When are we allowed to get boosters again? Or when will the new boosters be available? With school starting I just imagine it's going to be a nightmare. I want us all boosted 😫 I don't think Iowa is tracking anything anymore so who knows how bad it is. I don't know if this is how it will be for sure but I did ask about this at my 7yo's well check in July. His pediatrician said the information they had was that flu and COVID boosters would be available by end of September. Not a combined booster though, we will still have to get them in two separate shots. She thought that seemed a bit optimistic timeline-wise but it does sound like another booster is on the way for some time this fall.

New boosters are coming in the fall (not sure if it will be updated for kids), so if you can, hold off! DS tested positive over the weekend and was completely asymptomatic (his last booster was this winter, prior to him having Covid at the end of December), we only tested because of a large number of cases at his school.

Our neighbor just tested positive today. We carpool and she dropped our kids off this morning. Hopefully it was a short enough time.

DH told me that one of the clinic sites he works at that all the staff had covid last week. 😫
And I know a few people in the last month who’ve also had it. Symptoms were like a bad cold, not as severe as first time catching it.
I’m wondering if we’ll have surges as schools start up again. Back to school is germy enough already, Gah!

An acquaintance who works at a school just came down with it, only just over a week after school started. So yeah, I'm thinking this is going to be a disaster.

I know more people who have tested positive in the last month than I have pretty much all year. Including my dad who had never had it at all and hardly goes anywhere. There is a surge in CA.
And I flew last week and it was noticeable that very few people are masking in airports and on the plane vs when I last flew in March. It was basically my fam and the olds.

I just had a quick trip to CO and there was sooo little masking compared to when we flew in April. Though there were more on my flight back to DC today.

It is definitely making the rounds again. My BFF’s mom has it for the first time and I know several people on their third or fourth round. 😞
I keep begging MH to get a booster before his students come back.

Well this makes me feel great 😡 wapo.st/3P0oUPO“Pfizer, one of the booster manufacturers, had said in June it could have begun distributing its updated booster by the end of July if regulators approved. But neither the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention nor the Food and Drug Administration have acted yet. The FDA is expected to sign off on the updated covid boosters by mid-September, according to officials familiar with the plan. The CDC’s vaccine advisory panel is expected to meet shortly thereafter to recommend who should get the shots — probably everyone 6 months and older. “

I don’t even know what to think anymore. We’ve waited 3 years to take the kids to legoland and now we get to be worried about bringing home Covid. Super. And what are even the guidelines anymore? Do the kids have to stay home for 5 days, is it just watching symptoms? I feel like I’m headed back to 2020 with confusion and not knowing if we have to lock down again.

Like stay home when you're sick but if you aren't go to work. Whee

I tested positive 7/23. It was like when I have a sinus infection but with aches and a low fever. Honestly I almost didn't test. I have my own bedroom and bathroom and isolated pretty well and masked when out of my room. MH and DS never tested positive but for all we know they might have had it already. Who even knows. I felt really shitty for 1 day, not great for another and then progressively better.

I did not go back to work until 5 days had elapsed from symptoms starting. I didn't count day zero though. I could have worked with it through. Just fever or GI symptoms they want us to stay home.

I think YLE recommended waiting six months after infection to get the booster, if you've just now had it.

Yeah, there are no guidelines here anymore. Stay home until you are fever free for 24 hours. Otherwise you should be at school/work. Fun.
Now I wonder if maybe DD1 had it a few weeks ago. She randomly had a low (100-101) fever for less than a day and her only other symptom was feeling a little tired. I didn't even think to test her because she wasn't very sick.

At my job staying home consecutive days is counted as one occurrence so I didn't want to go in after 2 days and feel like I overdid it and have to stay home the next. I wasn't planning to go in until 5 days had passed with COVID but generally that's what I'd do with any illness or injury where I needed to miss work.

Can confirm there is a surge. We just finished 9 weeks of camp and we're supposed to go to the beach today, but my 9 year old tested positive this morning.. his first time. I'm beyond pissed since I had a bad feeling about this last camp and I knew he wouldn't mask despite asking him to (which I get, no one else was). Just bad luck. But also super relieved he got it before we left an exposed my aunt and uncle, I would have felt horrible if he got it while at their house.

I tested positive for Covid last Sunday and had a very mild illness. I don’t know anyone else who has it. I was on a trip with sister in NYC last weekend, sharing a hotel room and eating off the same plates and she didn’t get it. So strange. I isolated and wore an N95 at home and my family seems fine.

My BIL tested positive yesterday. He was only at the baby shower on Sunday for a little bit but of course my sister was there the whole time 🙃. She's not positive right now.but I don't know what precautions they are taking at the moment if any. She's 35 weeks along. I told her to call her OB if she tests positive so they're aware.

I'm 'glad' I had it a few weeks ago since my coworker is out on vacation this week.

My coworker is married to a nurse who has turned into a tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist and she is rubbing off on him big time. He's definitely right leaning but also thought Cheeto face was a dumbass. Doesn't like Biden any better though. But out of nowhere on Wednesday and again today he's talking about how there's going to be another 'invisible pandemic' this fall and he'll get fired before he ever wears a mask or gets a vaccine again blah blah. And do I know that it's a proven fact that kids didn't need the vaccine and there's been 'a huge number' of myocarditis from kids getting it. Only he didn't actually know the name so he said something random. And I need to be careful what I give my kid. Who has been vaccinated with every available vaccine and boosted. Which he knows.
Then today again out of nowhere going on and on about it. He wishes he never got the Covid vaccine. It wasn't studied enough. People are sick now from it. He felt so pressured. Then on to don't you know we're not supposed to eat too much mercury?? And it's in vaccines and we're giving those to KIDs?? You need to do your research!! Before you get vaccines for your son. Like Jesus dude. His daughter is pregnant too and due in January aka dead of winter and flu season here and obviously none of them will be getting a flu shot. I'm worried for that baby.

Well after 3 years COVID finally caught up to me. Kind of pissed the FDA has been sitting on the booster. I was able to get paxlovid and I’m holed up in the master bedroom trying to keep DD and DH from getting it. I would hate for DD to miss her first day of school on Wednesday. (Assuming she stays negative and symptom-free, I’m going to have her wear a mask this week no matter.)

My sister did end up testing positive too. She's fine and didn't even think she had it. I guess was waiting on PCR results. The baby will get some antibodies from her having had it right? And I guess better now than when she has a newborn. Still sucks though.
