Good luck charlotte. I just had to pick up a sick kid from school for the third week straight. And on the first day of mask requirements, not even the pregnant principal was wearing a mask. My nephew is awaiting results right now and I will be getting E tested in the morning.

Woot! My school district just mandated vaccination for all staff. Apparently all teachers were vaccinated, but there were a handful of staff holdouts. After 4 student cases in the past week, our superintendent made a big ol' nope to that. She said that my September 15, all adults will be vaccinated.

Positive case in L's class. We will be contacted if she was determined to be a "close contact". Great.
She actually just tested negative today. She caught G's weekend stomach bug and puked last night so I kept her home today and she needs a negative test to return so I guess that's something.

That’s amazing our school district hasn’t gone that far. But… Sept 15th is in 6 days. Maybe they’ll all get J&J?

M’s teacher said that she thinks that it was something like 2 or 3 who weren’t vaccinated, so it’s not a lot to account for.

E’s teacher just emailed us that she tested positive for covid yesterday. She says that none of the children were considered close enough contact to require quarantine. Please tell me how the teacher has not had close contact with one single student in her class? Anyway. I’m genuinely curious whether she had been vaccinated or not and am also worried about the students. Ugh.

Well eff, TJ. Maybe she was masked and that's why? Either way, big ughh. I hope none of her students gets it.
My dumbass SIL, who is a teacher, not vaxxed because sHe WaNtS tO hAvE bAbIeS sOmEdAy, has covid. And apparently mild symptoms. I would never wish for anyone to become gravely ill, but I do hope for wake-up calls, and this is not going to be one for her.

My very pregnant and unvaccinated sister is quarantining right now after a close exposure late last week. I hope to everything that she manages to avoid getting it.

The schools don’t generally get to decide what’s a close contact. If your state (like mine) says a close contact is unmasked and closer than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes, families and staff are out of luck. I’ve had multiple students test positive after playing wind instruments in my room, and even before vaccinations I was never notified. It’s total BS policy set by people who have never been in a classroom. I’m glad the teacher contacted you- that was most likely her decision to try to protect the kids.

So, kind of funny anecdote, I was watching Mama Doctor Jones' video on the covid vaccine yesterday, and in the comments a lot of people commented that they either ovulated immediately after the shot (in people with irregular cycles) or got pregnant immediately after the covid shot (like figured out they conceived within 2 weeks). Probably no correlation, but it was funny that all these people are afraid of losing their fertility when from that it looks like it improves fertility XD

Well. We have 2 "pod families" here, who are careful like us and they're really the only people we hang with indoors.
One family is quarantining after a day care exposure, the other family is also now quarantining because my friend (the mom) tested positive this morning.
Thankfully the kid is showing no symptoms and only has a couple days of q left, and the mom in the other family had a neg rapid when her symptoms started but had a feeling so masked up indoors and avoided her family as much as possible until she got a pcr today so hopefully nothing will spread. But. Fuck! We are all vaxxed. And careful. She has no idea where she got it.

Ugh milano. For a while it felt like the only people who were vaxxed and getting Delta were people who knew where they got it (family, school, a crowded indoor space, etc). But I've been hearing about more people who don't know where they got it and I don't like that at all.

And this is my second friend in a month who has gotten it, with symptoms, and had no clue where they got it because they mask everywhere and are careful. The first friend managed to not spread it to his spouse though, so I'm hoping the same for my friend here.

Our school district finally decided to mandate masks at the school board meeting last night! I saw this on the news but have not yet received any communication from the district.

Our school has started doing once a week PCR testing for every child who's parent consents. The kids swab their own noses and then we get emailed the results. I'm very happy about this.

M’s school is doing this too. I asked her how many kids did it and she said about half. She received a badge with a QR code on it. I still have no idea how or if we will get the results.

We do this too but it’s pooled so you don’t get individual results unless the pool tests positive and they re run it individually. The part in most happy is instead of quarantining they can do rapid tests each morning with the nurse and stay if negative. So hopefully no two weeks off at random.

There’s an outbreak in one classroom in my district. 8 cases already. They are rapid testing all who consent to get ahead of it but ugh. 8 feels like it had to spread in school unless the 5th graders had a party or something.
