So I have noticed that there are a variety of ways in which posters address their kids on the boards...
Some people use DS/DD Some people use initials Some people use nicknames Some people use actual first names
I'm wondering what the reason is behind what you do with regards to your kid(s) names here on the web. Have you ever shared their name? If no, why not? Do you type it and then poof it later? If so, why? Do you give no fucks and just type what moves you that time?
This isn't meant to be contentious - I'm genuinely curious.

As for me, I usually just use C because it's easier than typing her name out.
Or I say "my kid" so that everyone knows I'm talking about my kid.
But I have shared her name here and elsewhere on the Internet and have no qualms about doing so. It's just unnecessary (for me) to type out each time, IMO.

I use their initials because I've been posting with most of these ladies for years and they know my kids' names or at least which initial corresponds to which child.

I do not post my kids' names. They are unique and identifiable. I stick with DS/DD because I don't expect anyone to keep track of their nicknames and the initials would be confusing (DS' initials are actually DD, lol).
So long as I can figure out who someone is talking about, I'm good. The only issue I really have is when a child's age is relevant (PR questions, etc.) and the age isn't given.

I tried out using their first initials and @lorddisik named my daughter Carlos so I stick with DD.

I use DS. I don't think I've ever said his name here or on TB. Maybe one time, but I don't think so.
Why? 1. Because I like the name and I don't want people to use it for their hypothetical future babies. 2. Because it's one more identifying feature that could be used to triangulate me IRL. DNW.

I usually say LO or DS/DD. Sometimes I say big or little. I don't think I've ever used their names, at least intentionally. I haven't even posted their names and pictures on my private FB page, but I have in my BMB FB groups.

I've shared my boys' names before but I usually poof quickly. I don't have a good reason for it (especially considering the details I've shared about DS1), it just feels weird to put it all out there, the same way I don't share my first name.
Other than that, I use DS1/2 because I can't be bothered to keep track of nicknames posters have for their kids, so I don't add to it.

I use DS only because that's what I noticed everyone else doing back wen I lurked. I actually just realized that I use my kids' initials on my BMB so... I am inconsistent. I don't really have an issue using their names but I just follow along with the general trend.

I use DD/DS because nobody has time to remember initials or who I'm talking about. They also have pretty identifiable names. I have shared them, and proofed them in name conversations.
I hate using SO, but the alternatives suck even more.

I alternate between DD and using their initials

I'm usually vague but I'm sure I've used or alluded to his name here before. I'll use C, DS, the kid, whatever, depending on the context.

DS and DD most often, just because it's kind of habit now derived from what I saw so many people doing when I first started posting on boards...didn't put a whole lot of thought into it
I have referred to them by name on the rare occasion but usually it's if someone asks or it slips randomly, and I don't really worry much about it. My signature used to have their first names in it when I had those ticker things, but I didn't put those back up here because lazy
They are Jason and Aria... I mostly refer to them IRL as Jay/Jase and Ari

I use DS and DD here because I don't know the posters here as well as another forum I frequent. I may have mentioned and then proofed their names on TCF but I don't remember.
The other forum I frequent, I've been posting there for 4 years and I'm IRL friends on FB with a number of them, so they get initials.

And plus also DS1's first initial is "I" which would get awfully confusing and it would feel weird to call DS1 "DS1" but DS2 "L", so here we are.

I usually say "the big one" and "the little one" or some version. My preference would be to use their first initial because DS isn't my favorite (for no good reason), but I would think that would be annoying for everyone else.

I think I have shared the kids names when they were born but I haven't/don't ever since then. My one kid has a super popular name and the other has a much more unique name. I'm just more about that DS1 and DS2 life. Or "the older one" and "the younger one". Ditto Except DD and DS

My husband I've noticed I refuse to put DH for. Not really sure why I feel like that's dumb, but yet will do DS and DD
He's just H

His first name is Jason, but I feel weird typing that out on the board when everyone uses DS/initials and it is the interwebz so I just use DS or J.
*Edited out a portion, small, tiny portion.*

Not to make anyone feel old but if we're still here in a few years some of our own kids might be able to triangulate us...
That said I think I've shared and poofed DD's name at least once and anyone with a good memory can probably remember me naming DS. My own name I have never shared and will never because it's super identifiable.

I've always used C and Em, but being in a new place I think I used their full names in my intro post and threw out a few DD/DS because you don't know my lyfe and if I said C or Em you'd have no idea who I was talking about.
I don't really care that much about full first names on the internet.

And as far as I can see looking over all the names in DS' kindergarten class for next year on the sign up sheets for orientation (I think there's like 99-100 of them), he's so far the only Jason
HA.

I've googled "Jason and Aria" together to see if anything comes up related to me and instead I get two characters from fucking Pretty Little Liars
And I think they may have even had a romantic thing
I was...perturbed at that idea.
Have never seen the show. and now everyone will think that's why I named my two kids that. Sigh.
