Yes, the slow moving virus was us. L didn't show symptoms until 8 days after MH first became sick. She was also the last to finally test negative on her Day 11 (today!!!). ETA: We didn't isolate away from MH so the rest of us possibly could've avoided it, but we'll never know now.

I asked my brother about masks and protocols for them, and he was like "that isolation ship has sailed." They were all exposed at the same time and were unmasked together at home for 3 days before they knew or showed symptoms. So, I get it. His wife and kiddo will just test daily until...??

Guidelines say they only need to test if symptomatic, but I'm glad they see the error in that thinking for their situation. Hope they still stay negative!

Ugh, a neighbor's older daughter just tested positive. I was inside their house on Monday for a few minutes (probably less than 5) and passed by the daughter. Their other three children were all supposed to come to M's birthday party on Sunday, but now can't. M will be so bummed. I have a sneaking suspicion that they might not be the only people who have to bow out for covid related reasons. C has a friend who recently recovered from covid and I'm going to reach out and invite her. That feels like a safe bet, if she can make it.

T was quite sick all day yesterday, with a brief hour of walking and playing with her siblings mid-afternoon.
We just got back from a doctors appointment. She’s tested negative for Flu A and B, and Covid PCR is pending.
She has an ear infection. The doctor said “if she’s been congested off and on this month it could all be from the ear infection!”
In my experience, ear infections don’t cause lethargy and 3 hour midday naps? I don’t know.
I’m glad I got her seen. And thankful for amoxicillin.

For the record when my kids have a bad ear infection they are usually too busy screaming and crying due to ear pain to nap for 3 hours.

My older two had ear infections at the same time a few years ago (probably viral) and they had fevers, low appetite, and were lethargic and sleeping a ton. No other symptoms.

Covid PCR is negative. So. I guess it’s just some random virus that is causing her to be so very pathetic for 72+ hours. Yes Lu’s the ear infection (her ear infections historically follow bad colds so, here we are).
I forgot how annoying this part of parenting is - the sick kid part. Thank goodness she’s old enough to mostly articulate her pains, that is a huge improvement.
Thanks for the commiseration.

Edit: I just cancelled my trip to Southern California because of another predicted surge 😞. I know we have some protection since we had it two weeks ago, but those variants are sneaky.

My bff tested positive last night. I was just at her house on Monday, inside chatting for about an hour. Fack.

I was just noticing that it has been almost 11 days since the family reunion ended - if anyone caught/shared Covid we’d know about it by now, right? I would think so, yes. You can always do a rapid test just to check.

I just tested positive.
My FIL was unknowingly positive when we saw him Sunday. He feels mostly fine and I feel 100% fine.
I feel absolutely terrible about the people I exposed yesterday before I knew. But I tested negative last night, and positive this morning. So maybe my viral load wasn’t high enough to transmit? We were outside except like 90 seconds, 2x.
The logistics are so overwhelming.

Given that your exposure was on Sunday, it is very likely that you were not contagious yesterday. Especially if you were almost entirely outside. I would also feel terrible exposing people if I got it, but I also think that at this point in the pandemic, we all know what we're living with and we just need to not be assholes (which it sounds like you did by early and regular testing).

Sorry to hear that ovenrack! I hope you stay feeling ok. If you were negative last night then hopefully no one you saw the would also test positive.

I feel like a sunday to tuesday turn is super quick these days (totally anecdotal) - but everything I hear its like 5-10 days later. Regardless - distant hugs for the logistical figuring.

We got M boosted yesterday but P just wasn't gonna have it. Like running away hiding, kicking screaming if we try to physically force her out of her hiding spot (and then again into car, out of car, into place, and into position.)
It was non-negotiable for the initial two vaxs - and it sucked - but for a booster I gave in. I think she's gonna need to be put to sleep or something. Can they do that?! And get her flu and booster and whatever 6 yo's normally get all in one? Argh.

I need to get my youngest vaccinated. I’m not sure where we are going to get it done. His pediatrician didn’t order doses because they said they don’t have enough parents willing to vaccinate.

I give them candy just for getting in the car and a slow candy (lollipop or something) right before the shot, so that they can have it during the shot. We got shots in the car, but if we had to go inside I would be giving more for getting out of the car, walking in the door, waiting, etc. M is a SCREAMER about shots. When we went to get their boosters there were a handful of other cars there waiting for their shots and every car had kids in the back who were all craning their necks to stare wide eyed at M. That's just our vaccine life now and I'm ok with it. There were a lot of other screamers at the school vaccine clinic, so I know that we're not alone. The nurse was so chill about it all (I think that children were her specific job), but M was moving so much she ended up a little extra bloody and bruised. I told M that it was her moving that made it that way and she said, "Why didn't you tell me? I would have held still if you told me that!" Lol, yeah, sure kid.

Oh she's been offered candy to mcdonalds to a puppy and no dice. I can deal with the screaming but i'm not dragging her kicking out from under her bed. At least yesterday i wasn't. Prob have to not tell her where we are going until we are there. I'm sure her therapist in 20 years will be interested in her phobia of CVS pharmacy.

Omicron’s incubation period is 2-4 days, it seems.
