them.

I travel with a heating pad for my neck and my own fancy soap so whatever brings your heart joy away from home, I endorse.

I really struggle with the stainless steel taste. I’m a plastic bottle girl for cold drinks. Steel for hot drinks. The thought of water and steel makes me squirm a bit. I am here. This is probably flameful, but I still use/buy cases of bottled water from the store. I keep it in the trunk of my car, so that if we are out and I find myself needing water, I bring a bottle with me. I do at least make sure to always recycle it (so if I finish a bottle while out and there's no recycling, I bring the empty bottle home to recycle), but I know recycling doesn't help as much as we want to believe it does and that plastic is the scourge of the earth. I mostly drink my water from cups at home (and I'm a weirdo, and all friends who have visited me know this about me, but I like to drink out of plastic cups as well like a child. I just don't like the taste of water out of glass or anything else. I don't love drinking water to begin with, but I try to drink 90 oz. of plain water a day at least, so I've given up on trying to drink it out of vessels that make it taste bad to me. I do own glasses to offer to guests, but even when people are over, I drink out of plastic. I also still have a plastic Nalgene water bottle that I take if I KNOW I'm going to be somewhere where I'll need water (like spending a day at the amusement park or something), but I forget to fill and take that with me on regular every day outings.

roselab , I feel you on this. Though it has to be the right bottled water, because I'd rather be thirsty then drink Dasani. And yes, I drink my hot coffee out of steel and that is fine. I had never really made that distinction before!

Properly cleaned stainless steel should not have a taste at all. Reusable plastic cups are disgusting to me. Those have a taste.

I just don't understand carrying it everywhere. When I'm out and about I want something I can toss in my bag that won't leak. I'm a hands free girl. This is the whole weird thing to me. I don't care the brand, make or model. It's the whole can't be without a cup thing. Anyway, I have private thoughts about it and none of my close friends are cup toting girlies so that's good. That being said the whole who cares, don't buy one thing is amusing. For one, we talk about all kinds of shit here. 2) the mayhem with the pink Stanleys and people fighting each other has been on the news so it's not like people are hanging out at your Stanley distributors researching the trend. Also, most people I know were paying more than $40 but again, I didn't take a poll or anything about it.

I think the Stanley hate is particularly rich coming from women my age whose parents would have gladly trampled on other parents to get their daughter a cabbage patch doll. My parents borrowed money from a neighbors brother to get mine. There is always going to be something that comes next, silly as it may be. If it sparks joy, it sparks joy. I read this comment the other day and it just kept at me. What does what someone's parent MIGHT have done have to do with their feelings on Stanley's. Like the child isn't responsible for the shit their parent did when they were a kid? Even so, who in the world is like, "well I can't speak on Stanley drama because my mom got me a Cabbage Patch Kid...." Also it was like one Christmas where there were fisticuffs over the dolls. I also feel it's shame that grown people are doing so whether it be for a doll or a cup.

I use a giant yeti water bottle every day and I was going to say this too. I basically only drink from stainless steel now unless I'm at a restaurant or someone else's house and plastic and glass don't taste as fresh.

I have a Stanley, but I don’t take it anywhere with me, if that needs to be added to anyone’s spreadsheet.

I generally just enjoy not having to fill up water cups 500 times a day. I fill one up every night before bed and grab it in the morning and go. Refill it once during the day and I'm pretty much set 🤷♀️ I've been doing this for years though.
My kids do the same thing. Fill up tumblers to take to school the night before, grab it in the morning then drink out of it through to bedtime. Wash and repeat. It makes everything simple and we don't use multiple cups every day

Y'all a very thirsty bunch. I keep seeing memes about how we must've been severely dehydrated as children because I took one sip of a drinking fountain per day if I was lucky.

Lol I've definitely thought about this Eta my kids school have said since kindergarten to bring a (closed) cup with water from home. Which definitely wasn't a thing when I was young. I guess they don't want 500 water fountain breaks? But I guess that makes more pee breaks so who knows

Assuming you have access to safe drinking water, it's bananas to me to routinely buy disposable water bottles in the year 2024. Now and again, in a pinch, whatever but as a habit?
So much plastic waste.
And yes, I bring my cups into coffee places, etc. Straws.
I'm That Way.

Dehydration is a major migraine trigger for me so I do in fact have water with me basically anywhere I go.

And since dealing with AI shit, I get very crunchy joints if I get even remotely dehydrated. So water comes everywhere, and I usually have Liquid IV in my bag also.

The thought of a drinking fountain makes me want to die now. But we drank out of them at school, the mall…anywhere. I can’t begin to guess how much bacteria is on a mall drinking fountain🤢But no one thought about it. It was a simpler time.

I do bring water with me absolutely everywhere. With Sjogren’s I get dehydrated SO easily and then it just ends badly.

Pretty much all of my water intake when I was younger came from water fountains and backyard hoses. What was wrong with our parents?

Pretty sure she still drank out of them until Covid. We weren’t allowed sugary cereal or kool-aid growing up, but go right ahead with the germy water fountain!
