Don’t mind me post whoring it up lol. We are not really in a nap routine yet, except that the morning nap is 1.5 hours after he wakes for the day and is his best nap (45 min to an hour). Then it’s usually another 30 min cat nap 1.5-2 hours later then a shit show then maybe a car nap if I can’t get him down. Some days he’s in bed for the night (with wake ups for feeds) at 5pm because he’s an overtired mess. The other night it was 4:50pm. Last night was almost comical it was that much of a disaster. Had an open home so we went to McDonald’s for dinner (bathed kids before hand, they went in pyjamas). Got home at 6. Put overtired baby down. Got toddler to bed. Baby wakes, screams the house down because H tried to settle him and not me. Tag. Screaming woke up toddler who screamed the house down because H tried to settle him not me. Baby screamed because toddler was screaming. Poor H couldn’t do shit to help and I’m trying to put two kids back to sleep who are now 2.5 and 1.5 hours past bed time. Reason #35 why our house needs to sell today. Woof. I hope your house sells fast AF. +1 nevertoomanyshoes sending vibes for sanity and strength!

But also, what convertible are you all considering? We have E in a Graco extend 2 fit. I really liked it at first, but now that she's a but bigger she seems scrunched and her head flops forward a terrible amount. It's on the most reclined setting and I've done all the things they recommend to get a better fit and it doesn't make a difference. Seriously considering replacing it. I got this because I got it at a good price but it's still in MIL basement so I have no experience with it. www.target.com/p/safety-1st-174-grow-go-153-3-in-1-convertible-car-seat/-/A-50738280

ArielMermaid nevertoomanyshoes DD1 (just turned three) hasn’t napped in a few days. We finally got rid of her pacis and they took her naps with them. She’s awful. I want my sweet kid back. She laid down on the concrete and sobbed today bc we had to leave DC. Kill me.

I'm sorry for all those with the older kids dropping naps. D1 dropped hers just before she turned 3 and it was awful. She still naps at school but will not at home. I've tried to implement quiet time in her room in the afternoon and that is even a huge battle. We will get a rare car nap if we are out but I miss nap time.

Speaking of older kids, I was in the kitchen cooking and D1 was playing in her kitchen "cooking" too. Only she comes out and she is covered in tomato seeds. All over her clothes and in her hair. I go to her kitchen and she had grabbed some cherry tomatoes and was squishing them in her pot to make tomato sauce. There was tomato everywhere. All over her kitchen, the floor, the wall, the curtains, and her dishes. That was a ton of fun to clean up while I was dealing with a screaming baby and trying to make dinner.

Omg cp3, that sounds awful. 🙈 I’m scared for the days to come when L can do more damage than just spit up on things in his immediate vicinity.

When we were picking out the infant seat, the guy at BRU was raving about the Britax Boulevard for a convertible. Does anyone have it? Thoughts? We both have mid-size sedans if that makes any difference.

She loves to help us cook and she is very smart for how she was trying to make tomato sauce. But we had a talk about how her kitchen is for pretend play and she can't make real food in it.

We both have mid-size sedans if that makes any difference. Are yiubplanning to have more kids close together? It really depends on the car/number of kids. Are you going to be flying with it? Will you need to move it often? All things to consider. BBB will let you test/install car seats before you buy. I’d suggest figuring out a short list of car seats you like and then watching for good sales. We have a mix of Graco convertibles that I bought for $150+ off on Amazon daily deals.

None of the target links are working for me, they just take me to the homepage. Not sure if it's because I'm in Canada?

We both have mid-size sedans if that makes any difference. It’s not available here, but I googled and it looks quite wide? Not a problem if three kids in car seats is a no no no for you. Are you or H tall? How cramped will it be RF for the adult in front (if applicable)? ETA: maybe not, think it was just the pic that made it look wide.

It was busy in here today. I meant to check in when I was at work, but that didn’t happen. I hope all the babies and toddlers start sleeping soon and everyone who is sick feels better. Naps for us are all over the place. The boys are now back to daycare full time so we will see what happens. L typically takes 3or 4 naps. They tend to be about an hour in length. Some days we get one longer one. L will be in his bucket seat a while longer. I won’t switch until he can sit up on his own. He is a big boy and carrying it is getting rough so I am ready to switch to a convertible car seat. nevertoomanyshoes I am sorry for the frustration of selling your house. I hope it sells soon so you don’t have to deal with it anymore. L’s first tooth cut through over the weekend. He isn’t too fussy. DS1 never had any problems with teething so I hope L is the same. I’ve had a mild headache all day. I really hope it goes away soon.

