We've had a wild ride with illnesses over the last ten days! All three kids had hand foot and mouth disease last week and it was awful for C and N. They had really high fevers, and then they only had the blisters in their mouths but they were in so much pain. N still has blisters and can't eat anything that isn't soft one week later.
MH had a high fever at the same time as the kids and tested negative for covid, so I assume he had the hand foot and mouth, too. He felt like crap. Over the weekend everyone was feeling better, but then C and MH developed new fevers this past Sunday evening. Then I woke up Monday with a scratchy feeling in my throat. So I tested the three of us and we were all positive for covid!
N tested positive yesterday and L today. We all have really mild symptoms and it's been way easier on us than hand foot and mouth was.
School started last Wednesday and that was the only day L and N attended this year 😑

The girls both had their first covid vaccines 2.5 weeks ago. We were going to go back for the second dose 8 weeks later but I need to ask their doctor if we should postpone that because of the covid infection. I'm assuming the answer to that will be yes.

Thanks guys! We're all feeling better already. L had his booster 12 days ago and he had no symptoms at all except a slight sore throat one morning that went away after breakfast. I find that amazing 🙌

P has a field trip coming up and I just searched my email for "field trip [teacher's name] and up came a bunch of emails from when M had that teacher in 2020. From the week of 3/10...when theirs got cancelled...and then school closed. and then day care closed.
What a trip that week was. I want someone to make a documentary of our lives.

Well our streak is over. M tested positive today. I had a lingering cold the last week but was always negative. So I thought she had that. Nope.

M seems a bit better today so maybe it was a bad one day - TBD. Unfortunately she was at my ILs sunday-monday so we are a little worried they will get it. We don't have a plan. We know too many people who tried to isolate and it caused stress and then a different family member got it on subsequent weeks for like a month. DNW. I just got boosted so maybe i'm clear. Mostly we have a trip planned columbus day weekend so I'm hoping we make it. ARGGGHHH.

Ugh, my first notably sick with covid employee. I've had other employees who turned out to be contagious while at work, but we haven't found out until later (and there has been no transmission). This guy was noticeably getting sicker as the day wore on and then called in sick yesterday and tested positive today. Everyone here is vaccinated and boosted once, so I'm hoping that it's one of those cases that he got symptoms before getting contagious. At least we're going into the weekend, so folks have an opportunity to get sick or not get sick away from work.
It's also so weird to basically just KOKO with life after finding out that one of my teams was exposed. They're wearing masks, but otherwise life goes on. Crazypants.

Anyone else feel like we're *almost* at the chickenpox stage of COVID? Highly contagious, generally mild-ish illness, isolation away from family is nearly impossible, so might as well get everyone sick and get it over with....
Weird times we're in...

I get what you're saying since it affected my direct family so mildly when we were all positive. I don't like the dropping of masks in healthcare facilities, but it's not like the Trumpers in my area cared anyway.

Nowhere else is, but doctors offices and hospitals are still requiring masks inside Eye doctors and dentists as well. I don’t mind, we are in and out so quickly from most places. Plus we definitely have other colds going around. C had a cough (we had him tested in office and was negative), F has a slight cough and congestion no other issues. And now my husband has it. I will say, when I had Covid I’m pretty sure my blood pressure dropped. I was so light headed I was afraid to stand for long. Other then that, symptoms were mild.

Well...its been a week. M was sick for a day or so, did her quarantine and is back at school. BM went down soon after her and was pretty sick with a fever for a few days. She's up and working from home this week. P coughed twice and tested positive on Saturday but otherwise is fine so is now home from school most of the week, feeling fine, missing her first field trip.
I've been sniffly and coughing since before M even tested positive. So many negative tests.
Today I just feel different, a little indigestiony and snifflying and coughing like I have been. Sore throat. Positive.
So much for making our weekend away.
Netflix please.

My employees are dropping like flies. I had one person who got covid from a concert, one from her partner and another from a wedding. The first one is back today, but the other two are fresh. I've got another person out who keeps testing negative, but has something nasty. And another person who's son just went home with noro - so she's likely going to be down for the count very soon. I'm having everyone mask up and hopefully we can nip this in the bud. And hopefully this will help convince everyone to get the bivalent booster.

I think if you recently tested positive you should not get the booster until 2 to 3 months later. But i agree this spreads fast and can give such a huge range of severity.

Yes, I mean the convince the folks who haven't gotten covid to go get the booster. So they hopefully continue to not get covid.

Well, it's not COVID, but I just needed to vent about an illness hitting our household the same week that my BIL and 6mo nephew are visiting. R has had a study nose and cough for a couple days. We tested her twice, me once, and all came back negative. She is otherwise in perfect spirits and doing all the school and sports activities. Then, A slept in hard this morning. I figured it was just her catching up on sleep from a busy weekend + Halloween. Nope. Low grade fever this morning (99.5ish), and straight up 101.8° this evening around 4pm. She just says she's tired. Tested negative for COVID. I'm sure it's a random virus from school, but my BIL and nephew fly in this evening and I'm so stressed about it. 😫 Now we have to keep her away from the baby (whom she was so excited to see) and try not to get anyone else sick.

rugger I'm sorry the timing is so crappy! There are so many different bugs going around, M is home today for the second time in 2 weeks. We have a bunch of travel planned this month and I'm hoping it doesn't get affected.
