Jake Patterson kidnapping Jayme is the most terrifying kind of story for parents. A random monster who just sees your child one day and decides to take her. It still bothers me. Yeah it’s very scary. Like nothing could have been done to prevent it. Not like the victim is EVER to blame, but It wasn’t a “shouldn’t have gone into that aol chat room” Or “shouldn’t have walked down that alley at 2am alone” type thing. It was legit just her doing her daily life and this psycho just saw her and destroyed her life. And its not even someone she knew or anything like that. It was just so random.

About the ONLY thing that MAYBE would have helped in that scenario was if they had a super nice security system that would have alerted the cops immediately and the Dad hadn’t gone to the door. But who even knows. It only took Jake 4 minutes to kill both parents and take Jayme and the cops were driving past him to their house when he left so it was a super close call. It’s all just horrifying. I truly think if she hadn't gotten out that he would have gotten away with it. He could have killed her too and it never would have been solved.

He somehow committed the perfect crime until he decided not to kill her and she was so brave.

He somehow committed the perfect crime until he decided not to kill her and she was so brave. Which that alone is frightening. Sheer dumb luck he managed a perfect crime. WTF. I guess I have taken solace that these days its pretty damn hard to commit a perfect crime like that but then he did it.