Leaf 🌱 nevertoomanyshoes Thanks for the suggestions! H and I are both around 5’8” so not too tall. I think we’re planning for kids to be 2 years apart. Definitely trying for one more, maybe two. But I’m guessing if we have 3, I’ll be living the minivan life. Not planning to fly with it often. Both H and I will get one so we shouldn’t have to move it between cars except for grandparents maybe. I’ll definitely have to try a few out in our cars soon so we can watch for some deals.

Shoot, I'm sorry everyone's toddlers are being as difficult as the babies. DS1 always acts out worst on Mondays because we're coming off the weekend when he got more attention since DH was around. Another reason I can't wait for him to start back up with preschool next week. I've been pushing the nap on him hard till at least then, because I don't want to let him drop it and then really need it but refuse it when he starts back with 4 hours of preschool every morning.
I don't want to talk about the disaster that was DS2's naps today. He just won't let me put him down. I wanted to scream this afternoon after he took a 20-minute nap when that's usually his chunkier one (closer to an hour) and wouldn't let me soothe him back down.
As far as carseats go, I kept DS1 in the bucket until around 1 year, but I think I may switch DS2 to the convertible sooner just because he's so heavy. I really like the Chicco NextFit, and it fits okay RFing in my relatively compact car.

Well fuck me as if this house selling business couldn’t get more stressful, now MIL needs a surgery done and won’t be able drive for awhile so will be staying here with her dog that digs up our yard and drags dirt and crap through our house.
Weeeeeeeee
Did I mention we don’t have a guest room?
ETA: I’m not a total asshole, it’s minor surgery nothing serious.

Thanks everyone! Glad to be better. H, on the other hand, is still sick. Can’t decide if it’s real or if he’s milking it. Is anyone transitioning to a convertible seat? How do I know when I need to do that? How long does it make sense to still use the infant seat, as long as he still fits? I'm considering it. Although in reality, it'll probably wait a while because I don't feel like laying out new carseat money right now. But, I hate the bucket. With E we used it a lot because we'd frequently end up popping it in the stroller that it came with, but we haven't done that at all, I dont' even know where that stroller is.
As for what kind we'll get, I have the Graco 4Ever in my car for E. I like it a lot, although we lost one of the cupholders while flying and it forever pisses me off. My H has the Graco Contender 65 in his car which we also really like and is just a little more narrow.
Our problem, which I actually just thought of, is that we have to drive my parents around not too infrequently. If we're both going somewhere, we'll each take our own car and take one parent and one kid. But, if only one of us is going, my mom has to climb over the carseat base to get in the backseat, that's going to be a LOT more difficult (probably impossible) with two convertibles.
Fuck. DNW to be putting a car seat in and out all the time.

sending you house selling vibes nevertoomanyshoes. Do you need St. Joseph? www.amazon.com/St-Joseph-Home-Seller-Statue/dp/B000WMH1CQ clementine the Britax seats are all great, but they are almost universally huge and heavy. Depends on your car and whether you think you'll need to swap them out. We had Britax Roundabouts for DS. We have a Maxi Cosi Magellan that is waiting to be used for L, but I can't say how it is yet. It looks comfy.

So I think the 4 month sleep regression is hitting our house. We we're still having night wakings but it was only 1 or 2 and now it is 3 or 4. I have been awake since 3:30. Also even though he is only 15 lbs L is peeing through his size 2 diapers is 9 hours. We cloth diaper during the day and we have like 200 size 2 left.
DS1 has decided to cry every morning when I drop him off at daycare. It is like the start all over again. He is fine during the day and doesn't want to leave when I pick him up. For the next few weeks I have to do drop off and pick up but if this continues I am going to get DH to do drop off starting in September.

DS dropped naps months ago, it’s been something. ArielMermaid. The whining and demanding will be the death of me DD wakes at night now too. We bedshare so I change her and nurse right away so she doesn’t wake anyone else but STTN again would be nice.

I can not articulate how much I hate car seats in the winter. I’m holding off on a convertible for DD as long as possible. I switched DS over at 7 months. I have no idea which one I should get so everyone will fit comfortably in the car.

We had to switch by this age with L because he was a giant but B is a peanut so I’m going to hold on to that bucket for as long as I can. It so much more convenient. Especially in the winter

We both have mid-size sedans if that makes any difference. We had that in my old (small) work car and I liked it. I think it works ok in a smaller car but seats like diono are probably more slim profile. We have an Advocate as her main car seat in our family SUV though and I like it a bit better.
