katietopaz I've never heard of that company before, but they have some pretty cute clothes. I don't usually like kids clothes with words on them because the Daddy's Princess, Moms Sports Champion, etc just annoy me. You and me both! I actively try to avoid clothes with words on them, which is way harder in little baby sizes than it should be (looking at you, Carter's). But I have a couple of these shirts in part because I like that it might make people do a double-take.

Thanks, ya'll! I'm nervous & excited. I think we're going to have the tech write the sex down and find out tomorrow with the kids. H has to work until 8 tonight, way past minion bedtime.

I cut off half the length of my hair this morning. Very freeing! I've been contemplating doing this. I haven't got my hair cut in I think 1.5 years. I usually get it cut once or twice a year. I am not sure if my hair has ever been as long as it is now.

I cut off half the length of my hair this morning. Very freeing! I did that this summer! (Funny enough, it actually was the day this babe was conceived) It feels so much better to not deal with all that hair. Congrats!

My employer (a town) hired an outside company to do some phone wiring in our building, and the guy who is here working is blaring music. Its like head banger metal, and he is working in an electrical closet down the hall. It is so loud! It would never occur to me to play music loudly in someone else's workspace. And this is a public building!
So annoying. I'm tempted to be a massive bitch and tell him to turn it down/off but I keep thinking that he has to be done sooner rather than later.

My son had an epic meltdown/tantrum last night. He cried and screamed for at least an hour. It was all because we took off the band-aid that was barely sticking to his leg from one of the shots he got last Thursday. I think DS inherited some of my anxiety and I feel bad for him.

Are we the same person? DS had a meltdown last night for the exact same reason. I took off a BandAid from Monday. He doesn't normally tantrum, but I have noticed since he started kindergarten that in the hour before bedtime, if he gets upset for some reason he just can't seem to calm himself down. Too tired I think. But still. I was like....I'm going to sit in your room, come find me when you've calmed down.

Tell him to turn it down. It's probably not just disrupting you and one person's work is not more important than your department/hallway/building's work. He can still listen to his stuff, just use headphones or turn it down.

I think the being too tired also played a role in my son's meltdown and I basically did the same thing as you.

woodenshoes, to my son's credit he managed to brush his teeth while sobbing open mouthed. LOL. Tantrums aren't funny at the time but looking back at them I always feel so badly for my pathetic, drooling son. May the bandaids fall off by themselves next time ;-)

Oh man, I've had my prospective mat leave kinda etched out on a 2018 calendar I printed out in first tri, I am so ready to not be at work. We'll see if I change my tune when I'm stressed out because I have a tiny human relying on me for their existence, haha.

I want so badly to mark it on there along with my due date, but I donāt want to get too stuck on that date since I know baby will be making that decision.

This morning was weird, emotionally. DS1's ABA therapist was asking if I knew the sex of this baby, and I surprised myself by how happy and excited I was to share that it's another boy. Hooray for feeling like I'm genuinely getting on board with being a "boy mom." Then, I was finishing up a batch of clothespin cookies and I started sobbing, out of nowhere. I'd started thinking about how much I enjoyed learning to make this family recipe from my mom (who learned it from my grandma, who learned it from my great-grandma, etc etc) and the fond memories I have of baking with my mom. And I guess I was just struck by the idea of not having a daughter to hand it on down to the same way.
I know that it's silly, because who's to say that one or both of my sons won't be interested in baking? And even if I had a daughter, it's not like she's going to be preprogrammed to enjoy baking, anyway. If I have a daughter-in-law someday, it's even something I could offer to pass down to her if she likes baking. Bonus: maybe a chance to not-awkwardly bond because MILs are hard sometimes.
Especially with our discussions here recently about stereotyping, I know I should know better, and I do. So I'll blame the pregnancy hormones for the tears out of nowhere. Aaaand eat a bunch of the clothespin cookies I just made.

Here's hoping one or both of your kids will want to know how to make those cookies as they get older. And if you're ever looking to offload some cookies, my mailbox is open, just sayin'.

Hugs katietopaz. Maybe your boys will enjoy helping bake the cookies. I know my nephews used to like to help my mil bake when they were little. Now I'm curious though...what are clothespin cookies?

Rama Coming your way! I certainly don't need... 8 dozen. Yes, I just counted. That recipe made more than I realized! auri They're insanely delicious. Basically you wrap puff pastry around seasoned clothespins, bake, then fill with this delicious filling that has marshmallow fluff and other deliciousness, and sprinkle with powdered sugar. There is a shocking amount of Crisco involved. The first batch going in the oven Finished with filling and powdered sugar on top š ETA: I just realized I said delicious 5,000 times. Seriously these are my favorite.

(Here comes the anecdotes) but my two nephews are the biggest bakers in the family. At 4 and 2 they bake a lot with their mom and love to do it. Maybe if you start them you enough you can turn them into little pastry chefs. On the flip side, I suck at and don't love baking. I just like the end result. Those cookies look so good!

Anatomy scan went great! Babe is measuring in the 90th percentile! Considering my other two were less than 6 pounds full term, OB & I are curious if Iāll get an āaverageā weighted baby this time. I had the sex in an envelope & swung into a bakery on my way home. I pick up cupcakes tomorrow afternoon.
