I don’t know. I was just sharing. I would hope that the next step is looking into a vaccine for children, but based upon our covid vaccine experience, I would expect it’s going to take awhile. Oh I know. It’s amazing. I am just being a whiny bitter bitch over here 😂 You work with the itty bitty babies, you can whine all you want about the lack of vaccines for littles.

I've been following along with the states covid numbers/deaths just to kind of assess risk as much as possible even though I know the numbers aren't accurate at all anymore but now Iowa isn't tracking anything at all related to covid as of April 1st. I'm not surprised but it just sucks.

We have lice It's been really bad at our school this year and I guess I'm surprised it took so long for us to get it. DD2 was at a playdate when I found it on DD1 and I told the mom I'd come get her and she was like NBD, we've already had it 3 times Of course I had literally just done all the laundry and on Saturday, so now I have to start doing it all over again. And I'd worn the same nightgown for a few nights and kept putting it back in my drawer so I have to wash everything in that drawer, wheeee! So it's fun times. Just ready for life to slow down. Last thing to note is that my head had been very itchy since Wednesday! and I kept having DH look daily and I thought I was going into some crazy perimenopause itching and was down the rabbit hole of supplements, but alas, I can wait on those. The girls had it worse than I did but a lot less itching.

byjove That sucks. I will say that the lice salons are worth every penny if they are in the budget. The woman who got rid of my lice also made me feel a lot more chill about lice and the way they spread for if we have to deal with it again. For example, they can only transfer hosts and reproduce if both are the same bloodtype, which I never knew.

We have 3 different blood types in our house and no problems with replication/spreading here...

I got it from my kids too but the lady suspected that an egg hatched on my son's head, and then latched onto me before feeding on my son which is why it survived.

We have O+, A+, and O- (I am different than both of my children, who are also different- which I find so bizarre!). Doesn't seem to be a significant barrier to transmission if true. Anyway, lice sucks, absolutely.

It's all such a headache though. Especially with girls since you can't just buzz their hair off (I mean I guess you can, but it is probably less likely, ha).

byjove - I'm sorry. We had lice towards the beginning of the pandemic. If they'll give it to you, get ivermectin. I couldn't figure out why we had to drive to Tucson from Phoenix for it - that's when I realized folks were taking it to prevent COVID. 🤦♀️

We had to go to MANY pharmacies in the area to get enough patchwork supplies to get all of our heads last night. DH was like well at least our heads won't get covid...

Between byjove’s lice posts and the tick we pulled out of DD’s hair this evening, my scalp has developed the itchy creepy crawlies.

Don’t forget to treat the car and car seats! I can itch just hearing the word lice. When DD used to watch doc mcstuffins, there was an episode about glitter being spilled in a hat which was shared. The glitter made everyone’s head itch. Including mine just hearing about it. Haha.

Thankfully no obvious bites! But gotta remember the deet next time.

This one was a smaller deer tick and had at least a day to dig in before we caught it. 😭 I’m going to be checking her scalp for rashes every time I snuggle her for the next few weeks. My dad had awful Lyme and anaplasmosis a few years ago from a deer tick bite, so I’m paranoid about it.

You wanna really freak about ticks? Grandson had an ear infection in early February. The doc (who I do trust) she told him he had bugs in his ears there was red swelling blah blah antibiotics.
After antibiotics she did a recheck and it was clear and she cleaned his ears and all ok.
Except couple weeks later he's repeating saying bugs in ear and messing with his ears. So back to diff dr in same office, they say bad infection or maybe other one didn't really clear up.
He still complains after antibiotics so they give a look it's oozing stuff and they give augmentin with referral to ent maybe he needs tubes cause it's coming up on 3 mos.
They have an otoscope and look in there after particularly bad night. And there's a black spot And then it moved
After 8 Dr's looked in his ear they took out the tick

DS2 woke up super whiny complaining his head hurt. He felt warm but temp was just below a fever. He crawled back in bed with me and slept until 11:30. He seems okay-ish now but not super interested in eating and not his usual spunky self
He's also has a runny nose that I've been assuming is allergies because I have it too. Neg for covid
Tomorrow they're supposed to have farm animals at school, which will be a bummer to miss

I was at school volunteering during lunch and DD1 was there and was so upset and sobbed through lunch and didn't eat, I don't exactly understand why, but it was gut wrenching to see. DH picked her up from aftercare early and she ended up coming home with a rash all over her neck and chest, glassy eyes, and a temp in the high 99s. The last time she had a meltdown at school (that kicked off the depressive episode I thought she was finally coming out of)? Tested positive for strep the next day. I think there is a good chance this is strep again. CAN WE CATCH A BREAK PLEASE

The doctor thought strep was likely as she had a red throat too, but her rapid came back negative so we have to wait for the culture and they said carry on as normal in the mean time. She really struggled this morning, but she went back to bed for a while and I got her to school eventually.
Also was talking with some other school moms last night and apparently the nurse has said we have a lice PANDEMIC at our school. Lovely. We really were just about the only ones to not have had it yet.
