3 years and 6 months and Covid finally entered my home. DS just lit up a test like a Christmas tree. H and I are negative for now but not sure how long we will be able to say that. It was a good run.

I'm sorry for those catching it, whether again or for the first time. I hope it goes easy on everyone.
I saw Dr. Biden has it now.

That is definitely a good run. I was proud that we made it to Jan of this year. How is he feeling? He’s doing ok. It was weird because he took a nap today and I was like I have no idea when the last time he took a nap was (he’s almost 11). But it was also right after he had a big melt down and we were swimming yesterday so I just figured it all caught up with him. Then he said he had a headache but he didn’t eat lunch or drink enough water. So he went to a friends house and then when he was there he was nauseous. So as soon as the mom brought him home, we tested him and were like ok, wow. He took an advil and drank a smoothie and seems ok now. We will see how tomorrow is. No fever, no sore throat or coughing so far.

Oh no I'm sorry!! I hope he's mild and you and YH stay negative. I am amazed there's so many of us who went so long before getting it.

So my first grader started sniffling and sneezing Sunday and we originally thought it was allergies (pollen counts here are ooc) but then she had a mild fever that evening. So we tested her but she didn't turn a test. Which yay, but also I'm not sure if the tests are that reliable with the new strains? And now the 3 year old is sniffly and sneezing today but no fever and no positive test. So did my kid get some other kind of cold at school? Ugh I hate flying blind like this so much.

Follow the directions in the package to do serial testing (second test 24-48 hours later). A positive is a positive, but a negative isn't a negative until you confirm it with a second test.

elle, we've definitely had both a cold and allergies in our house. DD2 had a cough and we took her in to the ped and they even did a PCR test which was negative (DH had it too and he did some rapids that were negative), and they said they are seeing a lot of this right now.

I think it's inevitable that late August/early September sees a lot if transmissable stuff flying around. Kids in the south go back to school, while families in the north are taking last minute trips, so stuff spreads around schools and communities and then gets driven or flown all over the country.

You guys had an amazing run, jaygee. I hope this is quick and mild. We've been back in school for a week and COVID is already making the rounds. We tested yesterday because of some seemingly odd symptoms and our neighbor friend has it. Negative- and all the kids feel fine- so I sent them. I'm still having stomach issues and headaches so will retest tomorrow.

And I’ve known a lot of people around here that have gotten it recently. So I shouldn’t be surprised.

Checking in here again. Sorry to everyone else who has gotten it recently Hope everyone feels better soon! Mine started with a slight scratchy throat on Thursday evening, but we had just gotten back from Atlantic City a few hours ago and our hotel (/casino) had smoking so I attributed to that. Friday my throat was still a little scratchy but otherwise felt OK so we went to the zoo. That night I felt kind of wiped out and started to get sinus pressure. Saturday morning I woke up with body aches and a headache so took a test and it lit right up. Did a Minute Clinic telehealth appointment and got paxlovid. The paxlovid is definitely doing it’s job, as after the first 2 doses I felt 90% better and after 5 doses (out of 10) I’ve felt back to normal. Just really hoping I don’t get a rebound. DD and DH are still negative so provided she is negative again tomorrow morning she’ll be going to school (masked) tomorrow. If you count Thursday as my first day of symptoms, then tomorrow is also the first day I can exit isolation, so I might sneak out with an N95 to see her off on her first day. I’m definitely starting to miss them and getting stir crazy. It is also definitely going around here. Our next-door neighbors also have it, and when DH wanted to buy more COVID tests our closest pharmacy was completely out so he had to go to a farther one

I’ve been stuffy every other day it seems for weeks. I’ve tested multiple times but all negative. I’m anxious to send the boys to school because I don’t know that I can mentally or physically handle them getting it being the primary care taker (h works outside the house and I wfh) and not catch it myself which would make it the third time.
On top of dealing with panic attacks everywhere we go now because I’m terrified to catch it.

And he never got covid.

Seems like they need to make available the booster ASAP That was my first thought yesterday. If we all get Covid this week and they release the booster next week I’m going to be so salty. Especially since we are run and get our shots (flu included) as soon as they are released people.

We're 3.5 years in at this point and we've seen it spread when school starts Why can't they figure this out?!?

When are you recently infected people going to get boosted once it's out? I had it end of July. I saw YLE recommend waiting six months.

And then I’m assuming you can still get a regular flu shot now and then the Covid shot later because that’s what I want to do with DS. We are big flu shot people. If I end up with Covid, I’ll ask at work because I have to have my flu shot by end of October for work.

It makes me nervous to wait six months for the booster lol.

Smoking indoors in 2023?? Wow I know...the casino lobby fought hard when smoking was outlawed everywhere else, because God forbid people have to temporarily stop gambling to go outside and smoke * eyeroll * It is only allowed on 20% of the casino floor but of course it gets everywhere. I actually didn't even think of it when we were booking the hotel because I'm so used to smoking being banned everywhere. Was an annoying surprise when we arrived.

Last year I got mine 4 months post infection, which was the beginning of Jan of this year. I think some people were doing it a month post-infection, but most experts were recommending 4-6 months at the time

It wouldn't even occur tome to ask about this. Hell, France banned smoking like 20 years ago!
