So we didn't isolate properly. My kids and I are now positive. Happy Mother's Day to me at home instead of a day trip to San Francisco 🤪 ETA: properly as in making MH stay in a separate room and bathroom. We have been home since he first tested positive except for going to the testing site. Ah! Hope it’s quick and easy. We also all caught it after R first tested positive.

Noo DGM I’m so sad for you! I hope you can do the SF trip another time soon. I keep thinking my kids are getting COVID and then every time they’re negative… because it’s strep. Again. 🥲

I have a cold and I did a rapid test on Monday that was negative. This morning I did two more tests, one including a cheek then nose swab, and one nose only. The cheek one is positive. So I have covid, right? The test instructions say to do nose only, but I've been hearing in the news that including cheek/tongue can help detect omicron.

T’s teacher and M’s teacher are out with Covid. A saw a kid with Covid on a job for about 15 seconds indoor yesterday. I’ve been testing everyone nonstop and it’s all negative.
I am going to stop worrying and just keep testing daily.

Officials in my province haven't come out and said to swab cheeks, but in Ontario I think they have. That's why I'm not 100% sure it's valid to do it that way...

mintyblueair I've heard about the cheek thing but some immunologists I follow said not to do it because thats not what the tests were calibrated for. So I've been sticking to nasal passages only.

I'm not sure what to think! MH's tests have been negative (with and without cheek swab) and he has the same symptoms that I do. Oh well, I guess I'm back to my state of uncertainty lol.

I haven't heard of cheek swabs, but I have heard that throat swabs can pick up more than nasal. However, acidic foods (soda, juice, etc) can cause a false positive (something about interfering with the buffer solution), which is why officials haven't officially started recommending them.

Interesting! I had coffee this morning, before the swab. Maybe that's it 🤔

L is still testing positive but with congestion as her only symptom. She will miss her final soccer game and is more upset to miss the snack bag from her new friend. I texted the friend's mom and will recreate the snack at home so all is good now LOL.

I'm not 100% convinced I actually have covid, but we've all been staying home just in case. N was exhausted and pale at 6pm and asked to go to bed. She had a stuffy nose last week and I was considering her patient 0 so I'm hoping she's just tired and not coming down with covid/something new... it's never-ending!

Today is Day 9 since L started showing symptoms. Aside from congestion/allergies, I thought we were good to go outside today instead of tomorrow (from coffee thread). L just tested Positive on a rapid.
Cue screaming into the void. ETA I know my area is like ,meh, covid is not real, but the pediatrician's office didn't even want to put a note in my kids' files. I'll be calling back tomorrow when calmer.

Well, my brother just tested positive. 😷☹️ They were exposed when they hung out with their best friends. They are all very COVID-cautious, so it's surprising that it got to them. So far, his wife and 2yo have tested negative, but the toddler is congested. I just hope they are in the clear in 12 days for our big beach trip 🤞🤞

T has a fever. I’m just going to test, and care for her, and mask. That’s all I can do, right?
Sigh.

I’ve heard about it moving slow-motion through a family but I hope that’s not the case for them - we’ve also been very Covid cautious but levels are high around here right now so it feels impossible to avoid some exposure. Ughhhhh.

So many people I know who have managed to avoid covid for all this time have gotten it this month.
I know it's going to get us too...
