I may have spent $100 on premade soups I can eat at Whole Foods, along with ginger ale, df ice cream and popsicles today😬 sorry not sorry ETA the total was $100, not just the soup 😷🤒 In our household we believe that pho heals everything so I always order ridiculous quantities of Vietnamese food when anyone is sick. MH says you aren't doing pho right of they don't hand you your order in a Costco produce box Pho is our go to food remedy too. The best. Hope everyone who is sick now gets better soon. We had something pass through the house the last couple of weeks and finally today my cough is starting to improve. It's too late in the season for this bs. Sorry to hear you have covid again enchanted. I hope it passes quickly and easily.

Pho was so good when I had covid last year. It was the perfect balm for my throat.

Ughhh DS1 got dx with strep last Monday. Tomorrow is the last day of his antibiotics. So why does he come home from school feeling sickly and with a fever today?? BabyO had a fever all weekend and then fine yesterday. Now ds1 is sick again. What the shit. I’m so tired of sickness and I swear DH is going to lose his mind if he has to call in sick again to work bc I have zero sick time.
Idk wtf to do. I mean I do. Make ds1 wear a mask. He never got sick at school until this year when he stopped wearing a mask. So. Yeah.

I have a sinus infection. I am so glad it's not something worse, but I am so DONE with stuff going through the house. DONE. And DD doesn't really get a summer break since it's a special needs preschool and then she'll go right into kindergarten, so I'm not sure how much of a reprieve we'll get, either.
I miss the time when someone being sick WASN'T the default.

I was hoping it was allergies, but the sinus pain and pressure has been building up all week and last night the flood gates let loose with PND. Yuck. On the plus side, I used it as an excuse to get great ramen and sushi takeout for dinner tonight. Between miso broth, wasabi, and ibuprofen, I’m feeling pretty good right now.

So I definitely have strep, but now I have a bit of a cough and I'm on day 4 of abx and my throat is waaay better (though not perfect) and my fever is gone, but the body aches/fatigue/joint pain are still in full force. That's probably going to linger for a while, right? We are supposed to go camping tomorrow. I was really hoping the pep and go would be back now

I know I always end up with a ton of new aches and pains when we camp. 😞

Well on top of just having had strep throat, and am now dealing with asthma for the first time in ages from the wild fire smoke, our neighbor texted me that this morning that their daughter, who is always here, was tested for covid on Tuesday and they just found out she was positive this morning. I'm like what?! Granted, she was in my house yesterday evening (and Tuesday evening she was here all afternoon) and I wouldn't have known she was sick, but they had her tested and she was going to school without a mask as well... I'm pissed. We have recitals this weekend, DD1 has a super special sleep over planned for tomorrow night, we have 3 appointments with the new psychiatrist next week (which are pointedly not virtual), the girls stress tests, DD2 is supposed to be getting braces, and a lot of in lab work planned. The girls are negative on rapids this morning. This might break me.

Oh God byjove I am SO sorry! Sending you so many hugs - is there anything you need? Like can we send some dinners or something just to take something off your plate (pun only slightly intended)?

What do we think the chances are we don't get it? Neighbor's positive test was Tuesday- my girls spent 5 hours of Sunday with her in the car and then outside at a fair, all Tuesday evening, and Wednesday evening. DD2 and her were head to head looking at an ipad for about half an hour last night.

Oh man, byjove. I'm sorry. I would be angry, too. It's one thing if you have no clue, but they knew it was a possibility since they felt the need to get her tested. You said you wouldn't have known she was sick, so hopefully that means she wasn't sneezing and coughing on your kids and they don't catch it.

I'm so sorry byjove. I would be so angry. My youngest got COVID last year and didn't share it with all of us. (My oldest and I presumably got it- but the other two in the house did not) She slept ON TOP of MH, who is immune compromised, and coughed/sneezed all of the place. He still didn't get it. So there's a chance you avoid this.

I’m sorry byjove. When I had it at new years only my SIL and I got it and were around everyone in our family (parents, spouses, kids, grandmas) the night before.

I'm sorry byjove. H had it last summer and spent hours in a car with DD one day before he tested positive and she didn't get it (I didn't either.) Immune systems are weird and there is definitely a chance you will be spared!

Anyone know what the guidance is for ending isolation? I went to the VDH page, and it says isolate for 5 days from positive test, but then it says on the same page you can end isolation with a negative test- it is very poorly written.
Friend's mom is saying friend is testing negative already (had a faint line on an at home rapid yesterday) and wants to know if my girls can play. I'm just like WHAT?! but who even knows anymore, right?
It looks like in the UK you don't have to even test or isolate anymore for covid like symptoms. Did I cancel DD1's sleep over for nothing?

So, with the end of the medical emergency, I don’t think they are recommending anything beyond isolating while feeling ill anymore. (I would personally isolate my own family until we test negative on rapids.) When we had it last January, the advice was 5 days followed by 5 days of masking OR a negative rapid test.

We are 5 days post last exposure and we're all negative with no signs of symptoms. I'm going to stop testing unless something new develops. PHEW!

N is now on day 5 of gastro-intestinal emissions. It started on Saturday night, which we initially wrote off as "too much party fun" from a birthday he was at earlier that day. He was fine all day Sunday and then puked again Sunday night, and into Monday (never had a fever). Thought we were in the clear yesterday until it started coming out the other end last night. According to the pedi, something's been going around with this pattern and we just have to wait it out.
Send help, he's finally discovered the Paw Patrol spinoff Rubble & Crew. (so. much. screen time.)

He seems fine? The only reason he's home today is because he had an episode right after lunch yesterday and that technically resets the clock. So far today (KNOCKS ON ALL THE WOOD) he's been good. Apparently everyone at daycare was brought into one room for a concert/guest performance (part of their summer camp) so I feel better about not sending him. That just feels like germ transmission central.

MIL is so stubborn. She has a horrible cold with cough and never tested for Covid. She is assuming she picked up whatever virus that my girls both had. She was last with them on 6/13. (I did test for Covid 2x and both negative.)
On Friday 6/16, we went to a wedding together which would have been her first big group event since 2020. She started feeling crappy on Sunday night. She said she got whatever my girls had. But that was 5 days prior. She’s been sick for over a week. I didn’t even think about Covid until the other day and told H to ask her about testing. Then today she went to the doc for her yearly appointment. Doc said no point in testing now because the medication wouldn’t be useful. I’m like but don’t you want to know if you have/had it?!??

Cases are going up everywhere it seems but of course with no real access to testing or tracking it's impossible to know exactly how bad this wave is (or will become).

When are we allowed to get boosters again? Or when will the new boosters be available? With school starting I just imagine it's going to be a nightmare. I want us all boosted 😫
I don't think Iowa is tracking anything anymore so who knows how bad it is.
